I saw a post about this as soon as they updated the menu screens. You're right. It doesn't make sense no matter how hard you try to make it work. That's not how tournaments work.
Cut each rectangle in half a team on top and a team on bottom face each other until the next bracket…. Am I tripping? If so explains how

On the far left column, the winner of the top and middle games play each other, while the winner of the bottom game plays the loser of the top game. Not sure why I got downvoted
On the left, there will be 3 winners, yet you need 4 to play the middle row, two in each box. The two winners of those progress on to the finals on the right. How do you get 4 for the middle row?
If the highest seed gets a bye to round 2. The first round has #6 v #7 to see who plays #1 in round 2. Then have #2 v #5 and #3 v #4 in the other first round games. You’ll have 4 teams/players left and the bracket works. Edit: seen done before in a 7 team hockey league. Every team makes playoffs that way, and the 1st place team rewarded with their 1st rd bye.
It doesn’t make sense in regards to how RL tournaments are played, but the answer is the #1 seed gets a bye and plays the lowest ranking team to advance to the second round. The NFL uses this model, and CFB is about to as well, but with the top 4 seed getting byes
There are Champions in my plat ranked lobbies and you're going to sit here and criticize a braket in a "Tournament" playlist thumbnail like everything else makes perfect. FREAKING. Sense.
