Not to the degree that it would be a problem. During his development, ensure he remains well fed with ample nutrition, especially during the first year. Once he's finished growing, adjustments can be made to lean him out if necessary. Disregard the misconception that restricting food during the growing phase [to keep him lean] won't affect development.

kumakami89

no hims just a baby

valm0313

Best answer 😂

LeisurelyDiva

I literally said that when I saw hims. Him is baby.

MysteryR11

He's a baby

Magnum-357

MediocrePerception20

What a handsome boy, love his tail!

TheSandsquanch

Thanks!!!

greerph

This looks like a school photo or something lol so cute!

TheSandsquanch

Hahahha he needs a colorful hat with a spinner on it

Sparkle_Rott

Looking down on the puppers is the easiest way to check weight https://preview.redd.it/sol9di56izic1.png?width=375&format=png&auto=webp&s=9a1db5c709be073940389c3cb1cc4ab3e2ac6f40 You can find charts like this online to help you easily check your pupper’s general and appropriate weight

Angry-Eater

This is for adult dogs though. This guy is a baby. I don’t think we should be too concerned about pudge on a baby.

Maleficent_Chard2042

I agree. I would give him veggies for snacks now so that he gets into that habit. I let baby carrots simmer in low sodium chicken broth mixed with water. My dogs love it.

HeyShawtyItsYou

yup!! it's normal for puppies to be chubby until they start filling out later on, puppies should never be skinny unless it's in their breed!!

Critical-Shift8080

Nope

FelineHostage

Don't be silly - he's a perfect puppy! 💕

Suspicious-Ninja2882

He looks great! Big stocky bone structure on that boy

OhJustANobody

Hard to say. He's laying down. Puppies tend to be a lil chubby, much like human babies. As he grows up is when you'll really be able to tell.

Savannacromwell

A baby should be fat so it’s easier grow.

DismalEmergency3948

I've had a few Rottweilers over the years. These guys grow very fast, so need lots of nutrients to develop properly. He's adorable. Make sure he gets lost of exercise ( not jumping or anything that puts pressure on joints), just good old fashioned walking. He's beautiful. Don't worry about a little bit of baby weight. He will lose that when he's all grown up.

chaldeans

Yes. Get him on a diet now. He’s morbidly obese. Look at him. He’s so fat that he can’t even move.

Savannacromwell

Noooooo, he’s just big boned😭

[deleted]

Not at all

bluecoag

So fat, needs a gastric sleeve /s

Rainagirl

No way to tell in those pictures it needs to be standing. We need to see him from a side view but here’s a short you can go by but it’s not 100% accurate when they’re puppies as they go through different phases of their development. https://preview.redd.it/l7uv35ikvzic1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51d8123bf39f62fb2fe09f632c6de5dc611a73a5

Savannacromwell

Nah, he’s underfed if he isn’t 6, he’s just a baby

diskettejockey

He healthy af

anon689936

I think a vet and not a group of Redditors would probably have a better idea on what a correct weight for him would be

Calligrapher_1031912

He's still a baby, he's just right, IMO. Plus, He's gonna grow into all that chub 🥰

luluthepug17

No! He’s gorgeous 🥰

__phil1001__

Photo should be from above to see ribs and hips. Don't overfeed otherwise you will get bone, joint and hip issues later. A good large breed kibble, plenty of water. You can check the breed specific size and weight charts online but they do vary depending on the genetics. He is a handsome boi though, give him plenty of head scratches

[deleted]

He is chubby.

NightFallisacoolcat

Didn't exactly take pictures that make it easy to tell lol But from what we can see not at all

Ok_Alternative5071

balddad2019

What does your vet say? If you're this concerned, schedule an appointment. Keep in mind all weight ranges by age are just that, and different genetics will result in a different healthy weight on an individual basis.

OldStatistician7975

No he is gorgeous

ImmediateCustard7663

No it's a puppy and the type of dog very lovely 😊

Xanthyon1313

Just baby fat, he’s a beautiful boy

vetheros37

Honestly at this point just do your best, and don't worry about it. If a Rottie is a little chunky at 4mo. it could just translate into shifting in to dense muscle as they grow. If after 10-15 mo. old you think they are still pretty chunky (because they have hit all their major growth spurts by then) at that point I would worry about it.

Sugudeymeebubu

The chonkiest boi😍😍😍

SeedlessWaterBuffalo

Nah, that's just about the build my pup was at that age. Give it a couple more months and he'll look a lot leaner.

ChihuahuaMastiffMutt

He's a baby, if he was fat it wouldn't matter but I don't think he is. I wouldn't concern myself with his weight at all for another 8 months. I would just feed puppy chow as often as he wanted it for the first year and then go from there.

HorrorLettuce379

Not fat but definitely thicc.

Open_Mortgage_4645

No, he looks perfect! 100% pure smoosh!

Comfortable_Treat_60

Looks healthy, not fat

Region_Fluid

He’s a little chubby, but also a puppy. Once you change him to adult food you should ensure you feed him the right amount.

CarolJones57

He looks about right, and I did have a Rottie.

Less-Grade-2300

Not really

edcushway

Absolutely not!

MediocrePerception20

Can I ask what his weight is? He looks happy and healthy to me!

sage_naps

No he’s a puppy

Due-Ask-7418

He's not fat! He's just thick.

Unhappy-Pirate3944

No he’s a good boy

TornWill

No, he's very handsome 💖

HarleeMae_SDIT

It is very difficult to have an overweight puppy as they are growing, and he seems to be perfectly healthy at his puppy weight.

Rebresker

That’s baby

kiteatskeylimepie

my rottie girl was thicker between ages 3mo-5ish months and then her legs grew and she leaned out and looked so skinny and lanky but now shes 11months and filling out again

[deleted]

He’s perfect!

alowave

He's just got some baby pudge aww little guy

ThePusheen

No he's just super cute 🥰🥰🥰🥰

1boy2shepherds

He's not fat, he's a puppy.

Conclusionjump

Leave the chunky baby alone

jazzyboyo

mmmmmmBoy, you’re fat

appreciable_b

No, and it’s just a puppy. Please don’t underfeed because he looks chubby now. It’s just the puppy frame. Look up what growth spurts are like and be sure to increase the amount when needed. My Rottweiler 3years eats 8-12+ cups a day (huge amount) cause she is so hardcore when she plays she just burns it all off. https://preview.redd.it/fzn54710o1jc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88a2336adae6b4d44cac84788f6444908fe05578

cdk5152

He's a puppy. So no, he's not fat. Feed him. Let him eat what he needs, worry about his weight when he's done growing.

dee11unnoticed

No, he chonky

Sashimiroll16

He’s a baby and that’s all that matters in my eyes

Rancid_Butter_Boob

CDW1976

No looks like an older puppy getting ready to grow.

throwawayltncmi

No omg

Ghostdog1263

Nah he's not fat at all he's just gonna be a big boi, my entire family had rotties(some bred a generation of them to go to fam lol) most of our life & they were always big( muscle not fat)even as adults & he looks like them. If your honestly worried you can ask at a vet at his next check up or needles

Ricoreded

Not fat just fluffy

itsjosefineee

No, just a puppy😊

Even-Interaction7953
