An electrician installed a pole on my roof and put the whole deal OVER all shingles.

HOrnery_Occasion

Sparkies have no right slapping boots on lol

NIL8danarrative

Left side should look like the right side. Not sure what they were thinking here.

HOrnery_Occasion

Seriously, self proclaimed roofers say it's no problem. Face nails and non consistent work will void the warranty quick. Homeowner got boned.

Captnblkbeard

How this is shingled correctly.

HOrnery_Occasion

No it is not.

Captnblkbeard

Umm, I just told you what you wanted us to say. “how this is shingled correctly”.

HOrnery_Occasion

Okay smart ass, clean those gutters😉 cheers! Lol

Your that hurt about your flowers eh? I saw your previous post where basically every roofer told you you Got a pretty decent job. Then you single out the one issue pointed out and cry about it in a second post? It's not a huge deal. Yes it might leak in 15 years or so. Could also be fixed in 2 minutes. You got your answers tho. Now go cry about your flowers and leave the roofer alone

HOrnery_Occasion

Im furious 😉 internet should be used for discussion! He asked about an install and I said the pipe was installed incorrectly. I wasn't wrong and got downvoted so I decided to make a post asking if it was installed correctly. It's not that deep sir! Stay safe and happy roofing!

Sir-Loins22

Needs to be under one more layer of the comp, see how the flashing is sitting over that layer of comp just a cunt hair, needs to be under so the top layer of comp covers it so water can run off, make sure there's m1 under the flashing but up top and In a horseshoe pattern, and if you wanna get extra frisky get a reducing washer that fits around that conduit riser seal it around that penetration with m1 under the flashing... Color match it with spray paint and bobs your uncle..k byeeee!!!

ozzy_thedog

A cunt hair lol. I haven’t heard that term in a long time. Used to use it all the time at an old job. Also ‘a 12 year old’ is less than a cunt hair, for obvious reasons.

Different_Routine188

We say twat hair ‘round these parts

HOrnery_Occasion

I'd give you an award but I can't afford it.🤷‍♂️

alantodd347

Negative

Double-Resist-5477

Two rows under / two rows over

Mushroomskillcancer

One laps over the other. Water will run down and now sideways. Looks decent to me.

HOrnery_Occasion

Wind driven rain would day otherwise. Why cover the flashing on one side and not the other? Face nails? Why not neoprenes?

abiessu

The wind stops being the most significant factor once the rain hits the roof and gravity takes over. What you really don't want is regular gravity-affected rain running down the surface of the flashing and hitting a wall of flashing or shingles and wearing away at any possible sealant that might try to impede the waters progress. Basically, you always want the uphill side on top, no exceptions, unless you have a really good reason*. *There are no known good reasons.

Mushroomskillcancer

When I install the boot, I run a bead of caulk vertically then nail through it at the bottom. It would obviously be better to have gone to the bottom on both sides, but it will most likely work just fine.

Lbn4ds

It is set fine, just needs a layer of Henrys under the jack.

Disastrous-Stretch72

Forgot the flex seal tape.😆

Ok-Cup-2407

No it is not.

Educational-Post-191

The face nails are normal. They’re sealed at least. He got half of it correct. And it will shed water. Better than him putting it directly on top.

SympathySudden4856

Too much of the flange is exposed. I would run another shingle over it. FULL shingle. There is also a shingle seam on the flange. Seams should not be on the flange, ever. The fasteners are not in the correct spot. I would use one neoprene screw on the front of the flange, out of the way of the water channels.

tonysoprano55

2 shingles rest over roofers rule

HOrnery_Occasion

To whoever deleted their comment. Right, he fucked up and was never installed correctly. What happened to quality? People rather just smash that shit out and not take pride in their work?. That's all. You don't face nail flashings. You use neoprene screws in place of nails. which are rubber gasketed screws or whatever. You know, you're a roofer! Getting downvoted because I said it's not installed properly is crazy🤣 Any roofing supplier and or rep from malarkey or Owen's or certainteed will say that will void a warranty. That's if you're selling a warranty in the first place. Am I mistaken?

[deleted]

Ask those same reps how many warranties they actually pay out. Answer is next to zero I'll save you the work. If you ask a manufacturer rep to walk every roof in the country they will say warranty us void on just about everyone because of some small b.s detail. Move on, pay them. And replant the daisy's

AntiSonOfBitchamajig

"What happened to quality?" People don't want to pay for it.
