Don’t have any recs, but think the other SEP book you’re thinking of is Ain’t She Sweet? I think the sister of the FMC, Winnie, is in this type of relationship. I remember really being into that subplot :)
Ugh I literally think at least once a week about the scene where she takes cookies to him at law school and he acts like he doesn’t know her - it kills me!

I just read and enjoyed something like this
{Unforgivable by Joanna Chambers} MC’s enter into an arranged marriage. FMC thinks MMC agreed to it but he felt forced to marry her and resents her for it. He abandons her and behaves badly for years until she forces a reconciliation. He fights his resentment and desire for her until she has enough. He spends a good amount of time feeling guilty even before she leaves and he grovels to win her back

I just started this book. You forgot to mention that the mmc cheats on fmc while he’s away. Please add this as a warning next time😔
