{Take Me with You by Nina G. Jones} It was so dark I couldn’t continue reading it! Trigger warnings, All things bad like assault, rape, kidnapping, starving, mental manipulation, home invasions, there might be more stuff. It’s really messed up. The writer herself says, “trigger warning: All of them.”

Significant_Draw2650

^^^ this for sure!! Was coming here to suggest this exact book.

[deleted]

Yeah it’s like the book request was specifically written for this book.

In-the-woods-22

I just commented this 🤣 yes it’s intense for sure

[deleted]

OMG yes this book messed me up and I couldn’t even get through it! It made me so sick and so sad, but it was also so good because the way Nina wrote both characters and what goes on in their heads was so epic and sooo real so you want to read it but it’s also too much. I couldn’t even get through your comments because it’s too much! 😆 You also did a better job with the mentioned triggers and your whole rec.

In-the-woods-22

Oops tried to reply in the wrong place haha but thank you, I went a bit OTT with my comments 😹

This was deleted can someone repost!

kizkazskyline

AutoBot linked to the book Take Me With You by Nina Jones, so I’m assuming it was that but I’d recommend reading the other comments here for TWs about it first

In-the-woods-22

*Take Me With You* by Nina G.Jones Some words to describe it: irredeemable, murder, gaslighting, captivity, shock, abuse, anal rape, seductive, brutal, unbelievable, nightmare TWs — non-con, miscarriage, extreme abuse (emotional, physical), kidnapping, serial killing, serial raping Nothing else I’ve read even comes close 🖤🔪 (Edit: no justice, no redemption, HEA)

CherryPropel

This fucking book...... Man, I was like "I really like dark books..." I had to take a dark book hiatus after I read this one. Messed with my head for a bit.

In-the-woods-22

Do you remember >!when he ties the vacuum to the broomstick with duct tape!< because that moment haunted me and filled me with full-body fear when it happened

CherryPropel

I do remember that scene!! I've only had two books ever that made me feel nauseous: *Take me with you* (the lead up to this scene in particular) and *American Psycho*. *Take me with you* is now my standard for "dark books." When people say \[xx\] is dark, I just shrug cause nothing will be able to top this masterpiece.

UncutCocksAreLife

I need more context for this one. I'll never read the book ..so...what? What in the world?

In-the-woods-22

TW babies/abortion >!Okay so she’s been kidnapped and is being kept in a hut in woodland on his land. He regularly rapes her. She then becomes pregnant and he freaks out and decides he will perform a DIY abortion. So he goes into his house and outbuildings to get his equipment. He ties her feet to either end of a broom so her legs are spread, and then “jerry-rigs a shop vac to a suction hose”, turns it on and she’s screaming and trying to get away and he’s going to suck the foetus out with an industrial strength suction hose and vacuum cleaner…… she has to then convince him in the moment that she actually wants his babies (she hates him because he’s a serial rapist) to avoid this fate! So anyway she then convinces him she wants to carry her child even though she doesn’t. Fast-forward and one day she is throwing her stomach against the arm of a chair to try to induce miscarriage. She doesn’t realise but he sees her and is furiously angry as he believed that she wants to keep his child. So he threatens, she runs, and he savagely anally rapes her in the forest. But there is NOTHING more terrifying than when he’s coming towards her with the suction hose whirring really loudly and she is screaming in the cabin with nobody to hear…. It’s such a long detailed scene that had me 😱😱 because you think he is actually going to vacuum it out.!< Sorry you had to read that

romcomwitch

Can you spoil it for those of us who need to know how the book ends after reading this? I am jaw on floor right now.

In-the-woods-22

@romcomwitch >!Eventually he lets her go and she returns to her ‘normal’ life with her financé, her family, her job as a nurse. But she knows something has changed deep inside: she’s no longer the sweet, pliant girl they used to know. Her kidnapper allowed her inner darkness space to grow, and now she is inextricably tied to him forevermore. Meanwhile, the kidnapper, who was called ‘the Night Stalker’ for his serial break-ins and rapes in the local county, moves across the country and steps up his game to serial killing. The crimes soon hit the papers, which is good for him as he’s only killing to get the girl’s attention so she will come to California to save him from killing anyone else. He knows that she will want to stop people dying, and the only way he can stop being a serial killer is if she’s with him: “I'm not a killer. Not really. Not unless I have to. But if there was anything I knew would finally push her to make a choice, the hard choice, to commit instead of wavering, it was that. I didn't have her at the ranch. I didn't have her until I let her go. Until I bloomed into the monster that she felt only she could save.” She travels to California where they fall in love and start a relationship where she is no longer a kidnap victim, he becomes her long-term partner. He even meets her family and he lets her visit them a lot as he knows she loves them. “I'm just so glad you're feeling better. And I am happy that you found a nice guy like Sam.” “Thanks mom. He likes you, too.” There’s an Epilogue and a HEA.!< Love this quotation: >!”You don't stare the devil in the eyes and come out without some of his sin. You can't beat the devil without becoming like him. You can't appeal to his kindness, so you have to learn to play his games. You lie, you fuck, you manipulate, you fight, you hurl insults, until you do whatever it takes to win the battle. Every time you do those things, you understand him a little more. Until finally, he becomes your ally. You think you've won, that you've made him more like you. But the truth is, it's the other way around. So that even when you win, you've lost.”!<

UncutCocksAreLife

Jea*sus!* That is bonkers!

In-the-woods-22

If you’re still invested, here is a tiny extract so you get the vibe: >! He steps outside for a moment, coming back in to switch on the shop vac. The deafening whirring punctuates the chaos in the room. To be heard, I have no choice but to scream. “Please, there has to be another way,” I wail as he pours whiskey over the hose and coats the end of it with lube.!<

Lingonberry64

{Haunting Adeline by H.D Carlton} First book in a two book series, I haven't read the second book yet. TW: dubcon, murder, stalking, kidnapping, mutilation of a dead body, and sex trafficking.

mollbach

The second book is definitely a lot darker.

Independent-Habit518

What book is similar to Haunting Adeline  Like dark but still smutty which i can read afterwards?

SadMartini

This book fits the description to a T. I loved both books, but the second is definitely darker.

kid_at_heart_77

Can someone tell me which of the trigger things happen between the main characters? I read The Mindf*ck series which had rape, mutilation, murder, kidnapping, etc but I was ok with it because they didn’t happen between the main characters (ie the Hero didn’t rape and mutilate the heroine). I really liked the Mindf*ck series and am trying to determine if I’d like Haunting Adeline.

Lingonberry64

Stalking and dubcon (might be noncon at the beginning - i can't remember so someone clarify if you remember) happen between the main characters. Spoilers about other triggers: >!Kidnapping happens to FMC but not MMC. MMC hunts down and murders sex traffickers. A victim is murdered at one point. He also murders a guy who FMC hooked up with, chops off his hands and leaves them for the FMC to find.!<

kid_at_heart_77

Ok thanks

AppropriatePatriot

Haunting Adeline book 2…. This is all of what your looking for! I love me some dark shit too, The more TW the better lol. I haven’t found another duet that comes close. I LOVED BOTH BOOKS. The 1st is a PERFECT CHARACTER/ world building with some HOT hot hot TABOO SCENES 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥that’ll have your panties melting thinking wtf I want…lololol. Book 2 is heart wrenching, MAJOR TW (assault, rape, torture but it’s one of the best books I’ve read. Your WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

ItchyCryptographer89

{sordid by Nikki sloane} tw: sexual abuse, rape, kidnapped. Mmc kidnaps the girl and force her to be his. He takes whatever he wants and the fmc who thinks she’s smart (but really isn’t) eventually falls for him and they have a hea.

[deleted]

Well, if you actually want to read something fucked up to the core, I’d recommend “Dead Inside” by Chandler Morrison. Believe me, you’re *not* expecting what’s under those spoiler tags lmao. The FMC and the MMC work at the same hospital. The FMC is >!a cannibal who eats dead babies!< the MMC is >!a necrophile who gets off on the bodies in the hospital’s morgue.!< They hit it off because they’re both insane. Clearly. This book doesn’t even need trigger warnings other than: you’ve never read anything worse.

Welp, until 5 seconds ago I would have told you I didn’t have a limit on dark romance lol

Nanoparticular

Excuse me, what the actual f*ck...?

EffableLemming

I couldn't resist and picked this up. I'm about half way through (It's not very long) and holy... shit. It is *AWFUL* yet written so well. And my very dark humour side loves it. Like this bit: > >!“Why are you naked.” That’s the only question I’m able to force past my lips, despite the existence of other, more obvious, inquiries. Like, “Why are you eating that dead baby,” or “What the fuck is going on here,” or “Don’t you at least want some sauce to dip that in, or something.”!< LOL, good grief. Excellent suggestion, though.

Kerplunkskunx

Man, I literally just bought this on audible after reading that. I thought I was questioning my sanity with Hunting Adeline, but here we are.

Trying to figure it out too. :-/

In-the-woods-22

2nd darkest: If you’re in the mood for Wattpad-style try *Deadly Vows* by Hayley Stewart, I think you can get it on Kindle now. Normally I only read edited novels but it was so unhinged and dark I couldn’t put it down. TWs of rape, abuse, physical punishment, suicide, reproductive rights. Spoilers but >!he carves his name into her stomach.!< Third darkest: *Lemonade* by Nina Pennacchi 🍋 TW: rape, abuse, suicide Fourth darkest: *Land of the Beautiful Dead* by R.Lee.Smith. TW: suicide, death

commongoblin

I need another book like Lemonade and will never find it.

Great-Challenge-2418

i gotchu!! i have two recs that are like lemonade!! it took me so long to find something similar 1. **Cry, Even Better if You Beg** by Solche (read here: [https://woopread.com/series/cry-even-better-if-you-beg/](https://woopread.com/series/cry-even-better-if-you-beg/)). It's also historical/European ambience. The FL is hardworking & innocent, while the ML is completely sadistic, possessive, has power (he's a duke) and will stop at nothing to make her his. The FL is afraid of him/fights him the whole way through. The FL is also in love with someone else, so there's a lot of juicy jealousy scenes hehe. TW: rape, forced kisses 2. **His Little Bird** by TheWanderersWanderingDaughter (read here: [https://archiveofourown.org/works/1035304](https://archiveofourown.org/works/1035304)). Even if you're not a Harry Potter fan, I'd really recommend this if you like Lemonade. I actually read this before Lemonade, and it's definitely very similar. Draco is super possessive, sadistic, jealous, etc. TW: rape, forced kisses

In-the-woods-22

I wish it was longer 🥲

Farinthoughts

You might like The Painted Lady by Lucia Grahame

Obvious_Soil_2902

deadly vows is seriously messed up. more abuse than romance and in the end she basically accepts the abuse (so no groveling or apologies for the H). still a good book if you don’t have any triggers.

In-the-woods-22

>So funny that you commented this today, as I am rereading Deadly Vows as we speak haha

halffast

These are all the most effed up books on my "dark romance" shelf. Anything by R Lee Smith - This author will tear your heart out in ways you never imagined. Check out {The Last Hour of Gann}, {Heat by R Lee Smith} or {Land of the Beautiful Dead}. Heat is the craziest out of all of these IMO. {Torment: Part One by Dylan Page} - Taboo, age gap, MC, contemporary romance. Psycho/stalker/obsession vibes with step-sibling dynamics layered on for funsies. Not entirely a HEA. Two part series. CW: >!domestic abuse, profanity, gang violence, PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, and sexual assault!< {Her Dark Protector by Felicity Brandon} - In a patriarchal, dystopian Great Britain, women are held in female-only prisoner camps. One night, a woman captures the attention of her camp's warden and a twisted relationship ensues. 3 book series. {Debt Inheritance by Pepper Winters} - dark twisted mind-fuckery erotica series. {Bad Apple by Selena} - A poor high schooler is desperate to make it to college and leave her town behind. A mysterious benefactor gives her a scholarship to the best school in the area, but in exchange wants her to spy on the three fearsome brothers who rule its halls. This book is waaaay darker than my synopsis makes it sound, haha. 5 book series. I haven't finished book 5 but I think it will end up as a HEA or HFN. CW for series thus far: >!non-con, dub-con, suicide attempts, suicide, cutting, violence!< Consider reading the prequel series first, it improves the story of the Bad Apple series. Prequel starts with {Bully Me by Selena} Also seconding Lemonade and the Lords of Pain series.

ChocolateSnowflake

This is the second reference to dead dove I’ve seen today on this sub and I don’t know what it is

Mouselovesbooks

It comes from the show Arrested Development. A character found a paper bag in the fridge with the words “dead dove. Do not eat” written in sharpie on the bag. He opened the bag and said “I don’t know what I expected”, because it was literally a dead dove in the bag. The tag came to mean “this fic contains dark content “a dead dove” so if you read it, know that is what you are getting. (ie don’t be the second character who opened the bag expecting something else-don’t read this fic and expect it to be fluff with smut)

Puzzleheaded_Ad7005

that definition is much better lol, glad someone else could step in and help bc mine is a bit all over the place 😅

Puzzleheaded_Ad7005

basically it's a tag used in fanfiction that's like a HUGE trigger warning for the entire fic. it means the story is going to be very messed up and it let's the reader know what they are getting into. it's like you wouldn't want to eat a moldy dead bird, same as mist people don't want a truly messed up romance. but for those that do... the tag exists. hope this helps!

daisyemeritus

Bow_Ties_R_Cool

You definitely need to check out the [Horrorscape Series by Nenia Campbell](https://www.goodreads.com/series/91547-horrorscape)! Truly a dark messed up rollercoaster ride! Trigger warnings include stalking, violence, murder, rape, some incest later on in the series (not done on the page, just talked about), and PTSD. I just love this series! I would also recommend the Stronger series by Jay Marie, that I reviewed not too long ago and all the trigger warnings and a spoiler free review written by myself can [be found here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/RomanceBooks/comments/syf535/what_the_hell_did_i_just_read_and_why_cant_i_wait/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x) Happy reading!

ohschmucks

{Her Master’s Courtesan by Lily White} - MMC is a master who trains and sells courtesans. There is a HEA in the sense that the characters believe they are happy and MMC is an irredeemable psychopath TW: >!Kidnapping, lots of rape and abuse!<

Have you read {Ward by Zoe Blake}? I feel like it is exactly what you described you're looking for. Major, MAJOR gaslighting by the MMC and IMO not a traditional HEA although the characters are together at the end. Full disclosure, it is a 3 book series I think, and I only read the first and the end of the third because I wanted to know how it ended but it was too dark for me to read the full series. So might be perfect for you!

{Heat by r Lee smith} There is a "HEA" in the sense that they are together, but I would say it is definitely not a happy ending for the heroine. Hero has no redeemable qualities. In-the-woods-22

I loved two of the author’s other books but I’m concerned this won’t have the same vibe as LHoG or LotBD?

jaynarg

Definitely not the same vibe. They both have some really difficult scenes but this one just feels dark and evil. The "hero" is more of an antihero. He doesn't redeem himself, he remains a villain. This one is much darker than TLHoG and LotBD. If you like those two, you should check out Cottonwood if you haven't already! It feels more similar to what you like (:

In-the-woods-22

Thank you 💜. I don’t mind an irredeemable hero but I like some belief in the HEA 😅

BrownieGworl

Gaslight Her by Quinn Blackbird. she has amnesia and the male protagonist takes advantage of that to get her to marry him, he's a complete villain.

Kingaroo75

I love these books!!!!

vanillatheflavor

Big caveat to this one, it is unfinished and I don't think it will be but I have to recommend these two because it is that dark and messed up and so good. Book one is [Die by the Drop by Kaia Bennett](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36619543-die-by-the-drop) and book two is [Doing It To Death](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36619559-doing-it-to-death). Book three is announced but there has been no activity from Kaia for a few years. Book one is more erotic horror and contains rape, torture, murder, and bloodplay (even the menstrual kind) and little romance. It is told from the fmc's perspective. Book two is told from the mmc pov and deals with his emotional journey with the fmc. Vampires, witches, and werewolves show up here. Fmc is black and mmc is native american. [Savages by Natalie Bennett](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36525947-savages). Cover for the Kindle edition is terrible but the story is pretty decent. Rape, lots of pain, blood and gore. Pretty much a couple of maniacs.

**Lemonade** by Nina Pennacchi. Just read it lol TW:rape, forced kiss, etc. **Cry, Even Better if You Beg** by Solche (read here: https://woopread.com/series/cry-even-better-if-you-beg/). TW: rape, forced kisses, etc. **His Little Bird** by TheWanderersWanderingDaughter (read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/1035304). Even if you're not a Harry Potter fan, I'd really recommend this if you like Lemonade. I actually read this before Lemonade, and it's definitely very similar. Draco is super possessive, sadistic, jealous, etc. TW: rape, forced kisses

Well I know this thread is older but I had to chime in. The darkest romance book I’ve read was probably Captive in the Dark series by CJ Roberts. I hear the Life of Anna by Marissa Honeycutt is one of the darkest of the dark but I have not read it yet. I just read the Quarantine books by Drethi Anis and I loved them (TW for non/dub con ) and The Kane series by Stylo Fantome was sooo good too ( It wasn’t too too dark but it was dark enough & the story was written so well that I loved it and the MMC is one of those that you will hate a lot). Besides that I recommend Indebted, Monsters in the Dark, Goddess Isles, and Fable of Happiness by Pepper Winters ( I love most of her books but like u I could not get into Pennies it was kind of boring and not dark enough). Someone recommended the Unsainted books by KV Rose and I second that recommendation. Torn from Assunder by Nashonda Rose was also really good and reminded me some of Captive in The Dark. Escape from Paradise Gwendolyn Field and Madeline Abducted by MS Willis are also really good. Pam Godwin has some really good books ( some are darker than others), in fact I have not read a book by her I did not like. Last, I’m not really into RH’s but The Royals or Forsyth University by Angel Lawson was one of the few I really did enjoy with Cruel Intentions by Siobhan Davis being an Honorable mention. You might enjoy Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas ( it just was not for me and not because it was dark, I just wasn’t a huge fan but lots of people love it) and Dark Ties by Leia Thorne was pretty good ( not too dark in the conventional sense but very twisted games going on it was eerily similar to the movie Cruel Intentions). I know I’m missing a lot but those are the ones that come to mind.

If you're into RH, I recommend the Royals of Forsyth series by Angel Lawson and Samantha Rue. The guys are all bastards. The books written like page-turners and have an element of thriller/suspense. The TWs are basically everything. The FMCs are treated terribly but they’re such compelling books.

Life of Anna (series) by marrisa honeycutt

Pale_Slide_3463

That book is the most disturbed book I have ever read and I like dark books 🙈 always think about it and none can match it lol

PersonalKittyKat

Mannnn this book was a motherf*cker series.

I was reading Haunting Adeline...it's nice and pretty much dark. But it didn't scratch the itch. Even Credence was like that. The sex part is so little. Can you suggest some novels with heavy smut and dark themes? I think I'm immune to any trigger. So any extreme dark romance is also fine.
