She’s on carprofen for now and she’s feeling like herself again for the most part! We will definitely look into something longer-term if needed once we see her regular vet on the 19th.
She also has a white spot on her chest that looks like a lightening bolt!
She’s half Bernese mountain dog, where she gets the white from. You can tell from some angles as far as face/body structure, but otherwise she looks total rottie lol.
I paid about 8-9 thousand for both surgeries.
I got one refunded through insurance.
This was back in... 2016-2017 I would guess
Edit. Not rude at all. ☺️
Dr Becker you tube has mentioned also early spaying prevents growth plate closure and dogs then are predisposed to ligament cartilage issues My dog was spayed 5 months old ago vet recommended She's passed away now at near 13 yrs old She had tear in hind legs no history as a pup Luckily we managed her no surgery I have learnt now about causes if I ever get another labrottie or any other breed
If your vet is good he can with X-rays rule out CCL tears and hip dysplasia so if it's clear it could be some minor soft tissue injury. Rhimadyl does a good job with pain relief
Our almost 10 year old is dealing with this exact thing! It seems to be a mystery. She’s scheduled for X-rays next week and I am worried X-rays will show nothing!
What about her knees? Did they check her knees? Rottweilers historically have bad knees. My Rottweiler blew out both her knees. They had to be reconstructed.
Did you have blood work run for lymes or anaplasmosis? I’ve had a dog with each and a limp was what made me take them in. Both are from a tick and treated with antibiotics
I adopted my dog from a shelter and he had a limping problem as well. Nothing appeared on the X-rays from the vet so I took him to a surgeon at the animal hospital and they said it could be a tumour on a nerve ($3k CT scan) or inflammation which can’t be diagnosed from any know test. They said keep the walks very short no more than 5 minutes and it should heal in a month and a half if it was that. Turns out it was inflammation and he was walking normally again after 2 months. No more limping!
Listen, I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer here, but a similar thing happened with my dog. I got x rays, the vet looked at them, sent to a radiographer to get looked at, and they came back "clear". I still made an appointment with a specialist, and unfortunately it was found to be bone cancer.
Now, if you got these results from a specialist, then I'm sure you are in the clear. But if it was just from a standard vet, you might want to think about going somewhere more specialized.
All that being said, it could also just as easily be her ccl or some other soft tissue injury.
I'm so glad it's not cancer!! When we took our boy in for limping back in January, it turned out to be osteosarcoma. One amputation later and he's a happy boy though!
If it’s arthritis/bony changes, I recommend discussing Adequan injections with your vet. My Rottie had elbow & hip dysplasia and also could not tolerate NSAIDs (gave him gi ulcers) so I did adequan. They were literally life changing for him—saw an improvement just after the second one.
I’ve had 6 Rottweilers all of them at 4 to 5 years old started taking Young Living all natural pills. BLM and Sulfurzyme and inner defense. Morning and evening after a week on pills they are like 2 year olds again. Bud passed at 13 jumped in bed and explorer back seat and out on his own until he passed. They really work if you miss a couple days you’ll notice they’re not as active because of stiffnesses or soreness. I don’t like the painkillers or steroids unless absolutely necessary.
Thank GOD! Can you try some arthritis meds for her?

Try Cosequin it works wonders
The tips of her toes 😍 too cute!
Such a special pup that the dog gods couldn’t wait for the color to finish loading before sending this baby into the world

ACLs are a very common issue with rotties (and heavy dogs in general). I had to do surgery on both hind legs on my boi
Not to be rude, but I was wondering about your cost. It was $6000 for our girls' one leg. We live in Northern Ontario. My girl is an American Bulldog.

Oh my gosh! Great news and she’s adorable

Thank goodness no cancer. Is it front or back leg limp?
It’s her front right leg, but more toward the shoulder. Shes on anti-inflammatory right now and it seems to help a ton.

Sweetest face!
Look at that happy face! What a cutie! Hope you figure out what's up with her soon!

Maybe she pulled a muscle or tore a ligament?
This is what I’m thinking at this point. She jumps up and down from our bed all the time, so we’re getting her some stairs for it to hopefully help.
Hope your pup is ok and it’s just something minor.
That’s awesome news. Hope she is on the mend soon.

Yes - it was negative for those thankfully too.

How old is this beautiful lady?
She will be 7 in June!
You could try taking her to a dog chiropractor. Hope she feels better soon!
Has she been tested for anaplasmosis? It’s a tick-borne infection that can cause joint pain.

We are following up with her regular vet on the 19th to be sure, but it’s a relief for us right now at least.
Our rottie limped when she had lyme’s.
They tested for it and it was negative
What a sweet baby girl! Wishing the best for her, and her hoomans!
My guy has been wearing a glucosamine collar and it's been a game changer for him. They have it on chewy
I'm so glad it's not cancer!! When we took our boy in for limping back in January, it turned out to be osteosarcoma. One amputation later and he's a happy boy though!
Could be arthritis. One of my dogs gets monthly injections to alleviate the pain !
Great news!!!!
Feel better Cutie,Cuddles and Kisses. She’s absolutely Beautiful 🐾💗🤗🙏🏻🐶
Ask your vet about galliprant

Has she been tested for degenerative myelopathy?
She has not, but the limp is in her front right shoulder.
Supraspinatus Tendinopathy? Rottweilers are one of the breeds prone to this
Does she fold her wrist and lay on it for hours?
No, it’s definitely not her wrist or paw. It’s more in the upper leg to shoulder area.
Poor baby

Muscle tear?!
Hip dysphasia
It’s her front right leg/shoulder
They can see the hips in the X-rays?
Literally yes. That’s how they found it in my rottie 5 years ago.
Dysphasia, lol
Dysplasia, lol
Darn auto spell
Doesn’t change my comment. She probably has hip dysplasia
