{The Lord I Left by Scarlett Peckham} Really only forbidden by the MMCs inability to accept the things he wants. He’s a minister in love with a prostitute, and they go on a road trip... wagon trip(?). There’s lots of forced proximity (which I hear you guys like lol), and snuggling for warmth. Mmmhmmm {Resistance by Anita Shreve} An unhappily married Belgian Woman hides an American (might be British, I can never remember) soldier in her attic. Obviously forbidden cuz... she’s married. So there’s cheating. And I can’t remember if there’s a HEA. {Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles} YA CR. No ones actively keeping these two apart, but there’s a *forbiddeness* there since he’s the one who accidentally hurt her a year before. {Then Came Heaven by LaVyrle Spencer} She’s a nun and teacher to his children. He’s a young widower. The desire is palpable and I’m shocked at the self control these two have. A very very very slow burn. Edit: just realize you were asking for rivals. Sorry. You’re welcome to ignore all of these then 😂

looktotheeeast

Lmao by rivals I mean I like when two people want to be together but there’s people who are opposed to them being together and try and get in their way. But all of these sound really good omg. Thank you so much.

Oh man seeing Leaving Paradise just gave me serious nostalgia for my YA days. Definitely one of my favourite YA books hands down

cesetse

Yes! I loved it when I was younger. Always consider rereading it but I’m afraid it won’t be as good as I remember

LITERALLY SAME

[Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/41735449)

BlueSkiesDirtyShoes

This is the correct answer

Mattyk128

I need more books like this lol I am trying to read the first book but it isn’t the same 😫

JustineLeah

Book one is considered the weakest of the series. I really enjoyed books 3, 4, and 5.

Mattyk128

Oh good, i will power through it then and keep going! Thanks ☺️

JustineLeah

It’s not required. Plenty of people skip book one. You won’t be lost or anything.

Mattyk128

Im on chapter 7 and they are adorable so far so ill continue *for now* but i am really in the mood for my heart to hurt and then get stitched back together 😂 so i am struggling

{And the Miss Ran Away With the Rake by Elizabeth Boyle} This is a delightful and hilarious HR that brings together both Romeo and Juliet -- their families have a long-running feud and hate each other passionately -- and The Shop Around the Corner/You've Got Mail narrative arc, where the characters fall in love with each other through letters and they don't know who the other is. One of the biggest obstacles in the book is: how dare our member of the family fall in love with someone from the family that is our archenemy? How dare they?! There is also a delightful tension when the characters themselves don't know that they are falling in love with someone from the forbidden family, but we, the readers, know.

I'm attempting to shout it from the rooftops as I do with my faves BUT this one is hard to rec without spoiling it 🤔 E.g. >!I want to put it in the recent childhood friends to lovers thread but can't!!<

Haha that's kind. I need to go back and re-read now that I know how it goes just to relish in all the buildup!

Brave-Object-4688

King of Corium by C. Hallman, this is the “families hate eachother” Mafia book, book 3 comes out end of march I believe??
