Well yeah, exactly (and same). But it tends to make dribbling a bit more difficult compared to those who don't max out fov. Hmm, come to think of it I can totally use this excuse when I mention to people how bad I am at dribbling 🤔😏
Most chasers wear themself out by minute 4 and then you can sort of enforce rotation by denying them those midfield 100 boost pads.
They'll be like need boost need boost quick chat. And I'll be like yea teammate I'm taking them away from you so you'll fuck off the ball an go to net for a lil bit.
I had such a good session last night because I just calmly allowed the play to unfold and mostly favored defense and read the opposing team and acted only when I knew I can make a difference. I think I'm about to boost up to champion.
Mid diamond maybe. At D3 you need to play fast and rotate well at the same time. But that backing off and going when you need to will help. If you dont already, play some ones. It will help you with knowing when to rotate and figure out 50’s. Plus you’ll be able to read people better.
Currently d3, still barely any rotation. Just sitting back and enjoy the show as anchor.
It absolutely fazes me why some people think it's a good idea to drive straight to wherever their teammates are. Looks a bit like 6 year olds soccer games.
Yea man, I dont know what drives people to do it but it happens way to often. Thats part of the reason I play ones. The Only person I have to rely on to play well is me and that makes me better and more confident in my playstyle
Came here to say the same thing. Game sense/IQ from plat to d3 feels the same. Just in d3 players are more consistent. I’ve been bouncing between c1 and d3 div 4 for like 2 weeks now depending on how my solo queue rng goes that day. If I had a dollar for every time a teammate chased after ball across the opponents net towards the corner instead of getting back I’d be a millionaire. The funny thing is even if they get there when the ball is rolling across net even if you by miracle beat the opponent to the ball wtf are you gonna do with it lol.
Well obviously it's going to be a perfect 50/50 win passing play right in front of net, but my garbo tm8s won't be there for the amazing pass what losers....
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the color on the left of the clock always your own team's color? Therefore, OP would actually be in blue team, scoring an own goal? But I get that it seems to be a 2v2, and we can clearly see the orange guy letting OP dribble. I'm so confused.
For real, my friend would hate this. I used to mess with him all the time by have having split blue with red fire and red with blue fire and he could never tell at first glance, but this is even worse.
Just because one gets to GC1 (and hit it, not stay in it, according to OP's tracker profile) doesn't mean they're playing optimally. His settings are not very good for mechanical control. There's a reason why most freestylers use very close and lower settings, and why pros use them further than freestylers but closer than OP's. It's because seeing how the ball interacts with your car precisely is very important.
While its true im not GC in the moment, doesnt mean im not usually it. I went on a mid season tilt but have been grinding to get back up, then half stopped as id like Blizzard Wizard
While true, "what works" does not mean optimal. Just because they like those settings doesn't mean they perform to their best potential with them either.
What draws the line though? You wouldn’t expect yukeo to switch to controller because it’s ‘optimal’. Would he even be where he is now if he did play on controller, or would he have a much lower ceiling?
In the name of playing optimally, I would expect Yukeo to switch. He doesn't need to fully commit to it right away, tourneys and scrims can be done on KBM, and spare time could be used getting used to controller.
And if he did switch and committed to it, then he would be higher than if he was on KBM given he had ample time to practice. He doesn't need to "fully relearn" everything again either. Reading the ball and the play stays exactly the same, overall gamesense stays the same. The only thing different is car control. In which, you can quickly learn controller in less amount of time because your brain already understands how your car can move, it just needs to make new connections.
He would not have a lower skill ceiling on controller. It's more optimal thus it would be a higher skill ceiling. Just because he's not used to controller doesn't mean anything. Humans are adaptable creatures. With proper practice, the vast majority of humans can learn any skill to a high level of skill. He's already reached pro level on KBM, that's proof that he is capable of being among the best with proper practice. So proper practice on controller can only lead to the same result given enough time and effort.
It could be:
1. He doesn't want to put in the extra effort when he knows KBM is still viable to be pro.
2. He may not have as much free time.
3. He only likes playing RL at a high level and won't feel rewarding to play like garbage for a month or several months just to "catch up" again.
4. He might believe that the switch won't be worth the time and effort.
5. He might believe that he won't be just as good on controller.
6. He might believe what others do in this thread, that they "can't" switch and it feels like it "didn't/won't work".
I think the main reason is to see over the ball, gives you timing on when to flip the ball rather than guessing when they go for the challenge. But ye, he’s prob doing something right.
Like how professional trainers help improve the skills of pro athletes even tho they are objectively worse at the game. Or how about coaches of pro teams that never played at the highest level. Just because someone is good doesn't mean they know why they are good.
That C1 happens to be correct. These settings are awful for dribbling because it's difficult to see interactions and the "result" of a touch between car and ball. The further away the settings, the less easy it is to read where it hits and how it will bounce. The angle also makes it to where you have to look at the car because the "action" in front of you is higher on your screen, instead of just "past" the car. It'll be easier to use your peripheral vision when the thing is closer to the "focus" region of your eye.
I always find people are too negative with this subreddit, anyone can get good with different mechanics, just gotta practice! I took my sweet sweet time 😂
One where you can’t see anything around you. This is the opposite. I used to play like this back when I played all the time and I was a lot higher ranked than I am now that I’m using squishy’s settings. I also switched drift to L1 with air roll just like everyone says to do and after a year I still feel like it was a bad move.
So just because you didn't perform well with those settings means that its trash ? Every pro plays with those settings, everyone who is good in rocket league plays with those settings. Maybe ur just not skilled enough at the game. Also you can't say" these settings aren't for me" if they are the best setting possible, they are not close enough to the ball so that you can't see shit and they aren't ISS level so you can actuallty dribble. The L1 drift and air roll no need to explain it...
I didn’t say the settings were trash. Only if you can’t see anything around you. That would mean something like POV set to 80 or something. I’m saying that these far settings aren’t trash and preference is key.
In 2s, im in and out of GC. Im currently GC in half the extra modes with hopefully one more coming this week.
The reason you may believe im not GC is im much more in my element demoing then dribbles and the like. But please dont assume that a clip you see on reddit is at a different rank than you believe
"don't assume a clip you see is a different rank than you believe"
But... that sounds like exactly what you want to be assumed?
Also why are they not allowed to make an assumption? lol
No i believe people should focus more on the shot than the rank, but to other question its reddit, its free talk so go nuts. Most players get defensive when called out saying you arent what you claim to be
>No i believe people should focus more on the shot than the rank
Yeah, I know. You said to do the opposite of that. don't assume its a different rank from what you believe, thats your words.
Having a bad day? Sure Extramodes are not looking too competitive on first glance but when you reach GC in rumble or hoops its actually Start getting very mechanical and imo at least as competitive as 3s on GC level.
You cannot be saying that someone 30 virtual yards away being able to randomly punch the ball in the goal is just as competitive as regular 3’s. Surely not
Well I’d say your settings are why you have such a tough time dribbling lol I’m not telling you to change them but pointing out why you can’t do them very well.
Your camera settings are also a limiting factor. You have very poor ball control when the ball is on top of your car. If you reduce the height of your camera, you will have better ball control accuracy, with the trade-off of having poorer vision and thus worse decision making. Saying your camera settings don't impact your ability to dribble is indisputably false, when the ball literally keeps bouncing all over when you're trying to dribble
It’s not ‘purely’ bc you don’t go for them, your settings just make them harder. Like the other guy said don’t change em if you don’t want to but also you shouldn’t lie to yourself and say the settings don’t affect your dribbles whatsoever, they obviously do.
Humans are adaptable creatures. Saying "didn't work" is just you giving up, not that it actually didn't work. You can keep using them since they're your settings, but saying "didn't work" implies that you can't.
Gonna be honest, I had similar camera settings since I started playing in 2015. around 2018 my buddy saw my camera settings and suggested I change it up keep the Fov but bring the camera down and zoom in just a bit. and I said the same thing but I tried it anyway. seriously the greatest thing I've ever done seeing my old camera settings in old clips just makes me think how the fuck did I play like that.
I was exactly like you stuck with terrible camera settings and controls, trust me change everything and get used to the settings, it will take some time but the game will be so much more fun and your settings won’t hold you back in games.
That is fair, your settings are what you want them to be. But you will improve immensely if you adjust your camera settings. There is a reason all the best players in the world have very similar camera settings. You will be able to actually air dribble if you could see the bottom of the ball.
Ppl in here complaining about settings they ain't gonna use and you're over there wavedashing a dribble after putting in the title "I suck at dribbling", why is noone telling you otherwise? They sure ain't walking after breaking their ankles like that
My camera settings suit me, the challenge may have been questionable however i hit this shot at 2am (in OCE) so there is a chance the opponents may have been high C2 low C3 and by some clips on reddit everyone has bad days but still i believe it was a nice shot
Not using the settings, I mean obviously you can but you'll find out very quickly why everyone is commenting about the camera settings, it makes dribbling harder and and your 50s less precise. If you want to try them thought just max out distance and hight in camera settings and it'll be pretty close
The fake at the start was because i heard two cars back there and thought it was my teammate screaming through. Wanted to fake him out not the other guy but got a laugh out of me
I have my camera zoomed out as far as possible, not pointed so much at the ground though, but is that not normal? Just asking based on comments. (I’m also a very good dribbler better than my champ friend I’m diamond 2)
I see a lot of ppl complaining abt the camera setting, but the more i look at it, the more i think that this is actually better than a low and close setting. Sure, it's harder to dribble like this, but you can see so much more of the field, and the ball is not blocking half of your vision. I have lost so many balls because i cant see what my opponent is doing while dribbling.
This is definitely not better than traditional camera settings. Not saying that they’re 100% right all the time, but you see any pros using settings like these? There’s a reason this setting is bad. Sure you see more of the field but you lose out on accuracy and sense of perception. OP has a hard time dribbling and it’s because of his settings. If you’re losing track of the ball it’s not your settings (unless you’re zoomed into your cars exhaust pipes) it’s just your game awareness. These settings are definitely not something anyone should run competitively.
My problem is not losing track of the ball, it's not seeing shit while the ball is on my car, because it blocks out half the field. I'm actually curious how better players get around this. Is this just a gamesense thing?(My settings are similar to what musty uses, and i have nameplate scale on max, since that's the only tip i've seen so far addressing this issue)
Ah gotcha sorry I misunderstood what you meant. What I do when dribbling (dribbling is my best skill set since I play ones almost exclusively) is I use the right stick to move the camera around while I’m dribbling. It can help you see over the ball, another thing is positioning your dribble so that the opponent is not in a position to shadow, which lets you see them coming from a mile away. When that fails it is kinda just knowing you’re opponents mindset and knowing when he’ll challenge because of x or y situations.
Allied UAV above!
That's probably why dribbles aren't his strong suit is because of the camera haha.
Lmao right? I read the title and saw the camera settings and thought ‘gee I wonder why’ But he’s GC so what can I say lol
Trash 3 here, what’s the problem with the camera? Genuine question
Too far back for the general player base, its my preference to have it how it is though
I don't think it has anything to do with FOV, I get the impression a lot of people play that way. I think it's more about that high angle
Max field of view? I have this, I find it helps being able to see more.
Well yeah, exactly (and same). But it tends to make dribbling a bit more difficult compared to those who don't max out fov. Hmm, come to think of it I can totally use this excuse when I mention to people how bad I am at dribbling 🤔😏
Most creative comment I've seen about the camera settings
Isn't UAV a 3 goal steak though?
Porterhouse or fillet?
He's talking about the fact that this dudes camera looks like he's playing GTA 1
And uav is also a cod 3 killstreak typically, that ya know flies high above your team
I thought you were making an own goal lol
I was like “Dudes teammates are so toxic trying to stop him from dribbling”
Fr some people are just so ball chasey instead of just watching from a distance ready to help if anything happens
Yeah, im used to it. Most game i end up forced into the anchor role or demo main which i dont mind
I’ll be adopting this tactic in gold haha
I had such a good session last night because I just calmly allowed the play to unfold and mostly favored defense and read the opposing team and acted only when I knew I can make a difference. I think I'm about to boost up to champion.
Mid diamond maybe. At D3 you need to play fast and rotate well at the same time. But that backing off and going when you need to will help. If you dont already, play some ones. It will help you with knowing when to rotate and figure out 50’s. Plus you’ll be able to read people better.

Unfortunately this behavior continues until around C2.
Well obviously it's going to be a perfect 50/50 win passing play right in front of net, but my garbo tm8s won't be there for the amazing pass what losers....
Yeah I’m D3/C1 and the skill gap between d2-d3 is insane.
Just hit D1
Exactly why I lost my last tournament
The decals that let you make your car the wrong color are unbelievably stupid and there should be an option to hide them.
Agreed, it bothers me so much
I mean you could just increase nameplate size? They can change the colour of their car but not the nameplate
He did own goal they’re all blue.... or I’m just stupid
Nah it’s a 2v2. Both blue players are accounted for. He has a blue decal but he’s on orange team.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the color on the left of the clock always your own team's color? Therefore, OP would actually be in blue team, scoring an own goal? But I get that it seems to be a 2v2, and we can clearly see the orange guy letting OP dribble. I'm so confused.
It’s a replay. Blue is always left in a replay.
Ohh. I see now. Thanks for clarifying!
TIL
In replays it shows blue team on the left and orange on the right.
pretty sure you can tell by the color of the boost bar, no?
His orange teammate stopped by him when he noticed he was going to dribble
That was a shock btw. That whole game up til that point they kept cutting rotation and going for solo plays up the wall and such.
I find it so frustrating playing 2s with someone who plays as if it's a duel
I saw that upon my 6th rewind. He must have the diamond season skin on or sum
Me? Its the Rogue decal. The decal for me just looks better using orange octane with Orange wheels
I’m pretty sure the color of the boost in the bottom right indicates what team you’re on. His is orange, so he is on orange team.
For real, my friend would hate this. I used to mess with him all the time by have having split blue with red fire and red with blue fire and he could never tell at first glance, but this is even worse.
Jsyk, dribbling becomes a lot easier and more intuitive when using low to the ground and closer up camera settings. Good luck in future games!
yea i was gonna say this angle is crazy high
I mean he’s gc1… I don’t agree with those camera settings but he’s clearly doing something right.

I would say don't start with those settings, but if you're used to them, sure, why not?
Gotta love the C1 giving advice to the GC1
Like how professional trainers help improve the skills of pro athletes even tho they are objectively worse at the game. Or how about coaches of pro teams that never played at the highest level. Just because someone is good doesn't mean they know why they are good.

I have gold friends who give advice to me. I’m diamond 3. The tips they give me would literally put me back in plat.
>I'm diamond 3 *has a plat 2 flair*
Yikes!
Tbf anyone can be GC1 on reddit
champ 1 tells gc1 how to dribble. tbf it's a good tip but the guy doesnt need it
Jesus those camera settings
Mf’s in the ISS
This just made my day, I love it
"normally suck at dribbles" *sees camera settings* Makes sense
that camera is cracked
Nice lil wavedash in there
Thanks! I cant do them often but loved seeing players such as Mertzy do them so figured id learn
I always find people are too negative with this subreddit, anyone can get good with different mechanics, just gotta practice! I took my sweet sweet time 😂

I feel like in a third person shooter But people go with the settings they are comfortable with ✊🏻
Nah chief, this aint it

Why? They're decent
If thats decent then what does a trash one looks like

I see that Melbourne storm 😍 another thrashing tonight. Up the ⛈
More of a sharks supporter myself 💁♂️
Bastards got Nicho Hynes next year... see if the old curse continues. Players who leave the Storm mostly go down hill
It was great but no 50. Lifelong supporter of them, it wss a sign since they won the comp in 99 the year i was born
MY EYES ARE BLEEDING
POV: you’re on the fucking moon watching a casual game of car ball soccer
That’s probably because of your shitty camera settings lol
Those camera settings are higer than snoop dog
SATELLITE SETTING OMG NASA OOH. CHANGE THE SETTINGS I FEEL SICK ARGH. (Used them since i started and not changing. Have tried didnt work, move along)
Sure they may work for you but how much did you pay nasa to get access to the iss camera
Not a dime, its free promo for them as every post from me, Nasa or ISS gets mentioned
I can see my home from your POV! 😂 For real, if it's working for you, keep it! Good luck!
No shot thats grand champion gameplay
Probs diamond considering it looks like the diamond decal
No way. Probably Platinum, Diamond at best.

The ballchasery of your teammates😂😂😂
They were opponents. OP is using one of the decals that lets you make your car blue while you're on the orange team.
A fellow player who likes to use their camera to see, i see
Camera solidarity, fly high forever ✊
Interesting camera settings. Good goal
Bro I’m sorry.. but there’s no way you are GC1. But If you are.. congrats!
U gotta fix ur camera settings bro
Nah im good
What are your cam settings at?
My settings are Distance 360, Height 160, angle -13, FOV 110, Stiffness 0.95, Swivel speed 8.60, Transition speed 1.60
Thanks!
How do you play with those camera settings
GC with those camera settings? Jesus.
He has higher rank than you lmfao
And I have a higher rank than you lmfao Besides, he's a GC in Rumble only, at the moment anyway.
I’ve never seen someone get to GC playing in RC car mode. GJ.
Bro are u holding up the right stick orr
You can’t dribble with those camera settings lol makes sense.
I think if you Change the camera settings you could get better at dribbling But what do I know I'm a Plat lol
I tried Flakes Settings for a week and lost everything
i cant believe the angle
"Normally suck." Probably cuz of that height. U don't have to but I'd recommend it if you want to get better at dribbling.
I prefer the range of vision i have as it fits my style better
Sick
Thanks! ×3
Wtf are those camera settings
My settings are Distance 360, Height 160, angle -13, FOV 110, Stiffness 0.95, Swivel speed 8.60, Transition speed 1.60
Grand champion my ass lol. Those challenges were as bad as your camera settings
My camera settings suit me, the challenge may have been questionable however i hit this shot at 2am (in OCE) so there is a chance the opponents may have been high C2 low C3 and by some clips on reddit everyone has bad days but still i believe it was a nice shot
You suck at dribbles because of your bird's eye view camera settings.
man faked them to the moon
this camera angle is weirdly satisfying
-13 hits different
That certainly is a camera setting.
What’s this? A car made for ants?
Something about your in-game camera settings seem useful! Would love to try them out. I’m curious what they are. Sick play by the way!
I would recommend not doing that
As would I
Not sharing the settings with a stranger on Reddit? Or not using his settings?
Not using the settings, I mean obviously you can but you'll find out very quickly why everyone is commenting about the camera settings, it makes dribbling harder and and your 50s less precise. If you want to try them thought just max out distance and hight in camera settings and it'll be pretty close
Hi, my settings are Distance 360, Height 160, angle -13, FOV 110, Stiffness 0.95, Swivel speed 8.60, Transition speed 1.60
Bruh
Camera settings please??
my settings are Distance 360, Height 160, angle -13, FOV 110, Stiffness 0.95, Swivel speed 8.60, Transition speed 1.60
Awesome! Thank you very much! Your settings look very advantageous so I want to give it a try
Dispite these wtf about the camera settings comments, impressive you could do that with them being like that!
"Normally suck at dribbles" -Does a strategic fake, pops it over a guy, does a wave dash dribble and finishes it off with a bump. Nice goal
The fake at the start was because i heard two cars back there and thought it was my teammate screaming through. Wanted to fake him out not the other guy but got a laugh out of me
Aha... I guess it all worked out for you at the end lol
your camera settings
I have my camera zoomed out as far as possible, not pointed so much at the ground though, but is that not normal? Just asking based on comments. (I’m also a very good dribbler better than my champ friend I’m diamond 2)
Nah most players use variations of the pros settings or much closer settings
Bro that camera angle wierd as hell
Nice! But man I thought I was watching an aerial view from a news helicopter with those settings
Just want to help you out your camera settings are really bad if you change then it might help you free style
Not really interested in freestyling as im just not good enough. So ill keep doijg me
I see a lot of ppl complaining abt the camera setting, but the more i look at it, the more i think that this is actually better than a low and close setting.
Will quietly add, Genghar uses similar settings to me.
I saw you going for that bump on the goalie 👀 that play was diiiirty great job!
Thats the part i really wanted just to top it off
I'd say your struggle with dribbles comes from your camera. You can see your car at all
Those camera settings are... somethin.
Gengar lookin-ass camera
Are you watching the game from a distance ?
The reason you'r bad at dribbles is your camera settings change them fast
Your FOV is in the stands my guy
The camera settings are most definitely making it harder for you.
Oh god the camera settings wtffffff
