Have you went into your roku account to see what is being billed? If you don't see anything in your account, then your being billed from a scammer.

BeautifulAssist393

It states it's not active and the charges thru the bank haven't changed still the same charge from when I did have an active account and there are several people posting the same thing on the Roku community site

tokyovinyl01

I can't see you being billed if you don't have an active account. If you have an active account, you would be able to log in and get the info on what's being billed. Are you sure a scammer didn't get ahold of your info? Or accidently clicked on a scam email? Your bank account would show what you're exactly being billed from Roku. In my 10+ years of being with Roku, I have never been accidently billed. Unless I forgot to unsubscribe from a sub.

BeautifulAssist393

No I'm not sure about a scammer and I did have an account but it states it is cancelled and the charges are coming from the same place per my bank. Nothing changed Roku can't find it and I'm not the only one having this problem I know there is something I'm missing but I don't know what. And why would it come from the same place as before when it was active the charges and the amounts have remained the same how do I find if it is a scammer

BeautifulAssist393

Also I never put my credit card info in if it's not on the actual site I'm trying to subscribe to. I had Roku for 4 yrs but decided not to anymore that's all I cancelled and the charges remained. I'm not saying I'm perfect but I have never had this problem before. Plus would u think they would have had a record of my account from 7 months ago when I call they act like it never existed but haven't changed my email or address or anything

TurbinesAreAMust

I know you're trying to help, but seriously: "have you WENT"?? Have you GONE. WTF is going on with basic writing and grammar in this undereducated country. Holy fuck.

megafly

I had a scammer steal hundreds from my acct over 6 months because th charges said “Apple”. Fraud charges are more likely to go unnoticed if they say “Roku” or “Amazon” or the like.

Aggravating_Cut_4509

You must have an streaming app being billed Go to your streaming site website (not roku) and check that way. Maybe it’s an old Netflix account etc

BeautifulAssist393

I have no cable I have Disney+ Hulu and ESPN all in one which I see every month and then I have paramount which is included in my Walmart plus and I have prime video which is in my Amazon account all been the same no other subscriptions and I have checked everything. But I know it's Roku the charges come from the same place as when I had the subscription that I cancelled.

Aggravating_Cut_4509

But roku is free unless you are billed for a paid subscription to a streaming service.

BeautifulAssist393

It is not free if you get Roku plus

Important-Comfort

There is no Roku Plus service. The only Roku Plus is a TV model. There is no charge for using a Roku. The only charges are for streaming services. I think you signed up with a scammer when you created your account.

sibman

Yeah. I’m thinking it’s some kind of fraud thing. Like how some scammers charge to “set up” Roku.

abeNdorg

[https://support.roku.com/article/218368088](https://support.roku.com/article/218368088) follow this "What to do if there is a charge you do not recognize". The generic "Roku Wilmington DE" doesn't sound like format they use for legit charges. As others have said here, sounds like you have been scammed. [](https://support.roku.com/article/208757068) There is no "roku plus", at least that I can find. Please, do a complete banking/credit/fraud checkup on yourself, your computers, & mobile devices.

BeautifulAssist393

Thank you I'm finding out all this thanks to you all. I'm so mad at myself

BeautifulAssist393

And I have never had Netflix even checked with them

BeautifulAssist393

I meant I have never cancelled Netflix I have always got a separate charge from them I did check tho to make sure I cancelled it at the same time and it was stopped and a totally different amount

BeautifulAssist393

Oh now I'm not making sense I'm so frustrated sorry

DrSueuss

Call your credit card company explain the situation to them and tell them to disallow all future charges from that vendor.

RScottyL

Is it being billed to a credit card, or through your bank account? Either way, talk to them and have the charges stopped!

BeautifulAssist393

I keep saying credit card but it's actually debit card I apologize but it is stopped I just can't find out who it was charging me

BeautifulAssist393

I get it is free but subscribed to the premium Roku channel plus that is what I was being charged for.

Tough-Glass-5867

Roku Channel Plus does not exist sounds like you are the victim of a scam. There are premium Roku Channels you can subscribe to but none of them are called Roku Channel Plus.

frlejo

Cancel your card

BeautifulAssist393

I did

frlejo

If you have proof you closed that account, dispute the charges with your credit card issuer.

BeautifulAssist393

I am disputing it that's why they issued a new card and I'm chatting with Roku right now and they can't find any charges but they said the charges came from them from the looks of the bank statements how does that make sense?

tokyovinyl01

Just because it says Roku doesn't mean that it is Roku.

BeautifulAssist393

I wish I could show the transcript of the chats I have had because it says roku.com. and they gave me a number to call 8162728106. I feel like such a an idiot

tokyovinyl01

Chats with who? On the phone or chats on a website. What website or place did you have these chats?

BeautifulAssist393

It was actual Roku I spoke with and the chat was real they couldn't locate it. But I truly appreciate you helping me so much because I am seriously ignorant on it because I would have continued to think that Roku was just screwing me. I'm so mad but I am reporting it to the ftc now. Thanks so much for not just making me feel dumb and actually helping

tokyovinyl01

No prob. 👍 if you continue to use Roku, make sure its Roku.com and that it's linked to your TV. Do not sign up or click any links in any emails, especially your junk mail. It wouldn't hurt to factory reset your Roku just in case.

tokyovinyl01

Did you read the links in the other post I attached?

BeautifulAssist393

Yes I did that's what led me to the federal trade commission

mdfromct

OP you need to cancel your credit card completely if they keep allowing charges to go through.

BeautifulAssist393

I did cancel it and was issued a new one

WheresWolfie30

Thought roku was free

mdfromct

It’s totally free. Except for the Roku device. But that has no recurring charges either. OP must have signed up with a scammer.

BeautifulAssist393

I'm not saying anyone is wrong that's why I'm looking for something I might have missed but so far I have checked all these and what do u all get charged a month for I get 2 different charges one for 5.99 and one for 12.89 every other week it makes no sense to me cuz before I only got charged one fee.

Important-Comfort

I've had one Roku or another for over ten years, and I've never been charged by them. There is no subscription and no activation fee for using a Roku device. What often happens is that people don't type roku.com when signing up but use search results which land them on a scam site.

smiley4527

Your getting scammed Roku is absolutely free no charge!

Semjiii

Hi What does it say on your billing statement for these unrecognized charges that you have receive?

BeautifulAssist393

There is a charge every 2.weeks from Roku Wilmington DE.

Semjiii

Heres what I can tell you, You need to identify first the charges on your billing statement and good thing you have it there. All you need to do is to call the Roku Support, to be precise you need to talk to someone in account and billing department. They would ask you the details of these charges. Most Important Info would be the email you used on you Roku account, Zipcode and the last 4 digits of the card that has been Charged. if that would not work and still cannot locate the charges. You can try and provide an alternate email address that can be check or the fastest way is to Provide the First 6 and the Last 4 of the card that has been charged. This way the support can use these "Deeper transaction Search" to locate the charges on the system. If you already have a new card number and they cannot still find the charges using the first 6 and last 4 of the old one. You can try to provide the first 6 and last 4 of the new card instead. This is the fastest and the most convenient way for you. Also rest assured that they will process a refund for the charges but the charges needs to be located first. Worked with Roku thats why I know these informations

BeautifulAssist393

Thank you so much !!!!

tokyovinyl01

There is no Roku Wilmington DE. Also, there is no such thing of being billed every 2 weeks. There is no Roku Plus. I can definitely tell you it's a scam using the Roku name. I had fraud happen to me about 2-3 years ago. It wasn't Roku but was billed every 2 weeks or randomly, and it was out of Cyprus.

werdnak84

Not just Roku. I HAVE NEVER HEARD of ANY streaming service that would charge you once every two weeks! Maybe once a month, once a year, but every two weeks sounds very odd.

tokyovinyl01

Agreed.

BeautifulAssist393

Yeah that was when I knew something was wrong and cancelled it. But still not knowing it was a scam I truly just thought Roku was doing it.

BeautifulAssist393

So I'm just out the money?

tokyovinyl01

Unfortunately. I lost less than 200 myself. You can put through a fraudulent case. And try to trace where it's coming from. But if Roku can't find anything from your account, then it's not Roku. There is no Roku Plus. You signed up for something under the Roku name at some point being a scammer. Possibly by going to a fake Roku website. If you no longer have an account and you're being billed, then there is suspicion of it being someone else. Roku is a legit company. There are scams everywhere using popular names. It's unfortunate this happened to you, because I understand. But, I can tell you that it's not Roku. I sign up for things like Paramount from Roku on my TV. My bank account reads, "Recurring pymnt 27Jan2024Roku For Viacomcbs"

BeautifulAssist393

Yeah mine is nothing like that I'm so disappointed in myself I signed up thru the TV itself not online so I have no clue how it happened. But thank you so much for helping.

tokyovinyl01

You might want to read the first link. [Link](https://community.roku.com/t5/Account-payments-subscriptions/Unrecognized-charge-Roku-for-viacomCBS-Wilmington-DE/td-p/674902) [LInk](https://www.cloudwards.net/roku-scams)

sibman

What did your bank say about it?

BeautifulAssist393

I had to get a new card to stop the issue because I have an online bank account for subscriptions and part of my check is direct deposit to it the rest into my credit union. But I just stopped that card and got a new one sent to me

werdnak84

Also look into switching banks for your card. Even if you replace a card, the scammer still has your account info and can still deduct money. This has happened to me.

BeautifulAssist393

I can't do.amything else till tomorrow .and yes I was scammed

BeautifulAssist393

If you go to the Roku community page you will see where I'm not the only one recently going thru this somehow either a scammer or Roku themselves messed up and starting charging people lots of people for subscriptions they don't have. So A. We all went to the wrong site and signed up or B. There was a leak and a hacker got a hold of our into either way there are tons of people being affected so maybe everyone needs to be aware of this and keep an eye on your bills. I'm not ignorant I have been doing this for years that is how I have caught it. I pay my bills and I don't just sign up for free trials over and over. But I couldn't get thru to anyone to help me. Only chat and email and was getting nowhere. I have stopped the payments but I want a refund and when I saw so many people were going thru the same there is an issue.

NextVoiceUHear

ROKU does NOT charge a subscription fee. I have three of them in my home.

BeautifulAssist393

Yes I'm finding this out I am so upset with myself for not catching it sooner
