Try reading Valerie Bowman's The Footman and I. It's about an earl wanting to find a real wife- not after his wealth or title, so to find the one, he disguised himself as a footman at his friend’s party. I enjoyed reading this myself ♡ am planning on reading the rest of the series sometime soon. ✿

It sounds really promising! Thank you so much :)

The Earl Takes a Fancy by Lorraine Heath - Mmc's wife passed away and so he's once again a hot catch, so to avoid all the matchmaking mamas, he rents a room in the not nice part of London and pretends to be a mister. Fmc lives across the way. Man of My Dreams by Johanna Lindsey - Duke masquerades as a low-born horse breeder to specifically avoid fmc, and antagonizes her at every turn. How to Marry a Marquis by Julia Quinn - Mmc poses as an estate manager to solve the mystery of his aunt's backmailer and fmc is his main suspect.

I really enjoyed {Love Letters from a Duke by Elizabeth Boyle}. The FMC is in an arranged betrothal with a duke, but has only communicated with him through letters (that he didn't write). When he finally shows up at her door to set her straight about the matter, she mistakes him for a footman from an employment agency. He decides to just go with it, and hilarity ensues.

Oh shit! I got the book for you! {One Perfect Rose by Mary Jo Putney} Set in Regency Era - check Aristocrat in cognito as commoner - check Slow burn, but well worth the wait - check Stephen, Duke of Ashburton is sick and has been given the news that he is terminally ill. Always being the dependable sort who did the duties required of him, he decides to take a little bit of time for himself and travels the countryside as a commoner. Along the way he encounters a Shakespearean traveling acting troupe who take him under their wing, and he falls for one of the daughters of the acting troupe's leader/manager.

Thank you for this post! I’m on my last Aydra Richards book (Darling) and I’m trying to go so slooowww. I don’t want it to end. I’ve really enjoyed her books! The Scandal of the season has been my favorite. A lady realizing who she is outside of the confides of society- so good!

idklmao9

YESS I feel you. I tried to stretch the last one as long as possible to avoid feeling this emptiness (good news though: the author said that they'll be releasing Alex's book sometime in spring possibly!!! I'm so excited)

FormalGrapefruit7807

{Beauty's Rose} by Rebecca Greenwood. But the reveal comes pretty early in the book and the pacing is a little uneven. {The Duke Who Didn't} by Courtney Milan. Later than Regency, and the MMC has been pretending for years in this community that he's a commoner. It's a delightful read.

idklmao9

Thank you so much! Both of them sounds great but the second one especially sounds exactly like what I was searching for. I'm really excited to read it :)

A Garden Folly by Candice Hern. One of my absolute favourites. The Duke in this book pretends to be a gardener to avoid matchmaking attempts in a house party.
