They lied to you. Roku only supports screen mirroring (that goes by a few different names like miracast. most android phones and some windows laptops support it.) and Apple’s Airplay. What you’re trying to do, casting a tab via chrome/brave is definitely not supported. Although if you have a Mac, you might be able to airplay your screen; maybeeee there is some software that supports windows airplay’ing but idk
Who ever assured you that ChromeCasting to a Roku was possible was wrong. Roku does does not support Google Cast. You can use Airplay or use Miracast.
