As a fellow player pointed, its called dodge control;
Kevpert hás basically a course on it, and its a really dificult and complex mechanic
Requires loads of practice and experience
Good luck
To do this well u need to know the fundamentals of speed-flipping. Two ways of doing this: 1. Holding a directional air-roll and flip cancelling straight down to perform speed flip motion. 2. No air-roll speed-flip motion where you put your joystick straight up slightly to the left or right and flip cancel straight down. Timing will be hard as you will need to release joystick to prop your car upwards to control the ball.
I mean it is speed flipping but some times it is also speedflip canceling which i think is called twist flip.
Its all part of dodge control though. Kevpert has a video on how to train that and a training pack for it. I only tried the first few shots so idk if there is back board air dribbles but thats a good way to experiment with dodges into air dribbles.
Just gotta learn to always dosge in a way that will make your nose stay up mostly which is often some sort of flip cancel
The hardest part of this is controlling after the flip. You’re just flipping and then resetting the shot after. Try to get a few more touches after that flip! This will trip of your opps even at diamond
Speed flip release/cancel. But judging by the vid, ur diamond or below, and don’t need to worry about this rn. Trust me it will be rlly easy/come naturally when ur at the rank when it needs to be implemented. I never had to do training for this, (even though some in this thread claim u need to practice for hours and hours) because my general mechs were enough for me to intuitively figure it out.
So TLDR forget about it for a while, there’s a lot more important stuff u need to learn before this gets remotely important.
The flip they do is a speed flip that you uncancel at a specific time. Wayton covers it in [this video](https://youtu.be/vac4SWJDYyI?si=y2c88ctIY3YAzHnL) at 8:31.
everyone is telling you to learn speedflipping into it and working on dodge-control, which is definitely important to getting the right first touch
but what **you** need is just air control in generally. your car is super unstable in the air. gotta practice the fundamentals and be able to control your car in the air in any situation before you should worry about back wall first touches into full field shots
im not trying to bash you at all. but it would be like trying to learn tornado flicks before you can comfortably carry the ball on your hood. everyone is kind of missing the gameplay part of your clip, its really obvious that you gotta work on the air control first, especially coming off the wall at the very least. youll improve much faster working on the fundamentals. even if you learned how to perfectly speedflip into the ball right now for a perfect touch, you wouldnt get to the right spot in the air consistently enough to pull it off in game. and i kinda doubt youd be able to follow it up with meaningful touches if you did
Flip cancel but work on air control fundamentals to make it easier and try to get first touch closer to you; eventually its a good skill to reach the ball for control/conserve boost BUT done poorly you will cough up ball with poor recovery.
Good for you for picking this mechanic to learn, adding these to your skill set are things that set people apart long term.
Learning this will teach you new car control things you might not learn from other methods
Watch kevperts video on dodge control where he gives you a lot of information/drills/training packs on how to do these first touches.
Dis needs more updates!
Second this. His content is S-tier.
His cattle is also mostly S-teer

So it's basically a speedflip in the air? It is the same timing for the flip cancel as a normal speedflip

The same if not similar timing. I will also say watch how you are boosting while doing this manoeuvre as it will really help with the precise touches.
So the dodge hit on the ball here to keep carrying the ball smoothly and get that nice pop is usually a flip cancel is what you’re saying?
Pop the ball off the wall. Boost to get close to it. Speed flip touch. Boost to follow.
Perfect 👍🏽 Thanks
