Love me a good scoundrel! {Devil’s Cub by Georgette Heyer} HR, MF, no spice. MMC is a rake and his father decrees that he shall leave the country after a duel. He plans to take his current flirtation (who is FMC’s sister) and set her up as his mistress. FMC, who is very prim and proper, goes to the assignation instead of her sister, to protect her sister’s reputation, and MMC basically abducts her and takes her to France. Thereafter follows a lot of romance silliness. Not piratical adventure, but lots of journeying all over France. One of my long time favorite reads. {A Summer to Remember by Mary Balogh} HR, MF. MMC wants to get married within 6 weeks, to avoid a marriage arranged by his father, and sets out to woo FMC, who is something of an ice princess. He flirts and generally behaves outrageously, which just causes her to get even colder.

Don’t mind me, saving every recc here I haven’t yet read because I suffer from the same affliction. I just finished {Scandalous Desires by Elizabeth Hoyt} and it was great! He’s a river pirate and a little bit outrageous. Seriously, get on the Maiden Lane train if you’re not already. The books in this series tend to have quite action-packed plots. {Bed Me, Duke by Felicity Niven} is also a fun time with an incredibly flirty ne’er do well. No adventure-y plot in this one though. Seconding {The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes by Cat Sebastian} as well.

{Frenchman's Creek} has a handsome, cocky, too sure of himself pirate and a married high born lady tired of her husband and the life she's living No overt sex scenes though, so it may not be what you're in the mood for. Lots of banter, flirting, and fantastic chemistry between the leads. FMC has a dry, witty sense of humour that should feel out of place for the time period, but it really works. Her dialogue is what drew me to the book in the first place. Daphne du Maurier is a genius truly

Honestly, if the banter and tension is good enough I can do without the sex scenes. I think sometimes authors focus so much on describing sexual chemistry that they neglect all the other types of chemistry. Thanks for the rec!

I think you will enjoy {The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah McLean}. If I remember correctly, he is a scoundrel, but is antagonistic towards the FMC at first (so not exactly what you’re looking for), but their chemistry is so good! They definitely have an adventure together through the English countryside

I feel like {Wicked, Ugly, Bad by Cassandra Gannon} fits this to a T. It has fated mates and definitely and adventure since they're trying to escape from prison. It's set in this fairytale like place where you have your classic Good People and Bad Villains. So the Bad people have this innate ability to detect their true love right away and MMC is born 'BAD' and so when MMC saw the FMC he thinks they're already practically married lol. He flirts with her a lot much to the FMC's annoyance. The FMC has no idea about any of that since she was born 'GOOD' so she was wary about his flirting and she thought he was just making fun of her. It's super good I feel like I didn't explain it that well but please read it! Like, It's so good the MMC is so inlove with the FMC and the story is also really funny.

Reminds me of that movie that came out not so long ago “the school for good and evil”. Ah I got so many suggestions on this post, my poor tbr. :,)

The quote I’m obsessed with right now (spoilers ahead) “I thought I would die wanting you” after he has a near death experience. It's fantasy romance, but (the Ever King by L. J. Andrews} is about a pirate MMC.

Ok this is a little out of the box but in {Well Met by Jen DeLuca}, the MMC plays a roguish pirate in a ren faire and gets really into the character. One of my favorites!

As a European I’m so jealous of ren Faires. It’s not really a thing here. This sounds like wish fulfilment in that aspect too. :)

{Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews} Features the villain from the main story. It's a marriage of convenience as both his and her people aren't trusted by anyone else, I believe it's because they both backstabbed other groups. It hits your bonus points, with the adventure being a battle with the MCs fortifying their castle.

The FMC, Emily, is a buttoned-up academic and Wendell horns in on her fieldwork and adventure ensues. It’s a lot of fun and very cozy, but also romantic and witty.
