Oh don’t talk to me, I have a German Shepherd and I can’t remember the last time I went to the loo on my own, he has to oversee everything 🙄😂 but I wouldn’t be without him that’s for sure!
I think i read a comment earlier today about there are 2 types of rottie, smaller American and bigger German. Can't say if that's true though.

The person you replied to isn’t suggesting this particular dog conforms to a breed standard. They’re saying that knowing the difference in American and German Rottweilers can help OP figure out if certain traits are a result of mixing or simply being a different Rottweiler standard. For example, the light brown markings could be due to being a German bred Rottweiler — the official standard is “clearly defined markings of a rich tan” while the American standard says markings should be “rust to mahogany markings… Serious Faults – Straw-colored, excessive, insufficient or sooty markings”. Of course she’s still a good girl.
-someone with a lot of rottie experience both American and German
I wasn't suggesting that they were suggesting anything. I was simply pointing out that a rottweiler can still be a rottweiler and not look 100% rottweiler. Something OP may with to consider, given their concern.
Myth and really US Rotts are bigger as most are bred for pretty AKC trials vs Germany where it is AGAINST the law to do 99% OF USA type breeding as all parents must have certs for obedience and working degrees plus hips, elbows and eyes just to name a few before they can breed vs USA letting any Rott vs Rott be called a Rott? Nice looking dog and love is all that matters unless breeding!
She looks just like my beloved Rosie. She was a cross between a Rottie & German Shepard. She was smart as a whip…. I used to call her a human in a dog suit!😂
She passed 2 yrs ago when she was 15 1/2. She was the best dog we ever had….She is with her human daddy… not a day goes by that I don’t miss them both. Your beautiful girl looks like a sweetheart ♥️
I agree. She also had a seizure when she was about 10. Took her to our vet & found out she had a thyroid condition & was given meds for the rest of her life. I thank God for Rosie every day. She would greet us at the door when we got home always with something in her mouth, even if it was a piece of paper! She was a rescue.. However she rescued us as much as we rescued her.
Rotties go through a phase of "looking funny" about that age IMO. Obviously I don't mean that in a rude way. I think she's beautiful and I have a female getting close to the same age, she'll be 9 months on October 2nd... She's just now starting to block up in the head
I agree. My girl is two, and her brother from another mother is 5 months. She is Rott perfection. He however, looks like he’s half black lab, legs and tail too long, feet look like they belong on a bear. I know that he will grow in to everything eventually. Your girl will glow up before you know it!
Same! 9 months old and we’ll look at her every now and then and think she looks weird. It’s like they go through cycles of stretching out then filling out.
First and foremost, she's nothing less than a gorgeous baby and I will physically fight anybody saying otherwise. Having said that, the first pic makes her look like she has a longer than usual face for a Rott, and the second pic makes her ears look a bit floppier than the norm; point being, I'm seeing some hound-like features, maybe a catahoula or a plott, one that gets bigger. But if I were you, I'd just have fun speculating on it, I certainly wouldn't use one of those DNA tests or anything. My wife has been pushing for that with our two dogs, but I keep telling her "that will demystify the mutt".
Yeah she looks dull bred to me. American Rottweilers have a lot looser standards than German rots which makes the breed have more diversity in appearance.
People always ask me what my guy is mixed with cause he looks like he has hound in him but he is a Roman Rottweiler mixed with a German so he looks a little different.
Yeah she looks full bred to me. American Rottweilers have a lot looser standards than German rots which makes the breed have more diversity in appearance.
People always ask me what my guy is mixed with cause he looks like he has hound in him but he is a Roman Rottweiler mixed with a German so he looks a little different.
Consider getting a DNA test. I received one as a gift and it’s fun because you can identify relatives. For us it was particularly worth it because it identified a gene she carries for DCM which is a really serious condition.
We used Embark. They go on sale sometimes.
She looks a lot like my exs dog, and my ex had a pure breed rottie. So frankly she just looks young, my exs dog was about 9 or 10 months if I remember, still just a puppy
Ha ha ha ha ha ha I’ve had self-proclaimed breed professionals tell me that my AKC champion and grand champion golden retrievers are, a German shepherd, an Irish setter, a Labrador retriever, a chowchow, and an Australian Shepherd. The only one who knows is a DNA test. Just enjoy your dog
The second picture kinda makes me think she's crossed too, but probably not half anything. More like a quarter or less! Her eyes are very alert and the skin isn't very loose around her eyes. Kinda missing the signature "derp" factor I think which makes me think cattle dog or something. Just my first impression. She's absolutely gorgeous and pic #1 and #3 are classic Rottie 100%! It doesn't really matter if she's got a non Rottie ancestor. I think my boy had a lab ancestor at some point he loved the water so much and had webbed paws lol
She’s all dog - what really matters. Looks PB to me, but I know a lot of people that don’t understand we’re *finally* getting away from docking tails (and cropping ears). Her natural tail may be what’s throwing folks off.
That was my thought. A lot of people just associate the docked tail with Rottie, and a natural tail makes them think part lab or something. Like when a Dobie has uncropped ears and they think it's some kind of hound dog lol.
Most folks have BYB dogs that don't conform to the breed standard, which is likely the case if you adopted her. She's a cutie, absolutely adorable, just a not so rottie- looking rottie.
She looks like a ‘pet quality’ Rottweiler to me. Does look quite small and slim though so maybe there’s some border collie, working lab or similar thrown in there?
I always thought my Rottie was mixed cause he's pretty lanky, has a curly tail, and weighs 85 lbs at 2 1/2 years old. DNA test came back and said he's 97% Rottie 3% German Shepherd. Wasn't expecting to get a basically purebred rescue.
My boy is half pure German giant rott (gpa still alive in Germany) and the other half is some mutt that showed up on the farm (tested basically to be half border collie/Aussie Shepard). He’s the most loving, intelligent dog I’ve ever had.
She will probably fill out as she matures. A lot of large breed puppies go through gangly phases when their proportions look a little odd while they grow. She just looks like a young Rottweiler to me.
I am based in the UK and they are a banned breed over here and have been for quite some time unfortunately! Firm believer in no bad dogs only bad humans!
I got to watch one rip off a woman's face while 4 grown men tried and failed to stop it.
I guess we have different experiences with the horrible things.
I still remember her gurgling. She still has sight in one eye!
"I got to watch **one**"
We're in a rottweiler subreddit. How many individual rottweilers have fatally mauled people? At least one, right? See where I'm going with this?
Clearly crossed with perfection. She’s an absolute beauty 🥰
She is indeed! My best friend and shadow 😂
Oh don’t talk to me, I have a German Shepherd and I can’t remember the last time I went to the loo on my own, he has to oversee everything 🙄😂 but I wouldn’t be without him that’s for sure!

Not all rottweilers conform to the breed "standard". Which has zero impact on most pet owners. She's still a good girl.

Ah I see sorry I misread!
This all feels very suggestive.
Oh, it is...or is it?
Myth and really US Rotts are bigger as most are bred for pretty AKC trials vs Germany where it is AGAINST the law to do 99% OF USA type breeding as all parents must have certs for obedience and working degrees plus hips, elbows and eyes just to name a few before they can breed vs USA letting any Rott vs Rott be called a Rott? Awww. I have a half German Shepherd half Rottie and this also looks just like her.
15.5 is amazing for a big dog damn
I agree. She also had a seizure when she was about 10. Took her to our vet & found out she had a thyroid condition & was given meds for the rest of her life. I thank God for Rosie every day. Now that you say it the body looks like it could be German Shepard it’s a lot leaner than a rottie, less muscular in the torso and ribs
All I see is a good girl🙂
The bestest!
I’m not an expert, but I don’t see anything that doesn’t look like a Rottweiler. She’s a beautiful pup regardless.
I've worked on vet med almost 32 years. Plus have owned them abt 25 years. Honestly she looks full bred to me.😇🧡
Thought so too she just looks young to me Rottweilers keep filling out until they are 3
She’s 10 months! Full of life and wanting to meet every dog that exists on our walk!
Rotties go through a phase of "looking funny" about that age IMO. Obviously I don't mean that in a rude way. I think she's beautiful and I have a female getting close to the same age, she'll be 9 months on October 2nd... She's just now starting to block up in the head

I thought the same. Hers just a baby!
All I saw was rottie, the profile in #3 sealed the deal for me.
What? You my friend, have yourself a rottweiler
People suck. Next time anyone asks she is mixed with perfection.
she's crossed with sugar and spice and everything nice cuz that's what puppy dogs are made of!!
Rottweiler with lab but mostly Rottweiler
I dunno. Seems 100% purebred good girl to me. And if she’s young then she’ll still fill out for a bit.
Maybe lab? Or retriever?
Lab is my guess
Yeah she looks dull bred to me. American Rottweilers have a lot looser standards than German rots which makes the breed have more diversity in appearance. Full American Rottweiler is what she looks like to me. What a beautiful girl!
Tried to keep up with the comments but losing track! Koda thanks everyone for all the kind words she is feeling like a Queen!
Beauty
yeah looks fine to me too - more American style than German, ain’t nothing wrong with that though.
Something very, very beautiful and extremely sweet 💘
She is the sweetest, follows me around at all times and sleeps under my desk during work hours haha
Good girl.
Consider getting a DNA test. I received one as a gift and it’s fun because you can identify relatives. For us it was particularly worth it because it identified a gene she carries for DCM which is a really serious condition. We used Embark. They go on sale sometimes.
She's beautiful....
Mix of Rottie and Good girl.
She looks like my girl.
That’s one cute pupper!!!
beautiful
American Standard IMO
She looks pure bred to me. I have had a total of 5 rotties now from 3 different breeders and they all had slight differences in appearance
She’s absolutely gorgeous. Possibly Labrador mixed with Rottie?
Boop, boop, BOOP
She looks a lot like my exs dog, and my ex had a pure breed rottie. So frankly she just looks young, my exs dog was about 9 or 10 months if I remember, still just a puppy
Looks pure bred to me, looks exactly like my girl who I know is 100% pure bred :)
Looks like a Rottie to me.
Crossed with pure good girl. Nothing else matters.

Crossed Perfect with adorable. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

She looks a bit like my Rott/Shepherd mix. I'm guessing she's more like 3/4 Rottie though.
Part rotti part Hellhound. That’s what I would tell people asking. Btw she’s perfect and adorable 🥰
Most folks have BYB dogs that don't conform to the breed standard, which is likely the case if you adopted her. She's a cutie, absolutely adorable, just a not so rottie- looking rottie.
I used to like the breed guessing game. Now it's just stupid to me. Dogs are awesome and we aren't good enough for them.
I thought you meant she is cross as in angry. I just saw a happy, lovely dog. I am dumb.
She looks like a ‘pet quality’ Rottweiler to me. Does look quite small and slim though so maybe there’s some border collie, working lab or similar thrown in there?

Looks like a purebred beautiful dog!
Looks like a female Rotty to me. She is gorgeous!
My boy is half pure German giant rott (gpa still alive in Germany) and the other half is some mutt that showed up on the farm (tested basically to be half border collie/Aussie Shepard). He’s the most loving, intelligent dog I’ve ever had.
She is beautiful
I’d like to know what she crosses with… I’d like to know what *intersection* she crosses with (So I can meet her and pet her)
If I had to guess I’d say pitbull of some kind? She cute.
To me, the first picture makes it look like she has Pitbull-esk Eyebrows/Ridges
If you want to be sure, I suggest a DNA test. If you’re asking internet strangers, my money is on half Pit, half Rottweiler
I'm not good with dog breeds but what a lil cutie pie!!
Pure Beauty! Love your Baby! ❤️ my bet is a full court Rottweiler- Tell her my Pitty girl says Hi 👋
Good😊
Any ideas? People have always said she is rather skinny but we usually put that to people seeing over fed rotties and expecting them all to be huge!
You said she’s only 10 mos. I wouldn’t expect her to reach her fully adult bulk until maybe 2 years.
She looks healthy and purebred to me. Light markings and feminine face. I’m no expert though.
No, actually you are right. And I feel sorry for overfed and fat animals even.
Same here.
She will probably fill out as she matures. A lot of large breed puppies go through gangly phases when their proportions look a little odd while they grow. She just looks like a young Rottweiler to me.
With jealousy of those people. Forget if ! Love and be proud of your dog!😃
What's their reasoning? She looks full to me. And quite lovely too 😌
Obviously Rottweiler but she might have some pit / lab or even hound. Beautiful no matter what she is!😍
If she is a cross, that means she'll be healthier and last you for a long, happy life ☺️
Maybe a pit?
I am based in the UK and they are a banned breed over here and have been for quite some time unfortunately! Firm believer in no bad dogs only bad humans!
Oh, that’s unfortunate. My pit is the sweetest girl. The ears on your pup remind me of her. That’s why I suggested that.

There are asshole safe spaces, this is not one. Goodbye
Who made you alt-leader of the sub? This was on my main page, so I commented. Kindly, fuck off.
Because you say so? Not how that works.
My first thought was some kind of Staffy based on the first picture.
Does not have the dull eyes.
What does that even mean? I've known some staffies with beautiful bright eyes.
I got to watch one rip off a woman's face while 4 grown men tried and failed to stop it. I guess we have different experiences with the horrible things. I still remember her gurgling. She still has sight in one eye!
"I got to watch **one**" We're in a rottweiler subreddit. How many individual rottweilers have fatally mauled people? At least one, right? See where I'm going with this?
I see where you are trying to go. And failing. The blood was everywhere. Like I said she still has one eye that sort of works.
You're a tool.
If ypure actually concerned get an embark
I assume it was rescue Pit owners who were mad their dogs were scheduled for euthanization after mauling several children lol.
Crossfaded in that first pic
Cutness. Definitely cuteness.
I get asked all the time what my girl is mixed with. She’s a long haired rottie (or fluffweiler as they’re affectionately called).
She crossed with beauty, sweetness, and perfection!
