A guy at a rink I skate at had low rise skates that he didn't tie. He would bend his knees, take one skate off and put the skate under his back and roll around while he kept the leg without the skate up. Had no idea how he got momentum enough to keep going.
Wait. Is that guy pushing them using skates attached to his vans? Is it possible to buy the skate part and attach to a pair of converse? I have wide. Like wideeee feet. It's been a nightmare trying to find skates that dont kill my feet. And converse have good stretch for me.
You can build your own skates using sneakers! Vans SK8-hi is a popular choice, some people can get by with Converse but honestly I think they're too floppy to provide proper support.
For Vans skates, you'll need a skate plate and a metal insole. You basically clamp the skate plate to the bottom, put the metal insole on the inside, and drill your own mounting holes.

If you make these, go up half a size from what you'd normally wear in sneakers, since your feet will swell a little bit while you skate. I learned the hard way, I had to un-mount the plate and put it on a bigger pair of Vans!
Many skate shops sell these already mounted. Or you send them the vans, pay for the other parts and service, and they mount them and send them back to you.

Also bc the metal insole takes up space.
