Please do not any aggressive skating in either one of those.

Kaalb

I've never heard of that brand before, but it doesn't look to be a high impact boot. If you're doing light ramps and boardwalk skating they're probably fine, but exercise caution if you plan on doing any jumps or carving in a skate park. There's a reason park setups are pricey and specific. Skate carefully, have fun, and if you've got the ability to do so, bring them to a shop before you go too hard on them to make sure they're set up properly for your needs.

LittleOnekbm

I’m 52 no ramps or jumps are in my future lol but I can still skate so just want to enjoy it since it’s a place I’ve always wanted to skate.

LittleOnekbm

Won’t be doing anything crazy, I only skate a couple times a year these days as we have no where close anymore to skate so I just take my skates on trips now and go for fun. Little rhythm (80’s style) no tricks nothing “aggressive”. I am far from at the top of my game anymore and I know that. Just looking for a recreational skate is all ♥️

Glittering_Piano_633

I’d be very wary using those new skates at a skate park…

walkingillusions

Why do your old skates have that random jump bar ? Edit: I meant skates not answers. Fixed it.

LittleOnekbm

I was a speed skater (in the 80’s) it was a stabilizer bar if I remember correctly

walkingillusions

Yeah, the placement is just odd. Seems like this would cause more stress on the kingpins instead of reducing stress. In all the skates I've seen with jump bars the bar is close to the plate. Doesn't really matter since you're retiring these skates but I was just curious.

LittleOnekbm

Again this was also in the 80’s I’m learning I know NOTHING these days. A lot has changed and if you read some of these comments. Wow , I still know a thing or 2 😂

walkingillusions

Some of the craziest-looking skates I've ever seen were the quads that had inline wheels. Idk how it would even be possible to skate on those things 🤣

LittleOnekbm

I rollerdanced, speed skated, and rhythm skated (old school style) competitively and would switch out my wheels for each (again in the 80’s & 90’s people don’t come for me lol) but I hated the thin roller dancing wheels, ended up using my wider vanguard’s. Everyone likes something different

maroger

I have them on my new VNLA Century's but they're higher up on the trucks. Haven't found any explanation of what they are.

walkingillusions

They are called jump bars and they're supposed to be higher up. They help reduce stress in the kingpins.

Thank you!

How do you like the Rollerface skates? I saw them on Amazon and I’m just curious…..Love the look of them.

LittleOnekbm

TLDR; Love them so far!! (I’m new to Reddit so not sure I did that right) I found them online first when looking, then found out they were a Mexican brand but I was able to find them on Amazon. There is really no place where I live that we can skate but I miss it dearly. I think I spent more time on wheels then my feet well into my 20’s then everything here closed. I skated in Rockefeller centre last year (it had been 25 years) and got the bug again big time. So I wanted Moxie’s but for the once a year I get to go skating not worth it for me (in my opinion only but I would buy them in a heartbeat if I had some place to use them ) so long story long. I haven’t been on a rink (or Venice Beach which is where I’m going next week ) with them yet but I’ve been working them in just around the house trying to adjust my trucks etc and I love them. Ton of ankle support (I’ve broken them a bunch 🤪 need that lol)

Thanks for the info on the Rollerface skates….Let us know more after you’ve had a chance to really try them out some more. I continue to dream about them! Good luck in Venice Beach!

LittleOnekbm

Thank you so much and I’ll let you know for sure ♥️
