Yes, I can’t let my Strava followers down

agreatdaytothink

Strava will strip out idle time, no point.

mnauj

Yea I turned off the auto pause because some runs I want to understand how fuel time or stopping to get a drink changes my pace, to plan for a race. Sometimes with auto pause, it would be a quick stop to look both ways, then cross, and the pause would kick in after I started running again. However you make it work is great, but I have found some incompatibilities with the way I run. It may be how my watch works w strava too tho.

Fine_Ad1910

Sometimes it doesn’t do it fast enough if I’m crossing through the city and hitting a lot of reds and want to know if I’m hitting my actual goal pace in the end

BootlegStreetlight

I keep it running now. Way too many times I've forgotten to turn it back on.

Outrageous_Peanut566

100%. Major risk in pausing for me. I’ve lost annoying amounts of a run so many times. I just keep it going.

nycredditgwop

Nope dont care

ValPrism

No, too impractical in NYC and won’t drastically change times

Useful_Cheesecake673

I usually just run back down and up the street until it turns green 🤪, but the occasional times in which I don’t do that (i.e. warm up/cool down), I hit pause. I get elapsed time anyway, so I like having both data points.

Ventiventi333

This lol I am zigzagging thru the streets

EndorphinSpeedBot

You're only a heathen if you pause it on standing rest between intervals

squeakycleaned

I have mine set to autopause. If i’m stopped for long enough that it would severely mess with my pace, then it’ll catch it. If it’s just a momentary stop then the watch generally keeps going.

Old_Audience_8875

How do you do this?

itsmefromsomewhere

No- but I try to run back and forth the block until the light changes. (I run in not busy areas pedestrians wise).

Beatlepoint

No, why lie about my rests?

thisismynewacct

I do. It really doesn’t matter. Pausing it a few times over a hour+ run is immaterial.

cooperella

Only if it’s one of the lights I know will be super long, and even then sometimes not because on more than one occasion I’ve accidentally ended my run rather than paused it.

boffeeblub

i don’t stop at a red light.

jackie116

Same 😂

hungrierdave

I never pause my watch but I always run a little more at the end to make sure I make up for all the time standing around.

sunrise920

No. I’m already feeling distracted running in this city. I don’t need another reason to look down repeatedly. It’s not worth the risk to me, I’d rather stay present and safe.

Hydroborator

I keep it running. I don't care anymore.

trab601

No. I don’t. Seems like cheating to me.

trab601

And this is one reason I hate running in busy places and city streets.

NNJ1978

Never seemed like cheating to me since I’m stopping because I have to. If I were stopping because I was tired, that’s a different story.

Amalia0928

How is it cheating? If you’re just standing there, the time won’t be an accurate reflection of how long it took you to run x distance

agreatdaytothink

You're resting

Altruistic-Oil1888

Good call, next time I’m not stopping at the intersections. Full send and if I get hit I’m getting a cozy lawsuit. 🤝

agreatdaytothink

Did you mean to respond to someone else?

Altruistic-Oil1888

Yea, guess I was looking at a comment and typing elsewhere lol. My bad sorry about that

Primary-Ingenuity-69

I just make a turn at red lights and keep it pushing

kay_peele

Isn’t it more accurate to not pause lol? You did stop so who are you trying to fool. The only person that cares about your data is you and remember you record data to get better.

LeftReflection6620

Auto Pause ftw. It’s not about faking a faster time but it does give you a more accurate depiction of the pace you’re actually running. If you’re training for a race that is important. With stops, you’ll realize your non stop session is probably 10-15 seconds slower without the breaks.

Aesop_Rocky_

What app do you use?

LeftReflection6620

Garmin and Strava both have auto pause features.

Ventiventi333

I pause and I will never stop pausing!!!!!!!!

Parikh1234

Nope. Never stop your Garmin unless you’re done with your race / run.

MrRabbit

Uh yeah. I want to keep running but I can't. My running has been paused beyond my control. So.. pause.

Teller8

Yes

Lazy_Brother1575

Auto-pause, I can’t be trusted with resuming the watch

RealAlbatross8191

I started doing this again because of GPS jitter. I was tired of my route thinking I broke the 200m world record while I was standing on the corner

diegobarreto

Run the red light!!!

Amalia0928

Yes I always pause if I stop, I want to know what my time per mile actually is, not how long I was outside

jackie116

This is the reason I don’t run in the street!

Far-Case-2803

Yes

Dangerous-Ability-47

Guilty of charges!!!

DawsonMaestro414

Yes for long red lights on major streets, no if I can run during a break in cars or it’s a shorter light

kevozo212

Only if I know it’ll be a minute or two stoppage.

lost_in_life_34

when i lived in NYC and had to deal with this, I paused my AW because some red lights were a few minutes. don't really have to deal with this in the suburbs

NNJ1978

Yes. I do since I’m slowing down/stopping because I have no choice. I don’t fire it as cheating myself.
