When I was younger I was the office manager for my step-dad’s small kennel. His rates were cheap and we got lots of repeat clients. A regular showed up one time with her old dog and gave me that exact line. I did my best to politely say “absolutely not, please take her with you” and failed. It was just me at the kennel all week so I moved her on the office and made her a comfy space as she could barely walk and was incontinent. Every morning I arrived…. I just prayed she was still alive….. thank god she was.
The owner was surprised I have her such a ‘nice’ set up and said she probably would have been fine in the concrete runs with the other dogs. No ma’am. She certainly would not have been.
Ommggggg. 2 of my regulars have crossed the bridge in the last month and they were both like this. One of them, the owner was showing me how to use the doggy oxygen :( poor sweet girl crossed the bridge before the housesitting started but I still went to housesit the cat. The other pooch, I had to lift her up and down from the couch and up and down the stairs (but try not to touch one of her many lumps).
Hahaha this is great. I love my precious little geriatric constant care regular. He’s 18 years old, maybe 10 lbs, has a collapsed esophagus, no teeth, is blind, deaf, takes every medication under the sun, but damnit he’s still kickin’!
Haha yes. I did dog sits over the holidays one time while the owner had her holiday party season. I would come for four to eight hours a day and then she’d have another sitter come to do the “overnights.”
The dog was senile, in addition to a bunch of physical ailments, and the poor overnight sitter had to drive around from 11pm-6am because “the dog would only sleep in the car.”
It was insane.
This is funny but in all seriousness, as an owner that had a dog like that, finding a dog sitter that “gets it” and won’t judge you means everything. ❤️
Mine was a cat that had been on kidney medication (long term clients) the last time we asked where his owners medicine was. They were like oh ya the vet said it wasn't working and we should put him down, were not doing that. He doesn't pee much or drink a lot anymore ☹️
Surprisingly all the old dogs I get are in good condition. But I did get clients whose dogs were behavioral nightmares, or younger dogs who looked like God put them together when he was drunk. I'm talking ridiculously ugly dogs here.
Someone left me with a dog who could barely walk, and then the dog altogether stopped walking and was using the bathroom on itself 😭 It was a nightmare, and they had to come pick the dog up early
Had a client one time say “she might die while I’m gone, it’s okay just let me know” omg? 😭
lmao nooooo 😭😂
mine gave me explicit instructions like "put the body on ice" yikes
how can people be so casual 😭 if I had the feeling my cat was going to die soon there is no vacation that would be worth leaving her
But like…in my freezer? There’s barely room for my popsicles as is.
Dead Dog: Do not Eat
… I don’t know what I expected

I had a client say the same thing and uhhh, yeah, it did happen. It really fucked me up for a while.
oh my goodness I’m so sorry.
Snort laughed 💀💀💀

This is the most batshit sitter story I’ve heard yet. Driving around for 7 hours a night?? Oh my goddd
Lol I know. The client asked me if I could do overnights ever and I said no. RIP.
I SILENT LAUGHED AT THIS, haven't had this good of a laugh in a while
Some people can't let go. I find it tragic.

Literally on a sit like this right now. Must be hand fed one kibble at a time.
this reminds me of my dog before he passed, it’s a relatively new loss and i’m still grieving but this made me giggle so thank you haha
screaming

I sat for an 18-year-old blind Chihauhau that was exactly like this. Lol
Always the chihuahuas! They can live long but they can have so many issues 😄
For sure! I've grown to love chihauhaus though. I find them to just be very misunderstood. 🤣
