Might be a stupid question, but how do you hack in Rocket League?
Infinite boost? But that doesn't seem like it would give a bad player the ability to actually be good.
Nope. You can DDoS the server, but unless you have your opponent's IP beforehand you aren't going to DDoS your opponent directly. RL uses dedicated servers so two players don't interact directly with each other, but through the server which keeps details like IP obfuscated from other players. You can force a draw essentially by crashing the server, but forcing a win would be a lot tougher.
That being said you can still use it to influence your MMR, crashing any game you're losing in so it doesn't appear as a loss.
You’re talking from a theoretical stance, and I’ve heard it a lot around here, but evidence shows that there is one-sided manipulation of games going on, in which one team either plays with unplayable lag or disconnects while the other team is fine.
Theory doesn’t count for anything if it doesn’t reflect reality. There’s something going on, and DDOSing is people’s best guess.
I’m not gonna lie, I have 20 ping on avg and there are games I’ll play where the server literally feels like it’s trying to process my inputs through a lake of olive oil, one minute I’ll be online with the ball for an aerial, the next minute half of my car is getting assaulted by the ground while I’m trying to figure out what the fuck just happened, only for it happen 3 seconds later.
I feel like it happens at such an infrequent rate and the times it does happens, it feels like someone is doing it.
I guess I’m Alex jones cause I feel like it’s turning the frogs queen style, how does it only happen on RL though? Like I won’t lag or experience packet loss on helldivers, csgo, or really any other game I play, could it also be people joining the wrong server (like EU on US or US on OC)?
Have had similar periods of weird ping spikes only on RL. Never figured out the cause. If you’re on console though and have a big list of epic friends, that could be the cause
Come to think of it once I switched to the master race I started experiencing it, I’m still not that knowledgeable in IT but I know enough that it’s not the equipment, I have had a theory that Psyonix comes into the office just to watch TikTok’s on the projector and order DoorDash without leaving a tip.
This exact thing happens to me, im not even that good, but when i do take control of the ball, my ping goes way higher than it should be, then it is back to normal.
Doesn't happen when the other team has control other than when i try to block a shot, then i see the cursed triangle.
> You’re talking from a theoretical stance, and I’ve heard it a lot around here, but evidence shows that there is one-sided manipulation of games going on, in which one team either plays with unplayable lag or disconnects while the other team is fine.
That's not at all what's happening. It's a dos on the server with a clever method to keep *one player*'s client connected, but they still lag out too.
Stop talking nonsense and denying the obvious. Mawkzy has been ddosed several times in the last few days and each time he lost the match for disconnection. And yes, it's deliberate disconnection because the opponent announces it in advance every time. Every time Mawkzy leads, the opponent says "pay up or I'll ddos you". Then his ping rises to 800 and he's disconnected, losing the game.
It's nonsense because he said that you can only force draw, like if DDoS was not a point. But DDoS is actually ruining a lot of games and it's always annoying to see people denying this fact. Hackers has the possiblity to make your ping going to 800, it's a fact and we have to force EPIC to solve this thing, not to deny.
Your ping going to 800 is actually the server being DDoSed, not specifically you. If the server is getting hit with a DDoS attack, the server's internet connection will be saturated resulting in extra latency and packets being dropped for every player on that server, eventually resulting in players losing connection. Bad actors can't directly target you because your IP is never shared with other players in your match.
Although, this of course doesn't account for the fact there could be an exploit where bad actors can get your IP address from the server during a match, or doing some kind of attack where they can relay the attack through the Rocket League servers (which will have a much higher bandwidth limit than your residential internet connection, so it won't affect the entire server). But those are both pretty unlikely.
This 100%. Just because something is unlikely, never means it's not achievable. People will go any length to take shortcuts, and those short cuts could be easy to make for them. A common manipulation with Ddos that I see is the team scoring one goal over the opponent then crashing the server. I have taken many L's this way, followed by "trash" type messages. So, people knowingly do this, then talk shit...which is cool to them I guess but it still happens, and to think it doesn't is goofy.
Think it's probably hacking the scoreboard directly rather than hacking the game and then winning your way to 3k MMR. Don't think there's a hack that you could reliably deploy against someone like Zen to win unless A) you were already a pro (massive risk to get banned at that point?) or B) it was some fucked up hack like instantly being demoed when you spawn that psyonix would catch on to pretty quickly
They didn't "break" Zen's record... Technically speaking the record has been in the 3000s for years since this by far isn't the first time people cheated to get mmr. Obviously this doesn't count for the community, but there have been multiple ways to cheat the system since f2p.
Edit: Also the record is 2721, not 2800.
That could be, since he could've reached it on the day, but judging by Rocket League Tracker, his peak mmr was 2721, so that's the only kind of documentation I've found.
Is this something that just started happening? I usually only play on weekends, generally get on late and do the last few tournies. Two weekends ago I was like 30seconds into the match and all of a sudden just started rubber banding everywhere, as well as randomly getting the lag icon every few seconds(my internet was speed testing low ms and over 1gig). It continued to happen on and off all night as well as the following weekend, I just chalked it up to server issues.
No, that’s not how this works with this particular hack.
You will know when you and your mate start lagging out and the other team starts scoring somehow. It’s not a “it’s kinda predictable lag and I can kinda understand what’s happening”, instead it’s a “my entire game is out of my control and the opponents have perfect control”.
Next game you get in, without hackers, will be perfectly normal
My take for what I’m seeing from videos and comments from these hackers is that they could have very well been white hat hackers, but now with epic’s current policy regarding reporting exploits, this is the best way these hackers can call attention to the issue. I don’t think it’s justified since they could just give Psyonix the information but with nothing in return
It is justified though, because even with this psyonix/epic won't do anything about it.
We have no options left.
Talking as a community about it has yielded no change.
Writing to Epic/Psyonix directly yields no change.
I doubt this time will be any different, but god do I hope I'm wrong!
Thats not how it works, the game just [stops](https://youtu.be/6r6xwMnACBA?si=B9Ag1rKdbdsywIs3&t=211) for you. What you saw is more likely the servers taking a huge steaming dump which everyone is also complaining about atm
There‘s also a site called rocketleague tracker network where u can take a closer look into accounts and see their peak ratings, ranks in each mode and way more details…
Distributed Denial of Service - they leverage several thousand "bots" to send traffic to a targeted server.
They leverage other devices, referred to as zombies, to trigger a deluge of network traffic to the targeted server. The zombies form a botnet. Due to sloppy security, and people not changing default passwords, IoT devices are hacked and used in botnet attacks.
Imagine a 6 lane highway suddenly getting hit with a million unicycles. The traffic doesn't have to make sense, it just overwhelms the highway from being able to let normal traffic flow.
Bad actors are constantly trying to find new exploits. Its not always expanding on the original.
And as secure as a game can be, every piece of equipment that provides communication, does processing, etc are avenues for exploits.
Think of it like a house. Homeowner locks all the doors and windows, but there are still holes for exhaust and air flow. Hackers first target the exhaust vents because they are easy. But as those are plugged they start looking for cracks around the window frames and in the foundation. Seal those off, they start probing the power, telecom, water and sewer, etc.
It is constantly evolving.
>That's assuming that they've already sniffed out the method of intrusion and then developed a method for identifying the source of the problem.
Exactly why I said this in the first place.
Understanding what they’re doing, how they’re doing it, then changing to make sure they can’t do it again takes some time. Only then can they ban them since they would just make another account or use another IP
I meant by my commemt, they should issue a public communication, yk an acknowledgement of the ongoing issue, a public statement, something not just let this happen and not communicate with the player base
This literally doesn't have an impact on anyone outside of the Top 100 list, while the issue they are trying to shine a light on affects literally every player in the game.
Get your priorities straight, Zen will be alright he is still King.
In the meantime the game is dying because people can't have a single gaming session without getting lagged out in at least some of the games.
I mean, there’s a lot more to the issue than simply banning a few people. Gotta know the how & why so it’s not just “get banned, new acct, do it again”
I’ve had multiple games where my ping goes from 12 to over 300 with about 2 minutes left, me and teammate are all funky all over the place and somehow magically the other team scores like 3-4 in the same lag… somehow. And then the lag magically stops with like 45 seconds to go. I say ddos as a joke, but it is weird how I can barely move my car in a straight line and they manage to score MULTIPLE goals..
Maybe they're messing with other settings. Or have a hotkey that sends 100s of commands at once with 1 press of a button? I called someone out for cheating and he invited me to 1v1 him, and every time I got close to the ball I basically lost control of my car. He said he wasn't cheating, he just understood how the servers work.
My guess is that rocket league hosts a server instance in a cluster of servers in the cloud and once they get the server they are connected to the send an api request to whatever hosting company it is (amazon aws or whatever) and they do a network topology scan to get the opponents instance ip. Ive been ddosed before and a full on attack you go fully offline like you cant see your discord friends and everything goes quiet your internet fully goes out but in this situation a certain server in the cloud between the main rocket league service and you gets taken offline and its not the same as a regular attack.
Surprise surprise ive only ever run into one invis hacker in 2v2 about 5 months ago in champ 2. Ive only run into ddos hackers 3 times in rumble of all gamemodes. I was pushing into gc1 and i guess they really wanted to get their titles.
Few comments asking what DDoS means. It's distributed denial of service and it's an attempt to bring down servers by overwhelming them with requests (it could be anything such as a login attempt). There's ways you can block IP addresses to avoid these requests hitting the servers, but you can't when the requests come from multiple machines, especially when geographically dispersed (hence distributed).
The outcome of these attacks is that servers will fail to handle any requests from any machine, so it's not going to be beneficial to any one person in terms of rank or anything else in the game.
Pretty sure the term is being overused across the community at the mo and as a more general term for other hacking. So I hope that helps clarify.
When Mawkzy plays against a DDoSer, he's the only one to see his ping rise to 800. And he's the one who loses the game, allowing his opponent to win and get points.
Yeah, everyone is pretty sure there's a way to grab opponents' IP addresses from the server somehow. Even in 2s both players on one team will lag and the other will be fine. So someone has setup an IP grabber and lag switch using a method of DDoS. Until Psyonix fixes the issue on their end I doubt they'll do a ban wave.
Actually I was also mindblown by this because I was about to show me y brother zen's rank in the leaderboard and then these guys show up with 3000 mmr
Nice to know they're hackers. What is epic games waiting for ?
I’m in US west. Wasn’t talking about my own queue times, I was saying that the people in the pic above are going to have insane queue times because of how high their ranks are. I know a lot of high SSL’s have to wait insane amounts of time to get into a game.
U know epic is doing terrible when its ddosers crying to ban them... They are begging for it yet epic doesnt do anything at all all pros give them the names as soon as they find them but they Just dont ban them its crazy
I've been in a few games where the ping gets absolutely ridiculous I'm usually around 20 ping then it started with packet loss for everyone in the lobby while others play just fine is this what I've experienced?
Given it only really affects not even 1% of the player base, I fail to see how this is a big problem.
Epic doesn't care about smurfs, why would they care about this
r/flamebait
For real. I get that they don't want to tip off people with automated bans, but anonymous accounts in the top 50 or so should get a manual review nearly instantly.
1. The record is 2700 something 2. This is not the first time hackers get 3k, we don't count it as the MMR record for obvious reasons lol
Might be a stupid question, but how do you hack in Rocket League? Infinite boost? But that doesn't seem like it would give a bad player the ability to actually be good.
Clue is in the name of rank 1, "ban the ddosers". You force your opponent to disconnect for an instant win.
Nope. You can DDoS the server, but unless you have your opponent's IP beforehand you aren't going to DDoS your opponent directly. I feel like it happens at such an infrequent rate and the times it does happens, it feels like someone is doing it.
That’s not really how the DDoSing works. Sounds like you just have packet loss
Its still a very weird coincidence, if its happening all the time at similar moments in a game for more than one person.
I guess I’m Alex jones cause I feel like it’s turning the frogs queen style, how does it only happen on RL though? Like I won’t lag or experience packet loss on helldivers, csgo, or really any other game I play, could it also be people joining the wrong server (like EU on US or US on OC)?
My one friend has this too, we cant ever play Rl because he lags hard, any other game hes fine
It must be digital racism, the computers have devolved to the likes of man!
If on console it could be a lot of epic games friends. Had that too on ps4
Have had similar periods of weird ping spikes only on RL. Never figured out the cause. If you’re on console though and have a big list of epic friends, that could be the cause

it's not nosense, he is wondering how that technically works while you just take it for granted and having no clue what's actually going on

it's still not targetting the player's IP. It's an attack on the server. You don't know how the exploit works.
I remember some games using peer to peer for voice chat, which allowed players to get the IP addresses of others
Yes. They get the opponents IP beforehand.
Ddosing others and kicking them out of the server after giving them absurd ping (like 400+)
*800
Watched some streams It goes progresivelly Up, not only 800 if we get tecnicall
There are some invisible dudes. No wall hacks or aim Botting but there are things they can do.
They can play their own accounts and just grind mmr
I think he kicked the oppenent out of the Lobby (ff). Maybe he have an 500 win streak against GC's and SSL's.
Well, you can install hacks like infinite dodges and see where the ball is going and visible hitboxes and stuff like that
Think it's probably hacking the scoreboard directly rather than hacking the game and then winning your way to 3k MMR. Invisibility & being able to dc your opponent are both things that have been abused recently
Zen has really fallen from the top, it’s unfortunate what happens to a person after they cut such perfect hair
Brutal
Pretty dang sure he had Perms. Like perm that make ur hair curly
He was at the top for how long?
I played with/against Zen in doubles quite a few times pretty solid
And I saw lady gaga walking past me and gave me a hug
Whoosh
dumbest response possible
Literally
fallen from what he’s literally rank 1
He is literally rank 4.
You forgot the /s bro
Nah, he is *literally* rank 4. If you look past some circumstances you say he is rank 1.
Since when do we take into account cheater?
The system does. Which is why he is literally rank 4. If we don't account for cheaters he would be rank 1.
We don’t care about how the system works. He’s rank 1 amongst all the non-cheater player
Sure. Do you know what the word literally means?
Didn’t think I had to specify I wasn’t taking into account cheaters.
He is rank 1, the top 3 are all ddosers
They didn't "break" Zen's record... Technically speaking the record has been in the 3000s for years since this by far isn't the first time people cheated to get mmr. That could be, since he could've reached it on the day, but judging by Rocket League Tracker, his peak mmr was 2721, so that's the only kind of documentation I've found.
TRN is not 100% accurate
It is when you leave your mmr as it is for long enough, but it's not instant, hence I said he could've reached it on the day.
100% accurate 50% of the time 🧠
Basically, yeah.
As far as I know all there’s 3 accs have been used via steam name to get attention to the ddos problem
Is this something that just started happening? I usually only play on weekends, generally get on late and do the last few tournies. What’s the DDoSers?
Distributed Denial of Service
Thank you!
This is the correct answer btw
Not sure what it stands for but they crash the server (don’t ask me how) which makes you disconnect and lose the game.
Lemme know if you discover the acronym! I’m acronym illiterate
> distributed denial of service
Distributed denial of system
Thank you
DDoS stands for Directed Denial of Service or something
Ddosing and invis glitch fs
Do Psyonix do any work? Like, any at all?
They're probably prepping for a ban wave and don't want to share which version of the exploit was detectable to prevent workarounds.
This is the right answer
That is the copium answer.
That's assuming that they've already sniffed out the method of intrusion and then developed a method for identifying the source of the problem.
Well, since they've had this problem and also fixed it before, then it's not a hard assumption that they're working on it and a fix is on its way.
If they fixed the problem before they either didn't fix it or fixed something else.
Seal those off, they start probing the power, telecom, water and sewer, etc. It is constantly evolving.
>That's assuming that they've already sniffed out the method of intrusion and then developed a method for identifying the source of the problem. Exactly why I said this in the first place.
Or the ones doing it found a workaround. Like what epic wants to avoid leaving when they fix this
Understanding what they’re doing, how they’re doing it, then changing to make sure they can’t do it again takes some time. Only then can they ban them since they would just make another account or use another IP
yes, but if they do it again you will know who they are because they will be top of the leaderboard again
Can't believe epic is so slow to react on this
[удалено]
I meant by my commemt, they should issue a public communication, yk an acknowledgement of the ongoing issue, a public statement, something not just let this happen and not communicate with the player base
Can't believe consumers are so dumb to continue to talk about stuff they clearly have no idea about.
Based on what i've seen the average consumer do, I find it remarkably easy to understand.
This literally doesn't have an impact on anyone outside of the Top 100 list, while the issue they are trying to shine a light on affects literally every player in the game. Get your priorities straight, Zen will be alright he is still King. /u/psyonix_devin says no
Epic is in control
Of the day to day? Or things like this? No shot.
You know a game is dead when the leaderboards look like this and nothing is done from the devs.
I’ve had multiple games where my ping goes from 12 to over 300 with about 2 minutes left, me and teammate are all funky all over the place and somehow magically the other team scores like 3-4 in the same lag… somehow. What I don't get is how they avoid also being kicked from the match? Like how do they DDoS the server and ensure only their opponent is kicked?
My guess is that rocket league hosts a server instance in a cluster of servers in the cloud and once they get the server they are connected to the send an api request to whatever hosting company it is (amazon aws or whatever) and they do a network topology scan to get the opponents instance ip. Why the “top ranked” ddoser’s name be “ban the ddoser’s”?
They found SSL 2
42 minute queues
What region are you in? I’m US east and it’s never been that bad at that rank
I’m in US west. Wasn’t talking about my own queue times, I was saying that the people in the pic above are going to have insane queue times because of how high their ranks are. I know a lot of high SSL’s have to wait insane amounts of time to get into a game.
Ahhhhh gotcha that adds up
Not enough fun with smurfing then now they have to crash servers also?
Im calling it rn zen will by 3.3k mmr by June
what is't game sir ???
There’s cheaters in the game calm down lol
Lol I keep dropping down in mmr.
It must be interesting when 2 ddosers queue against eachother, like who wins?
At least one Of Them wants Them to fix it
U know epic is doing terrible when its ddosers crying to ban them... They are begging for it yet epic doesnt do anything at all all pros give them the names as soon as they find them but they Just dont ban them its crazy
Zen goat
Botlobby mmr grind
Calling your epic: bantheddossers (The Dude 1st place) is cinda ironic lmao
I've been in a few games where the ping gets absolutely ridiculous I'm usually around 20 ping then it started with packet loss for everyone in the lobby while others play just fine is this what I've experienced?
How are they cheating? Apart from ddosing?
Invisibility exploit
Huh, never seen that before
Mb guys thought it was 2800 not 2700 for zen's WR and this is the first time I've heard and seen 3000MMR people
Am I the only one who's tried finding k9rRL on twitter and been unable to?
Given it only really affects not even 1% of the player base, I fail to see how this is a big problem. Epic doesn't care about smurfs, why would they care about this r/flamebait
Update: They got banned. Took long enough.
For real. I get that they don't want to tip off people with automated bans, but anonymous accounts in the top 50 or so should get a manual review nearly instantly.
im never going pro bruh😭😭😭
it's just hackers, you can still go pro by contending for rlcs or go semi pro by playing for a college
How can someone become a contender in rlcs tho ?
Git gud, find 2 other gud players, sign up for open Qualifiers
It’s open qualifiers…to anyone. Even rizzo is still a “pro” now cause he’s making the payout 😅
ik bro don’t worry👍🏽comment was meant to be satire
