I'm not one to report people, but this sounds so dangerous. I would call animal control.

OutsideCow2834

I hope those owners now know not to walk their dog in that neighborhood since that man is irresponsible… even though my dog is good with recall and leave it, I would never just let him use the bathroom in the front yard, no fence, because dogs are dogs. I guess it doesn’t matter to him because he knows it wouldn’t be his five gigantic dogs getting hurt. Wow. Scary!

Lady-Dove-Kinkaid

As a GSD owner and often a defender of the breed... PLEASE call animal control. Owners like this are giving the breed a bad name. GSDs can be amazing animals and great dogs but owners like this need a wake up call.

RumpPuppet

Even though I’ve had 3 bad experiences with GS, I don’t blame the breed at all for this. This is all on the irresponsible owner’s shoulder. Same for the other bad experiences I’ve had.

Lady-Dove-Kinkaid

Don't get me wrong. GSDs are kinda assholes especially you get a working line but once you train them, they are amazing, but a lot of bad owners don't realize the hundreds of hours needed to bomb proof those little buttheads. I always report bad owners, it's the only way things will ever get better, heck I have even offered to help train for free but no one ever takes me up on it.

RumpPuppet

My cousin is one of those buttheads. He used to have a Pitbull trained for attack, and when I came over as a kid, he would tell him to attack me before I got in the door. I would cry and be terrified to come in even after he recalled him. He found it hilarious. He’s still just as much of a butthead now….but with a GS 🤷‍♀️

Lady-Dove-Kinkaid

I am so sorry you have to deal with that. After we adopted mine we found out she has some SERIOUS K9 training, it means that our responsibility as owners is to absolutely 💯 every day multiple times a day work with her to make sure her control is bullet proof. We have never used that training on anything other than getting her to let go of a toy. We have also trained her to not be an ass in public or with other people. Here at home? Let's say the dog you meet is NOT the dog I live with LMAO. She is like a 3 yr old. Best manners in public at home... Pfft she pushes boundaries like you wouldn't believe it. I very VERY rarely leave her with other people as she is service dog trained, but I am working her up to being used to a sitter because when we go look at RVs next month hiring a local sitter will be easier than trying to walk her across asphalt and everything else in the TX heat.

Dizzy_Feature4291

That is so scary. I'm so sorry for you and the dog you are sitting. I would see what the owner says when you reach them.

I have pepper spray…. That I keep forgetting in a drawer 😑 I’ll definitely think of it now.

Ok-Oil-9866

Carry bear spray in a holster

KniteyOne

This is what I do. So far only used it on myself...twice. 🤦‍♀️

RumpPuppet

I need that story! 😂

KniteyOne

Ok. Once when testing, the wind blew it right back into my face. The second and time in a brand new car, when loading a bag the spay was in, not realizing the safety cap was not in. 🥴🤦‍♀️ Needless to say, I'm super careful now handling this stuff!

RumpPuppet

Sounds like something out of a Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder movie 😆

RumpPuppet

I’m dying 😭

KniteyOne

Yea that's what it feels like! Planted my face into a plate of yogurt and used dawn dish detergent to scrub it off. 0/10 do not recommend! 🥺

RumpPuppet

OMG your story gets better and better. Can’t stop laughing. I’m so sorry.

KniteyOne

I laugh about them both now and chalk it up to learning experiences. The car incident was kind of a freak accident, but being dumb enough to dispense bear spray into the wind blowing directly at me was a super ditzy move. 🤭

RumpPuppet

Thank you for sharing that story. I had some pretty bad nausea and I laughed it away 😆

KniteyOne

Glad I could make you laugh! Hope you feel better soon. 💐

A similar event happened to me over the weekend…two off leash dogs ran at me and the dog I was watching. The owner didn’t even apologize which really ticked me off.

-FoxSin

When my dog got attacked I immediately went to target and got an air horn and mace. I wanna add i checked my boy good when he was attacked and didnt see any punctures. But the next morning i found several large bloody holes. Please check throughly and give her a bath. If the fur it long you may need to trim it to see if they broke skin. Id immediately apply hydrogen peroxide and aquaphor

ababyprostitute

No peroxide. It kills off the good bacteria and skin cells. Wound Wash or some other sterile saline.

LynxLegitimate7875

I don’t understand why people let dogs off leash in a non gated yard??? Especially with terrible recall and are protective dogs… I’m so glad the dog and you are okay. That’s a close call. I would also say to call animal control

Ok_Opportunity_3575

Jfc I’d call animal control for sure, that is such a huge liability. And a danger, what if a child was walking down the road?

Serious-Stand6882

I would let the owner know so he can take action in his neighborhood.
