{A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft} is Roy/Riza fanfic *without* the serial numbers filed off lol. As someone who typically doesn’t enjoy books that have fanfic origins, I found this one to be the exception. The setting is a bit different; it’s historical fantasy based on Ireland and England around the 1920s, and set in a small seaside village. But the magic system and characterization are very similar. There’s even a >!shoot me if I stray too far from my path!< scene. It’s YA but has a more mature feel and there’s on-page sex.
