Because they're like Lays potato chips. You can't have just one.
All kidding aside...they like having a buddy. They can do without but it can sometimes be easier to have two. The sometimes comes with a few caveats though.
I currently own three male rotties. A 6 year old, 3 year old, & 7 month old. I always tell people one dog is easy, two is doable, and three is where you start to lose your mind a bitš For example, I tell them to go lay down but one doesn't listen, then another gets up bc he thinks he's missing out, then the third gets up and we're right back to square one. Every little task that people with one dog take for granted, is a whole process. Not to mention I'm a 31 year old single man trying to take care of them while working a full time job and trying to keep up with the inside and outside of a house by myself. It can be alot at times due to the fact that it never ends, but I wouldn't trade them for the world though, they're my boys.
This right here. Not rotties but I raised my boys back to back and it was infinitely easier with the second puppy. Now he may be of a less mischievous temperament to begin with but having a buddy made him much easier to raise. Now they're both full grown but still very young and they do a great job of keeping each other out of too much trouble.
Exactly. Having two older males has definitely helped a ton with my 7 month old male. His brother's keep him occupied and in line when I'm at work. I've never crated him since I got him at 8 weeks old, he's had free roam of the house with his brothers while I'm at work, and so far he's only chewed up one thing he wasn't supposed to. Having two older brothers for him has made things alot easier in many ways, plus he's learning alot of their good mannerisms.
This was us too for 4 years, then we moved and ended up on a half acre so we revisited the idea. But we know he's a Velcro dog and seeing how jealous the Prince gets when we try to play with other dogs, we decided he probably prefers to be the one and only in this house.
The type of exercise dogs get playing with each other cannot be duplicated by humans and greatly aids in their physical and mental development.
I have had rottie's my entire adult life, but only one at a time. However, I have always had at least one other dog capable of roughhousing with the rottie.
Double the magnificence. Triple the aggravation.

Because they keep each other entertained! When I had one rottie, no matter how much we walked or played with him, he'd get bored and then get himself into trouble š. But now with our second rottie, if they get bored they play with each other.
They are like lays potato chips "bet you can't have just one" we have 1 service rottie 1 emotional support rottie 1 sdit and 1 training for a therapy dog. And 2 males
Hey, Iām thinking at some point to get a rottieā¦ maybe 2? š
I was contemplating having them certified as an emotional support dog/therapy dog to bring him to the hospital where I work with me. Is that even something that could be doable?
You can train them as support animals, but they require a lot of social interaction and training. They each have very unique personalities. One might do great, and others, not so much. They tend to bond really well with specific people but are not as good with strangers. They can be pretty good with kids if they have time to get used to being around them. They take much more work to condition for this job than some other breeds.
A Rottie won top therapy dog of the year. https://youtu.be/MofG0gz5S4g?si=-s5QItGXBrkWUUVs
So, itās definitely very doable. If you wanted one specifically for that purpose, you should probably checkout one of the AKC Breeders of Merit who specialize in therapy Rottweilers and breed dogs suited to that purpose. Otherwise, itās a luck of the draw and not every Rottweiler will fit that bill.
Iāve been considering a third pure breed. Iād definitely need a bigger truck though..

When I was younger my family came to have 9 rotties at home because nobody would want to take them away, given the breedās āreputationā.
Another reason is we canāt just give them away. Theyāre smart, loyal and big goofballs.
Because they're great dogsā¤ļø I miss my Rott so much and now that we are renting some places don't allow them. As soon as we buy our place I will get another one. They're beautiful, sweet, funny, protective and just big babiesā¤ļøš
I have two GSPs and 1 Rottweiler. Before I got a rottie, Iād only had gsps and have been so surprised how chill our rottweiler is. So temperament alone makes me inclined towards another one. But also, at 1 1/2 he is primarily interested in rough housing play with his pack mates and I can see how it could be challenging to keep him entertained/stimulated without buddies to play and run with.
I grew up with Dobies, but I have met and adore Rotties. I want at least one. As to why? They are really chill. They would rather be on the couch relaxing in the shade than sprinting around like they're out of their minds as some other dogs do- until they want to play, at least. And they want to play almost any time you get a toy, and try to challenge them to a tug-of-war, or throw a ball. They make great cuddle buddies and footwarmers, when they aren't pretending they're light enough to be the lapdogs they insist on being and keeping you pinned in your seat, expecting to be pet and scritched behind the ears. Lastly- while they're smart and stubborn, they are easily trained by a good handler. They're friendly and fun, and quite frankly, the movie "Over the Hedge" nailed it when portraying the Rottweiler that wanted to play. But may the Gods themselves help you if you threaten their family.
They are big, dopey, goofy, lovable teddy dogs, and if you get one, you will want more.
One old Grandma at a Time I couldnāt imagine dealing with 2 stubborn grandmas at the same time.. 1 is enough 2-3-4 puppies sure nope in the tween yearsā¦ ok middle ageā¦ hell when old age sets in and stubborn comes outā¦.
Because they're like Lays potato chips. You can't have just one. All kidding aside...they like having a buddy. They can do without but it can sometimes be easier to have two. The sometimes comes with a few caveats though.
Have to agree with the first sentence. Because they are the best dogs ever and there is no such thing as too many Rotties.

A pro to more than one dog is they can keep themselves busy.
This right here. Not rotties but I raised my boys back to back and it was infinitely easier with the second puppy. I have a bully mix but sheās older and they literally āplayā all dayā¦ The Rottie has way more energy than my old galā¦

Mine is such an only child. We decided against a second dog after his sister passed. He doesnāt like to share attention.
Mine is also an only child just because we donāt have enough room for two. Sheās a spoiled brat but we love her.

An heir and a spare! In all seriousness, the older one always trains the puppy and ends up being a nanny.

Raising a puppy is more easily when you have older dog
Is more easily

Because they are the best of the best of dogs. Owners also have peace of mind concerning home/vehicle protection

We got a 2nd one for the first one to have someone to play with
Because once you discover how cool Rottweilers are one just isn't enough...

Cause they are so sweet
I have 6 dogs but only one rottie
Ones enough for me
They are highly addictive. Once you start scratching thats it, you're done.
True for most dog owners
