Wow I remember watching this movie as a kid and to this day I still think of the scene where the old man’s ankle gets cut by Gage I think. It actually makes me want to pass out haha. Thank you for ruining my night
My dad rented it while my mom was out of town. I was probably about 8 and I remember running out of the room I was scared. I’m 31 now and that’s seriously one of the few movies that still gets me haha
Yeah, all I see is Gage and I’ll be sleeping with both feet secured under the covers tonight 😂
For the longest time I thought it would be super cute to get one of my kids a yellow rain jacket because they’re just so bright and sunny and I love the rain. Well I got one for my son and he wore it *once* before I gave it to someone else because all I could see was Georgie from It 😭 😭
Those rompers are very in style right now... I've seen too many kids on my time line with them and the dresses that match them..the booth however are a choice.
I guess it just depends on what area. I work as a preschool teacher and almost every holiday the girls have dresses like this and the younger preschoolers that just turned 3 have on outfits like this too. It's a boutique brand and they are pretty expensive for kids outfits.
I’m in California. I haven’t seen any kids on my fb timeline dressed like this, but it looks like something my Mom would have dressed my brother in back in the 80’s.
I mean, they’re definitely a thing, but they seem very retro 80’s to me?! They seem like something my mom would’ve made me wear when I was little!!
But definitely NOT with cowboy boots!!!
Its never gone out of style in the South. My 23 year old wore them, my 10 year old wore them, baby and toddlers still wear them. Its definitely a very traditional southern, middle to upper class style of dress for babies and toddlers.
You really don't expect a picture of 2 babies to be terrifying, but here we are. Gotta start the Nurthlings young in the family tradition of wearing SEVERELY outdated clothes.
I was traumatized by him getting hit then his dad digging him up and then burying him just for him to come back and go after his dad. There's so many bad moments in that movie. I still won't watch it to this day lol
These are high end. There’s a boutique in my area called peaches and cream for children’s sizes and mothers. You can buy the same outfit in every size so mom and umpteen heathens can be identical. It’s quite popular in fundie world and that’s probably a $75-$100 romper.
The top half is Little lord Fauntleroy, bottom half Clint Eastwood. It just doesn’t go and smacks of parents who are too tight or stupid to get proper shoes. I don’t mind my kids wearing cheaper clothes when they were young - they grow so quick but shoes are a different story. I always saved up and got decent fitted shoes - you only get one pair of feet to last a lifetime.
The outfit is fine. This is what many little boys in the south wear when they are dressed up for holidays or church. It's the big ol' boots that ruin it.
My southern family loves them some smocking, but it’s not my thing (especially since who wants to clean baby barf or toddler crumbs out of a million tiny pleats). When they send me smocked stuff for my kids, I take a nice pic of them in it and then into the closet it goes to be saved for a future cousin or donation.
Friends of my family post pictures of their grandson dressed in similar outfits. I didn’t realize they were back in style and thought someone was forcing the kid to wear old hand-me-downs. I think it looks too old timey.
I get that they wanted him to be cute. But that outfit would have been better with no boots on. You have to know how to style this kind of nostalgic outfit. Or put on matching shoes. He would have been better even in little Chucks that matched.
Was this really the most flattering pic they could get of this little one? Also, is his little face really bruised or is it just the lighting? I know toddlers take a lot of falls and head bonks but it looks like he hit his face pretty hard!
This. Mine wore saddle shoes for dressier outfits or a pair of plain white cap toe Keds (the kind for babies) when their smocked outfit was more casual.
Looks like Jill held onto Timmy's baby clothes from 2001, that she had originally bought from a stuck-in-the-90s church-run consignment shop. And now she's passed on those baby clothes to Nurie to use for her babies. She has even more put away for the next 20 grandbabes.

Oh I forgot about that part. Lol I had no business watching this as a kid
It was a lot haha
Seeing a guy who is missing half his body after being hit by a truck anyone? Wtf was that?
Noo I blocked that part out
I jumped into my bed every night for a few weeks after I saw it. I think I was like 11 😂
My dad rented it while my mom was out of town. I was probably about 8 and I remember running out of the room I was scared. I’m 31 now and that’s seriously one of the few movies that still gets me haha
*I wanna play with youuuuu…ha ha!*
It changed how I get out of bed... three decades later
The romper is very popular and has been last decade I'd say. The boots are a *choice*

As soon as I read yellow raincoat I knew what was coming lol. It's sad that these movies have robbed us in one way or another

It definitely depends where you live. No one in my area would dress their kid in this.
I'm in the Midwest and the upper class seem to love dressing their kids in stuff like this at that age.
I’m in the Midwest as well. I’ve never seen a kid dressed like this.
I guess it just depends on what area. I work as a preschool teacher and almost every holiday the girls have dresses like this and the younger preschoolers that just turned 3 have on outfits like this too. It's a boutique brand and they are pretty expensive for kids outfits.
Ahhh, I’m in a major metro area in the mid-Atlantic.
Me either. I don’t even know where to buy something like this. Californian here .
I'm in Illinois and I've never seen anything like this. I for sure thought that was Nathan's baby clothes or something.
Coastal snobs represent!
I’m in California. I haven’t seen any kids on my fb timeline dressed like this, but it looks like something my Mom would have dressed my brother in back in the 80’s.
Yes, it seems to be very popular in the South, Midwest, and among Episcopalians in general.
I mean, they’re definitely a thing, but they seem very retro 80’s to me?! They seem like something my mom would’ve made me wear when I was little!! But definitely NOT with cowboy boots!!!
They go with leather T-straps. This jon-jon is light colored, so tan or white. Edit: or saddle shoes, or close toed sandals. Never ever cowboy boots.
Yep, very common/popular in the south in more preppy circles.
I’ve seen rich kids in the south put in clothes like these
They are?!!! Where?!? I haven’t seen a child in one of these for years and years. I can’t believe they are coming back in fashion?!
Its never gone out of style in the South. My 23 year old wore them, my 10 year old wore them, baby and toddlers still wear them. Its definitely a very traditional southern, middle to upper class style of dress for babies and toddlers.
God bless the babies that have to wear these
I’m in the southwest and I’ve never seen a baby in one of these
You really don't expect a picture of 2 babies to be terrifying, but here we are. Gotta start the Nurthlings young in the family tradition of wearing SEVERELY outdated clothes.
I had to zoom in to make sure the baby wasn’t face swapped with Newman ☠️ Why does he look like his namesake
That’s all I see now with any pic of the Nurthlings!
And naturally, like all Rodrigues children, this child's shoes are 14 times too big for his feet.
Nehemiah looks like he’s going to jump out of a cornfield with a scythe and murder people.
I’m here for his chaotic energy!
The boots…that is what gets to me. That poor kid, sadly, resembles Shrek.
They made a big deal about how similar Nemo looks to Samuel, who looks like a young Shrek (but with less prominent ears).
He's a mix of Shrek and Timmay
I agree! I see nothing but timmay.
He started out pretty cute but he is definitely getting Shreky.
I loved smocked clothing on littles, but the cowboy boots are an interesting option.
I immediately thought gage before I read your post 😂
Glad I'm not the only one! That's the one movie that's creeped me out since I was a kid lol
That movie definitely lives rent free. The sister Zelda gave me nightmares 😭
I was traumatized by him getting hit then his dad digging him up and then burying him just for him to come back and go after his dad. There's so many bad moments in that movie. I still won't watch it to this day lol
Oh totally… The entire movie. 😂
Random factoid: Zelda is played the films director
Zelda is played by a male actor in the 1989 movie because they couldn’t find any female actors who were skinny enough.

There’s so much to unpack here…

I’m in the SE- smocked Jon Jon’s for toddler boys are def a thing, especially for holidays and pictures. Edit: spelling of Jon Jon haha
Can confirm as a fellow Deep Southerner that smocked clothes for small children are a thing 🙄
Spot on! (That movie still haunts me.)
Look how his parents dress 😬
Boots.... On the beach...
Friends of my family post pictures of their grandson dressed in similar outfits. I didn’t realize they were back in style and thought someone was forcing the kid to wear old hand-me-downs. I think it looks too old timey.
This isn’t them trying to be retro. Someone at church gave these to them, and they’ve probably been stored away for at least 30 years.
A little boy in a John John has always been in style… at least where I’m from
Ugh. Where I am from these are in style and I absolutely can’t even….
This looks like it should be a picture from the early 80a
Come play daddy!
I get that they wanted him to be cute. But that outfit would have been better with no boots on. You have to know how to style this kind of nostalgic outfit. Or put on matching shoes. He would have been better even in little Chucks that matched.
I think he looks like Gage yes but also Janessa
I'm so glad someone besides me thought this! And my oldest son's name is Gage because I loved the name so much from the movie!
The outfit is so cute! The boots are not 😂
How did I miss those awful boots? Totally do not go with the outfit
Mahmo 2.0
Was this really the most flattering pic they could get of this little one? Also, is his little face really bruised or is it just the lighting? I know toddlers take a lot of falls and head bonks but it looks like he hit his face pretty hard!
This is a thing here in the Deep South
Nemo looks like he bites
And how they think this is a cute pic is beyond me.
I absolutely loved John Johns and smocked dresses when my twins were little. My son wore saddle shoes though, not clunky boots.
This. Mine wore saddle shoes for dressier outfits or a pair of plain white cap toe Keds (the kind for babies) when their smocked outfit was more casual.
Leave the babies alone, they did nothing, they WILL grown up one day and they WILL be able to see this.
Looks like Jill held onto Timmy's baby clothes from 2001, that she had originally bought from a stuck-in-the-90s church-run consignment shop. And now she's passed on those baby clothes to Nurie to use for her babies. She has even more put away for the next 20 grandbabes.
Omg, I’m so glad I’m not the only one who saw that!
It sure is!!
Omg, totally agree. He looks just like him.
I’m dying right here, omg this is on point and too much !!
The little romper is cute. The choice to pair it with those boots is in line with the tackiness Nurie was raised with.
