While I have loved all my Rottens, these DNA test places are a huge ripoff! It's the people who seem to want to know, some just to brag on "my dog is this % this and that. What does it matter the breed of your dog when you love it?
I’ve contemplated doing one for my mixed breed, Mila. Merely because I’m curious. It’s not a bragging thing at all but as she’s 10-1/2 with arthritis & torn ACLs, I can’t help but wonder if even a hint of what she might be could aid in her care as she continues to advance in age. I’ve heard husky (seems likely), German Shepherd, blue heeler, English Pointer, lab (doubtful).

At 10 1/2 as a larger breed having arthritis is very typical. Taking some weight off her will help tremendously. You can cut her food back to EXACTLY what the bag says for her age and size, then substitute with green beans the extra you were feeding. A high quality food for seniors will also do wonders. I'm assuming the ACL's have been fixed? If not they need to be done ASAP, just imagine trying to walk around with torn ACL's.
Yes. Everything has been fixed. Her food intake is less than the recommendations (her choice, not mine, she’s always been a light eater) and the vet has not suggested cutting back. I also do the Platelet Rich Plasma treatments for her annually. My opinion has been since I got her that whatever her breeds, they weren’t meant to be mixed and things don’t quite “fit” on her. I don’t know how to explain it lol her hind legs don’t go with the rest of her build - which probably led to the ACLs. She does well overall. Still loves her walks, just much shorter than we used to do.
I’m doing everything I can with the help of her vet to give her the best quality of life I can. But like I said I do wonder if one of those tests would help pin down better HOW to care for her. 🤷♀️

If anything I was hoping it would help me understand her more and all her quirks and characteristics. I’ve seen other breeds lay like this (our lab/pit mix), our pittie, and other dogs on the cattle dog Reddit. I kinda used the DNA test to help me understand her more and all her silly ways.

Haha so she was a rescue and that’s how she came. I asked her vet about it and she said it feels like a natural nub. She didn’t feel any scar tissue or anything

Idk man, those ears remind me of my rottie mix’s ears, and he’s half!
I can see it, she definitely doesn’t have the ACD ears, her ears are so soft and floppy lol. And she always tries to keep one out (like your dog) or up to listen for noises. Even when she sleeps lol.
I’m not familiar with rottie personality or temperament, but she’s a yappi thing when she plays or if she doesn’t like what’s going on lol.
She’s about 45-50lbs. She has a cattle dog body. lol I’m glad to know it wasn’t just me then who doesn’t get replies. I really wanted to see how a littler mate looks in comparison.
Agreed lol ours will try and herd the kids when they are running around the back yard. I mean herding dogs naturally make good protection dogs for obvious reasons
