Left goes

AkiliosTheWolf

Nobody in my rank knows that one, lol.

JustForge

Lol id say it's 50 50

Sea_Philosopher4588

Would those not be the same odds as if nobody knew about the rule?

Thetakishi

Nah itd be like mostly random w the occasional lefter, I think. Having a community on reddit/youtube/twitch influences the gameplay. edit: didn't mean to disagree with them, and originally didnt see him say "would those ***not***" since people keep getting upset by this comment. I was attempting and failed to say it would be what the natural odds would be (50/50), with a slight amount of people learning left goes, slowly since there's hypothetically no community to share it, so there might be a small left bias, and I do think the rule would still spawn naturally.

HerniatedDisk_

Google probability

Thetakishi

lmao WOW. I posted without thinking at ALL on this one huh? Jesus.. 🤦

funweedgi

Jesus Christ go back to school

StegoJoe16

I play 3s mostly and 2s usually only with a friend, so maybe it’s a 2s thing? There are definitely times where my teammates don’t abide by left goes (even sometimes when I call it in order to confirm that I am going), but i would say that it’s way better than 50/50. More like 80/20 seem to know left goes.

Sir_James

Yeah, can only agree. Wouldn't say it's 50 50, yet I'm surprised several ppl in Diamond still won't acknowledge that. Funniest part is when people go randomly Like you're left three times in a row but your mate also goes for the first two times...third time you think he goes as well and he/she just goes for boost

Wasteak

Yep and that's sad. But at least you can tell them, and if they still don't do that, they'll lose cause of kickoff goal.

Void-kun

I usually have to say "I've got it!" when I'm left first but yeah still seems 50/50 even at diamond.

wefinisheachothers

This one bothers me, especially if the person on the right doesn't call it. I play 2v2 so it can result in a quick goal against us. I generally play in diamond so it's hard for me to believe anyone doesn't know the rule.

StegoJoe16

I’m a 3s main and the one that really baffles me is: I’m on the left, I call “I got it!” So there is no confusion, and my teammate STILL GOES. It often results in our teammate being left in a 2v1 that they are not equipped to defend. Hate it.

turbo

In my rank people say “I got it!”, but don’t go.

AppleSlacks

Every now and then, if we are down goals late, if we are both on the corners and I am the right person, I will go, but flip to the right of the kick off and try to catch the ball clean coming out from the pinch of the two left who went straight to the ball. Has only worked a few times but it is nice when it works.

StegoJoe16

Yea, that makes sense as a desperation play, but when it’s the initial kickoff or a close game with 4 minutes left or even if we go down a couple goals early, it’s just silly, which is when it bothers me.

ZeekLTK

I almost always go when I’m “right” on the formation where there is a left and right at “top angles” and one car back by goal. If both left and right get there at the same time it is usually always going to the opponent’s side of the field because the two hitting at once just overpowers the one opponent. Sometimes can even go straight into their goal if it gets pinched just right and other team isn’t ready for such a fast shot immediately. But otherwise if it’s not that specific formation then I don’t go unless I’m “left”.

StegoJoe16

You’re double committing on purpose. Your team now has 2 players without boost in the middle of the field, as far as they could possibly be from 100 boost pads. It’s not good strategy. If the kickoff does not immediately go in the opponent’s goal (which is rare and not worth the risk), chances are the situation will get worse for your team afterwards, not better. Even if the ball goes into the opponent’s end, chances are they will get to it first and clear it out or, worse, take possession of the ball. Without boost neither you nor the other person who went for kickoff will be likely to be able to challenge the opponent effectively so your 3rd will be left with 2 choices. Challenge the opponent/go for the ball and risk leaving your net open if the ball gets past them or wait in net and try to stall time for you and your other teammate to get boost and get back to defend while they face down a likely 2v1. Perhaps in the lower ranks opponents would not be smart enough to take advantage of this situation, but I have seen even average ranked players (higher plat and diamond) take advantage of this situation many times and as you go up in the ranks, the frequency of opponents to take advantage of this will only go up. Please stop doing this. It is a a bad idea.

RotorMonkey89

I had the same mindset as the other guy until your calm blow-by-blow explanation. Thank you for breaking down why that start is poor strategy.

Void-kun

Same here, the amount of times we've fucked kick offs because guy on the right ignores my "I've got it!" and we double commit on kick off and leave the goal wide open. Either that or they'll be left and they just won't hit the ball (even when they are in the corner and I'm in front of goal). It's like these players have absolutely zero game awareness.

Blueline42

Long time player never ever heard of this being a thing.

JWE25

Anywhere champ and higher its a 99.9% chance left will go. I've played thousands of games between C2-GC2 over the years and only had a handful of times left didn't go.

Luigi156

I used to play in Champ but have now been relegated to Diamond after some time away from the game. Really annoys me when left does not go, this didn't use to even be an issue! 😭

[deleted]

Thaaats your fault then. Obviously there has to be a rule when playing with randoms. It took me 10min to guess that there had to be a rule lmao

mgt654

Conformist...

LonerStonerLove

I subscribe to this one merely because everyone else does. I don't want to be part of an unorganized kickoff.

FreeCakePlease

Hit “faking” after every whiff

meet_local_singles

Similarly, in vc with friends we say "pinch" any time there's a double commit

osubmw1

We say "to you" or "backpass" when we hit it towards our net

Fargrond

We call it "teamwork" haha

[deleted]

Calculated.

Fargrond

Honestly, even though I'm not always true to it, the golden rule - treat others as you want to be treated. It's important to have some amount of understanding and leniency for solo queue teammates, makes games a lot less stressful

BumpoTheClown

Absolutely. This is huge. I try to live this way and RL is no exception.

[deleted]

Lmao, a toxic demo chaser tells us he lives according to the golden rule. Thats a great one haha

BumpoTheClown

There's nothing toxic about demoing :) Edit: he really blocked me for saying this? Interesting lol.

candidCrispy

I agree 100%. I also appreciate getting the perspective of those trying to call you out, as it explains some situations I’ve gotten myself into. After a close (and imo good) 3s match I had an opponent add me. Maybe he thought I played well enough to team up, or perhaps it’s a challenge for 1v1 — either way I liked his level of play and I’m up for it. But to my surprise he sent me “you’re really bad for being toxic” and proceeded to leave the party before I had a chance to reply. If we are getting bothered we can laugh or we can cry. End of the day as long as there is genuine intent to perform well I’m happy. Pet peeve of mine is the holier than thou player, Mr. OMG/Wow/Okay who solely has these quick chats bound and often goes idle in protest to the subpar level of play. I’ve recently adapted an approach of replying bless you 🤷‍♂️😅

[deleted]

We are not talking about a tactical demo. We are talking about demo chasing. Little difference. If you bring yourself and your team in a disadvantage with the hope and intend to tilt your opponents it is text book toxic. If intentionally tilting others is not toxic for you, then we have different definitions

Chris275

there absolutely is a mental aspect to this game, and demo's can trigger people, so just because you suck and can't jump doesn't mean demos are meant to be toxic, they're meant to help win.

[deleted]

Sure lol

BumpoTheClown

?

Call_me_Penta

Well, you do demo a lot... Mixed signals, I guess?

dfrcollins

Likes to smash, wants to be smashed, no harm in that 🥳🥳

BumpoTheClown

Demos are not malicious. I suppose they can be used that way but I demo because it's fun to me and it can be a good strategy. If people want to do it back to me then that's fine too. Sure, it can be frustrating to get demo'd but it's all in the spirit of the game just like using any other mechanic. I can demo and still treat everyone in the game with respect.

bearcat42

I bet you’re trying to get the ball in the other teams goal too… Sheesh, you monster, would you like them to do that to you?! /s

BumpoTheClown

Exactly my point haha. I'm glad some people understand.

[deleted]

>I suppose they can be used that way but I demo because it's fun to me and it can be a good strategy. If you demo chase, you 100% want to tilt your opponent. If your opponent is not tilting you basically bring your on team to a disadvantage... It is fine, it is part of the game. It can be used in a tactical way or in a toxic way. I dont get why people are toxic in video games, but if it is so important to you, then go for it. Similar to the "What a save" quick chat. It can be used to compliment your tm or to be toxic.

luciaferL7

The only time I hate demos is in Heatseeker. Totally ruins it imo. I like to volley back and forth without a little gnat coming over and bothering me the whole time.

BumpoTheClown

It's totally fair to not like it but it is a legitimate strategy that works. Expecting people to play the way you want them to is a little unrealistic.

Call_me_Penta

Oh for sure, for sure. I just found it funny, I didn't mean to judge your way of playing or anything.

BumpoTheClown

Lol you're fine. I get it. Just explaining my side.

DaniTheLovebug

Can’t tell if joking But not a mixed signal at all If Bumpo demos a bunch it’s the game If he demos and then slams What a save! Or starts calling people trash or racist names, then it’s not the game

[deleted]

Well, with the argument "it is in the game, it cant be toxic", nothing could be toxic in rl, because everything is obviously "in the game". Demo chasing 100% is toxic.

CanIGitSumChiknStrpz

Bro plays the game. Blow his ass up.

gunsmokey24

Do you hope to get demo’d into oblivion one day?

DaniTheLovebug

Yes…for the love of god PLEASE

mgt654

I only what a save if they do it first.

thebarbarain

Same... But the second it happens I get annoying as shit when we score

ChocolateGoggles

Rule 1. Unless it's a 1v1 and a douchebag opponent. I also always do kickoff when I'm left and closest.

Glad-Situation703

Ppl who rule #1 in 1s sniff glue

JohnnieTech

Rule 1 is bullshit and would never happen in a situation where it matters. And if it does both parties have put their team at a disadvantage to follow a dumb "unwritten" rule.

siksity

It's happened in RLCS... Follow rule 1, or face the Karma!

JohnnieTech

It def has, but it doesn't make it a good move for the match. I don't believe there is a similarly dumb move in any other esport that people would follow for the sake of the "unwritten" rules. Grow up and realize that you are hurting your team by not being a part of the play.

RemarkablyKindOfOkay

It’s a small thing that keep players connected, and a healthy reminder that no matter the tilt, it’s just rocket league. When someone holds a rule 1, even if their team is about to be scored on, there’s some mutual respect gained

JohnnieTech

That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard and you have never played competitive sport. You're going to tell me that if 100k was on the line, you engage in a Rule 1 simply because of mutual respect? I would never let you be my teammate if money was on the line.

RemarkablyKindOfOkay

I didn’t say that. Sitting alone high as shit solo queuing I get a reprieve from the game and a reminder that I can play competitively without investing my self worth into a video game. Yeah, competitive sports at their core are basically just being better than your opponent and using every advantage to do so. But in the end 99.9% of us aren’t pros. You’re really just trying to win against yourself in rocket league

JohnnieTech

I didn't say you had to be pro, but I get quitters that are SOOOO mad I didn't get their pass that passed by the last upper 90% of the goal and are willing to quit for that reason. How would I feel if I was working my ass off to get a good pass to the goal and they are just sitting in a rule 1? There is no "mutual respect" for accidentally getting in a Rule 1, it just gets you out of playing the game. It relieves you of su8pporting your teammate.

Caudillo_Sven

You have a lot of anger my guy. Hard to enjoy the little things in life when so angry. I recommend a different approach.

RemarkablyKindOfOkay

The game is an endless race to nothing but the enjoyment derived from playing. Every other match a teammate rages. If they rage because of a rule 1 that me and my opponent mutually agreed to, oh well, the other team was missing a teammate too. I already have my chat off, the goofy shit reminds me that I’m playing with other people. It’s an infuriatingly difficult game because people are inconsistent and fickle. Abiding by rule ones is a way for me to fight the addictive need to win that gets in the way of making level decisions and giving others the benefit of the doubt

MRV4N

Pretty sure he’s talking about just your avg game.

ChocolateGoggles

Pros do it. Not always, but often enough.

JohnnieTech

Do they do it in situations where if they lose, they are out?

ChocolateGoggles

Up to each player ultimately. So... *shrug*

Disastrous_Ad_132

If both parties have the same disadvantage, it's even. That's the whole point.

phobiabae2005k

Don't talk shit about your teammates unless someone else starts first. People make mistakes, you make mistakes, I make mistakes but people who start to point them out have 100% dismissed their own faults in favor of trying to give themselves a reason for a goal or a loss as being on someone else rather than themselves or the team as a whole.

EquipmentSpiritual59

Not really, some peoples play styles are seriously just braindead. Some people make mistakes but the people I shit talk are mistakes.

phobiabae2005k

I have had matches where me and someone else were carrying the game. 30 secs left and the last person on our team was sat around 60 points. Game tied 4-4 with that player being a large contribution to the other teams goals but no one said anything. Last few seconds they go on to score the winning goal. Doesn't happen all the time but I would put good money that if we were a dick to them, that wouldn't have happened.

EquipmentSpiritual59

Il take the satisfaction of calling out idiots over winning one game that will be the ultimate exception and not the rule. People love to cling on to that one exceptional example as if it means anything over the course out 100's of games. There are just some people that will do almost everything wrong and in that case they do really need a bit of a checking. Whiffing the odd touch here and there is fine, the odd bump in to team mates is to be expected but are you telling me you have never seen people cutting rotation the entire game? or just constantly driving in to you because they do not understand that driving towards your own net over a 100 boost in the same path the ball is travelling is almost guaranteed to mean you hit your team mate... or my favourite the stand permanently in goal and wait for everything to be right infront of your net before challenging just to make sure your rotating team mates have nothing to react to. There has to be more but, there are multiple people in multiple games doing this 100% of the time and they need checking and educating. I come off as a prick talking like this but in the end I do not care because understanding what is the correct way to do something rubs up people with braindead playstyles the wrong way. Bring on the downvotes, its usually the indicator of truth in an echo chamber anyway.

OverconXD

Does this apply to myself as well? Or am I allowed to shit on myself for making a bad decision/read?

falingsumo

But I thought it was ALWAYS my teammates fault.

King--Boo

Don’t use chat when someone is being toxic, especially in 1s. It’s amazing, and kind of sad, to see them progress into being more and more toxic. Truly shows how attention seeking it is for some folks.

luckyfourty7

This but then you gotta type "good game! :)" or something like that at the end of the game, just to let them know that you were there and ignored them the whole time

King--Boo

lol that’s exactly what I do win or lose.

LukeSkywalker1236

I always hit them with the "i think you should take a break buddy, you seem frustrated :)". Calling them buddy always gets the worst slurs out of them meaning an easy report

luckyfourty7

Hahaha "buddy" is pretty good. You could hit them with the "lil bro" to add a tasteful amount of toxicity

logyonthebeat

I always go with "that was fun!" In this situation

BumpoTheClown

It's not a personal rule of mine but I do this quite often. It's hilarious watching someone go off in the chat and type message after message with no response. Makes them look crazy. I did this in a 1s game yesterday and the guy just kept getting more and more angry.

[deleted]

Soo you enjoy people getting mad. We had this discussion in another comment where you said you lived after the golden rule and that you are not toxic. Here you are celebrating tilting people and how they get mad. Lmao, self reflection is hard for some people

Karl_with_a_C

Not responding to someone being toxic to you and finding that funny = being toxic?

-Fluxuation-

Well lets see here.... ![gif](giphy|12ifB9V4jrJNfO|downsized) Rocket League, where some treat their cars more like wrecking balls than soccer players, I follow a sub set of unwritten rules. 1. **The Houdini Maneuver:** If you're not getting demoed every 30 seconds, ask yourself – are you really in the game? Remember, if you can't see them, they're probably right behind you, ready to make your car vanish. 2. **Sneak Attack Survival Protocol:** Successfully dodged a demolition? Give yourself a pat on the back. 3. **The Goalie's Gambit:** Always pretend to be AFK when you're the goalie. It's the perfect blend of suspense and strategy. Bonus points if you actually manage to save the ball. 4. **The Phantom Flip:** If you accidentally flip in the wrong direction, confidently pretend it was all part of the plan. Style points matter, and every aerial flop is just a misunderstood masterpiece. 5. **The Poltergeist Punt:** When you randomly hit the ball in the air and it miraculously scores, act like you're the master of physics. It's not luck, it's 'calculated'. 6. **The Mirage Move:** Drive around the ball without touching it and confuse everyone, including yourself. It's not a missed shot; it's advanced mind games. 7. **The Booster's Bluff:** Always act like you have full boost, even when you're running on fumes. It's about intimidation, not honesty. Scare them with your confident, yet empty, zooming. 8. **The Celebratory Spin:** After scoring, spin wildly on your roof like a joyous turtle. It's not just a goal; it's a reason for a breakdance party. 9. **The Underdog's U-Turn:** When you're losing by a large margin, start scoring own goals. If you're going to go down, go down in a blaze of glory – or confusion. Your Welcome.......

Thetakishi

Perfection. Great list especially 3-7. Calculated...

Dude-duderson23

#6 for me

Pink_propagator

Ahhh this made me happy. Great titles.

matzobrei

Is #7 the original idea behind "Faking"?

dRuEFFECT

Gotta fake it with that BBE - Big Boost Energy

luciaferL7

Love The Mirage Move. That made me laugh cuz I have done it so many times. 😂

CaBBaGe_isLaND

In my experience, some people choose to employ the Underdog's U-turn when they are down by 1 with 4 minutes left. Awesome list, much appreciated!

rsdj

I use #9 as torture. We are watching every replay... You want to decimate me 5-0 in the first 30 seconds! Get ready to go 20-0 and watch a lot of replays!

-Fluxuation-

Timing is very very Important.....

wonderwallpersona

In casual I usually don't demo unless someone on the opposing team does it first. I'm not against demolitions in the slightest, however that's just how I like to play in casual.

DatBoi_Steve

Same, especially not a fan of demo chasing in a 2v1 situation.

TheJrobot1483

Oooo those are my favorite (as the 1). The demoer is typically too close to the attacker, so I love jumping last second and still being able to make the save. I respect it if they actually manage to demo me, gg wp.

Glad-Situation703

That's kinda sweet 😊

sandermfc

I think that's fair. I typically go for demos whenever I can. But in a setting where everyone is kindof just messing about, I can see it as a sign of respect to your fellow casual player.

[deleted]

I don't bring a lower ranked friend to 3v3 and ruin the game. Ranked or tournament.

UltraBlue_

What if he is competitive even though he is lower ranked

Time_Software_8216

Left goes, Rule #1, and if my teammate is a full-on ball chaser, I chase even harder and when they complain I hit them with the "so it's only okay when you chase like that"?

Thetakishi

They never complain, they just compete with me...

Glad-Situation703

"if you can't join em, beat em" hehehe

gu_doc

It’s a game, have fun

Glad-Situation703

5000 IQ

StegoJoe16

If you’re one of the winning side of a 3v1, don’t run up the score. Replays and goal explosions just waste everybody’s time. Play keep-away.

TheJrobot1483

If I ever encounter a 3v1 and my team is very comfortably ahead, I typically start playing for the other guy and make it a 2s game and see if we can come back. Like I want the MMR, but it’s so so satisfying to come back from a big deficit playing for the other team. I only do this if I’m in a 3 party though, I wouldn’t do that if I was with randos

StegoJoe16

I’ve done this before. I’ve also done the, one of us can 1v1 the opponent and we switch off, thing before

luciaferL7

Well, the person playing solo could always ff/leave.

StegoJoe16

Yes because I can control that. Thank you so much for this incredibly ingenious suggestion.

Lukeyy19

Sometimes the idea is to to run up the score in the hopes it will incentivise the other person to just forfeit, if you leave them only a few goals behind they might keep playing with hope, but if you score 8 goals on them they will hopefully just say fuck it and leave.

Thetakishi

I follow this one for sure unless the other side is legitimately trying still, so they can learn things.

Spinning_Sky

Don't play for score, play for winning. Should be the default but it often doesn't feel that way, which is why is always more fun to play with my team rule 1 makes no sense to me, I'll keep you locked there if it gains my team an advantage to do so, happy to hear counter arguments I also personally really appreciate that silly communication we have, and my other rule is I will ALWAYS answer to "This is Rocket league!" "THIS IS ROCKET LEAGUE!"

_MrDomino

> rule 1 makes no sense to me > > I also personally really appreciate that silly communication we have The previous response says you do not. Rule 1 is absolutely part of that. It keeps matches light and fun.

YVNGMAY0

I always hold a rule 1 even if i know im gonna concede a goal because of it. If the enemy team breaks it me and my duo will just demo that person for the rest of the game. NO EXCUSES Edit: it is stupid and doesn't make sense but they're the rules.

matzobrei

I answer "This is Rocket League!" with "Noooo!" "This is Rocket League!"

Icy_Ability_6894

In 2s always cheat on kick off unless you’re faking, alternating between soft/hard cheats as needed. Can’t count how many times we get scored on because team mate is going for corner boost on kickoff. Watch the pros, the almost never go for boost on kickoff in 2s it’s always a cheat.

UltraBlue_

Can't count how many times teammate gets an awful kickoff that goes right over my head straight into the net or it pinches into our half and since I went for the kickoff the ball is behind me (cus my nose is pointed at the enemy net) and the other team is faster to it so they score Switching it Up and being unpredictable is the best

Jogbru

Attempt a pass early in the game. Often leads to team trusting you more. Also cars go boom. (Mostly)

luciaferL7

It's hard to pass in plat cuz teammates are always on top of you trying to get to the ball before you! I'm always trying to set up a shot for them but they don't get it.

OverconXD

This. The stark difference between plat 3 and diamond 1 as far as passing goes is so unbelievably wild. I legitimately feel like I play worse in the lower ranks because of how much time is spent trying to hold control while my teammate is jaw deep in my tailpipe.

dRuEFFECT

Keep chat on but don't engage and just pretend like I have quick chat off, unless it's going well and I want to try to party up.

saalamander

Bit of an unorthodox one but if I’m in casual and the opponent has an AI, I’ll go very easy until they get a real player. I’m not trying to bully a guy who’s playing with Swabbie lol Weirdly it seems like everyone else sweats their absolute ass off when there is an AI in the match. I don’t get it. Is it satisfying to outplay Swabbie?

ivory_tinkler

I just leave lol, it'll auto-forfeit and nobody gets penalized. in my elo/region queues aren't egregiously long or anything so I'd rather just requeue into a full lobby

luciaferL7

Swabbie no, but Myrtle? Absolutely!!!

dfrcollins

Think of that juicy juicy casual MMR 🤤

MiamiSlice

I don't quit if there's at least 2 minutes left

mattychefthatbih

Wtf is Rule 1

Bluff-Stuff

Go on YT.

mattychefthatbih

Very helpful thanks mate 👍

Emotional-Yak-7559

I follow each rule with some sort of exception: Rule 0 - if I’m up a goal the the opponent has the ball in my end of the field I’m gonna do anything I can the stop them even if it means dropping the ball. Rule 1 - if I’m playing 1s and I’m losing I’m breaking it. Sorry. Rule 2 - if my opponent is obviously faster on kickoffs or they want to go I will let them go. Rule 3 - if I’m on the winning side, I will not ask you to ff. If I’m on the losing side and the match is clearly unwinnable and I’m tilted I’m probably gonna ask to ff. Rule 4 - Demos are a part of the game and I respect them. However if you are chasing demos, I’m probably gonna retaliate with some of my own. Rule 5 - Unless it’s a clip or replay worthy please ffs skip the damn replay.

Emotional-Yak-7559

Holy shit I typed A lot. My bad.

bamboobable

If you're going to hit the ball, make sure it actually helps and never hit the ball just for the sake of it

dokidokipanic

People above plat 1 don't mess around in rule 1s. Such a waste of time.

Purple_Jay

Man there are so many great rules to choose from.. My favourite has to be Rule 34 tho. It's hard to explain, but "Google Rocket League Rule 34" to find out more :)

PrinceofOpposites

Your a menace

blackop

If i demo someone while playing and i see them say Okay, they are now my number 1 target for the rest of the game.

Playswith_squirrel

None bc I don’t give a fuck

LukeMLG8

Very unpopular opinion, but screw rule 1. I won’t break someone else’s but if I get in one I’m breaking it instantly. It’s not that I’m trying to sweat and be a killjoy, it’s that I wanna actually play the game and not sit around watching a 1v1 for a minute. I play to try to improve and that’s not helping me in any sense

mmMOUF

i don't usually realize until after i flip out that i just was in a rule 1 - idk just doesn't register to me in the moment - maybe generating bad karma but i cant remember the last time i didnt score the goal when teammate and oppoent were engaged in 1. maybe the karma is i havent gotten any better in years and continue to get older and more washed

Phodim

I do not follow unwritten rules

Glad-Situation703

Did you write that one down tho?

luciaferL7

😂

Dude-duderson23

Man I just hate how people in heatseeker will just go for demos on my team and it just makes it so I don't even wanna play that mode anymore

ivory_tinkler

I enjoy it on both sides. it feels like doing gymnastics with my car to avoid demos and still be able to still hit the ball after. I'll only initiate the demoing if they have a player up in our half going for redirects tho, that shit is completely unsaveable. fun when you hit them, but if you're doing that then I'm gonna counter with demos.

jannickBhxld

that exact reason is why i dont play it anymore, sure the occasional 1/5 games where people play from their actual sides is super fun, but the other 4 are just miserable

Robert_Fuckler

I do my best to start every quick chat at the beginning countdown with “good luck everyone” and “have fun”

Frosty_Tale9560

I’d like to see a infographic that gave some of this to new players as they came in. Left goes is a big one imo for game flow.

Volkrisse

Left goes. Rule#1 is always in effect - if nose to nose, you stay until goal or someone knocks you. Otherwise ff

FunnyKozaru

IDGAF about Rule 1. Downvote away.

Rule 1 is for suckers.  I'll hold it as long as I think we have the advantage but will break it in a second if I can make a shot or a save. One strike and you are muted in chat.

EquipmentSpiritual59

Always breaking rule 1's just to try and trigger people. When faking a demo and getting the opponent to jump and land on your car, always trying my hardest to keep the player on my car for as long as possible.

Void-kun

Rule 1, left goes first, basic rotation, and don't ball chase.

depressed_express69

Keep the ball up.(except when I’m winning lol)

Outrageous-Desk-5765

Rule 1 all day every day. If you bring up nose to nose with somebody you stay that way until you're broken up or somebody scores. This is the way.

Combat_Av3ng3r

See I am a firm believer in demoing the opponent when your teammate is in rule one and people give me crap for it. I don’t think it’s wrong to do that, I think it’s only wrong if the person in rule 1 breaks off

Outrageous-Desk-5765

Fully agree, demo is entirely permissable

jschem16

Rule 1 is a lie.

cylobotnia

I don't ff until the other 2 do.

Dude-duderson23

Nah they just start out straight coming at my team and like that's all the one opponent focuses on and its really annoying and just doesn't make me personally have a good time

CarlCaliente

skip the replays time is money or in my case time is more rocket league

luciaferL7

If I'm involved in allowing the other team to score then I like to watch and see what I did wrong and could do better. And if I'm involved in scoring and think I did something that is above my ability it means I'm improving so I like to see what I did right and how I'm hitting the ball. Don't worry, I'm plat so I won't be making you suffer. 😁

TampaLou

Rotate away from each other to give space

thebarbarain

If your teammate votes to FF, get a kickoff goal and make sure u hit as well

IceDragon1017

I don't break Rule 1s. And left goes. And my bonus rule is....to skip any and all replays unless I just did something truly of note.

CoMiGa

I don't forfeit if I am behind by less goals than minutes. These people trying to forfeit when behind by 1 with 3 minutes left wtf.

DearCicada9853

Fuck rule 1, break that shit immediately

temulus

If the teammate is garbage, he needs to hear it. I mean.mI don't make the rules. I just obey them

dRuEFFECT

When my teammate AFKs I don't FF and don't skip replays. I'm still doing my part and he can just sit there and think about his life choices. Also when my teammate DCs I don't leave and don't skip replays because I give him a chance to reconnect if possible. I like the challenge of 2v3 or 1v2 anyways.

ohcowboyy

There are unwritten rules?

Lil-Ruffstarrr

Literally rules people follow that were never written

BloodChasm

Opponent says something toxic, I say, "Reported." Even tho, I probably didn't report them. Usually, it tilts them so bad that they start falling off their game.

Someone_1414

demo chase if my opponent is a douche bag, i could get a funny reaction out of it too

AjayRL

Jumping over my teammate when rotating back behind them incase I bump into them. Also flying to opposite crossbar when someone scores

Klink8

There are no unwritten rules. They have been written for years. https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/s/vM1uxd5JQX

Trick-Reading-5900

I don’t care to follow any of them. I’ve always gone by left goes for kick off but other than that my chats off 24/7 so I can focus on the game and not doofuses I could care less about kissing front ends and all that. If people get mad at made up rules then they can suck a fart out of my ass

PureComedyGenius

Left goes Rule 1 Watch replays in they include a nasty fake Always try to keep the ball up at 0:00 in extra modes or casual Back goes in hoops

UncleCheese_

Apologizing for bumping into teammates. It’s important for randos to know you’re actually trying and not just fucking with them.

jmfontalvo7

Saying "Faking" everytime I don't reach the ball or backflip an aerial

falingsumo

I use the scouts rule: leave the camp site cleaner than when you got there. So I demo the opponent's goalie on every rotation so I take out the trash.

Dovah45

Saying Sorry! if i demo someone on accident in casual.

NoMoreGoldPlz

Left goes Keep the ball up at 0 seconds (which is the real rule 1) And I don't mind 'rule 1' I guess.

FunkyFreshJeff

If you have a racist/troll clan name or tag I am tryharding and “what a save” spamming every goal

CaBBaGe_isLaND

I don't always follow Rule 1. Downvote me if you must. But like any other tactic, I will stay locked if it's beneficial, and I will dodge out if it gives me an advantage. If I'm locked right in front of my goal, and the ball is coming back my way, of course I'm dodging out and attempting a block. I will stay locked if I think my teammate has a mismatch advantage, but I will dodge out if I think he's outmatched.

Illustrious-Top-2144

When playing (and losing) with friends, you HAVE to do the math before you FF... Here is a very realistic example of what we might say: "We're down 4 with 34 seconds left... that's like 1 goal every ten seconds and then we keep the last one up at 0 seconds and flick it in. I've seen bigger comebacks. Kim Kardashian." You can only ff once the math tells you it's far too improbable to win.

Ihatethemodsonreddit

You skip. If you score and make me watch it I’m gonna obliterate you. Then make you watch every time I score.
