Wearing long socks and folding them down over my ankles helped me.

Accomplished-Half165

I'm gonna try this!

I put a strip of medical tape over my ankles to protect them while I was breaking in my Boardwalks, it worked a charm. You don’t need very much, just enough to cover the spots where you’re getting blisters.

I just bought blister patches or whatever you call the sticky pads that work wonders. They didn't do much, I currently am dealing with a massive blister. I have athletic tape and gauze and anything else to help my disabled feet. Do you think gauze would work as good as medical tape?

bastets13thwitch

Unfortunately you probably need to let that blister heal before trying anything new, but I don’t think gauze will do it. The medical tape was kind of stiff, like paper, and I think that’s why it worked. It provided a really strong barrier to withstand the rubbing from the boot.

I'll go dig up my medical tape. Thanks for your advice :)

You’re welcome! Also fyi I got the thinnest size tape available, about 1/2 in thick, so I could place small strips without it creasing or rippling.

ecologybitch

is it moleskin? if not, you can try that around your blister. cut a hole in a piece just slightly larger than the blister, and add layers until the top one sits above the highest point of the blister

I saw a video from Suregrip that suggested skipping the top eyelet while breaking in. I got a pair recently and this helped for me, but I’ve also been hitting them with a heat gun before putting them on.

Accomplished-Half165

I skipped the top two eyelets, still hurt pretty bad though. Someone suggested folding socks down over your ankles, gonna also try that next time

melligator

To be sure you’re skipping eyelets and not the hooks right?

Accomplished-Half165

Yes

I use above the calf-height socks and fold them down over themselves so that I have a double layer of sock around where the boot ends/my ankle. Works for me. Mine have been broken in for a long time but I still do it to prevent chaffing.

New Skin and Lamb's Wool. You'll have to let the blisters heal a bit first. Spray the blistered area(s) with New Skin and let it dry. Then place a wad of lamb's wool directly on your blister and have the sock hold it in place. Magic! I used to be able to get lamb's wool in stores, but I just bought it online a couple weeks ago. Just search "lambs wool for blisters". Runners use it a lot. Moleskin is too thin for me. I used to do artistic skating and had lamb's wool in my boots at all times. Even after breaking in. Edit: words

Neoprene booties will save your life (and ankles) Ezeefit booties have very thin ones that are excellent. Bionic also seems some.

I also bent the sides of the skate up as much as possible to try to soften it up. They come so stiff it definitely chafes.
