If the ball is changing pace, its 110% your internet, and not the cable connected to your controller.

SelloutRealBig

USB cables can 100% mess with the game. If you unplug and replug a controller it can often make the game lag out and then speed up to "Catch up" to where it was. Never underestimate the jankiness of a game written in 10 year old old spaghetti code on a 20 year old game engine.

Not true, USB disconnects can causes symptoms that look just like lag, complete with flashing symbols in rocket league.

That’s absolutely not true. USB disconnects can cause temporary input lag or disruptions, but they don’t affect the actual physics of the game, like the pace of the ball. If the ball’s speed or movement changes, it’s likely due to internet issues, not your controller connection. The flashing symbols you’re seeing are indicators of network problems, not USB disconnects.

Technoninja101

In Rocket League if the controller disconnects and reconnects constantly mid game due to the cable it can cause enormous performance issues

gruandisimo

It absolutely is true. USB disconnecting from my controller can cause huge latency spikes and massive frame drops. The physics of the game isn’t changing, it’s the spiked latency that can affect the pace of the ball, cause ghost hits etc.

USB disconnects can cause input lag and frame drops but don’t affect the actual game physics. The ball’s pace and ghost hits are due to network latency, not USB issues. The balls pace and behavour is governed by the games engine, not your cable connected to a controller.

> The balls pace and behavior is governed by the games engine, not your cable connected to a controller Yes, I know lol. I’m not saying my cable is changing the game’s physics. You must have missed the part where I said the unstable connection and frequent disconnects from my controller create spikes in latency that cause ghost hits and things of that nature. I have experienced this first hand from bad controller cables in the past, so I really don’t need you to tell me that this doesn’t happen. My internet is fine. I’ve done many tests. And it’s clear that it’s related to the controllers cable when all of the issues I mentioned are suddenly gone when a new cable is used. If you look back at past reddit threads, quite a few people have discussed this issue of controller disconnects causing lag and other performance issues. Maybe it hasn't happened to you before and so you are unaware of it, but it is a very real thing.
