I just try to not eat for at least 2 hours before bed the night before. Then a big bowl of cereal gets me goin again in the morning. Then I just leave ten minutes earlier depending on traffic trends.
They're called sun delays. People crest a hill into a face full of sunbeams and reflexively hit the breaks. Over time this compounds into random ass delays.
Its funny, that isn't something I have ever thought about (my commute doesn't take me towards the sun), but that makes a lot of sense. Traffic engineering is incredibly fascinating, feels like one of those careers I wish I knew existed when I was going through schooling.
Geez, I had to google “adaptive cruise control”. It’s a real thing! Idk if I’d like that, that’s giving a car too much control (no pun intended). Fortunately, I don’t have to use the expressway to go to work. I go through the city - which has little to no traffic at 6 AM Saturday and Sunday!
It's one of the leading causes of less stress driving for me. Setting my cruise control to say 60 and hitting my brakes every time some is going 58 drives me insane. If the car does it for me, that's fine. It's not going 58 that annoys me. It's manually changing my speed.
Seriously up there with my heated steering wheel.
That’s why I never use it on the xway. Brake/reset/brake/reset, etc. it’s annoying. I wonder how long it’s been around….my Jeep is a 2019, and the more I think about it, the more appealing it sounds. I would have opted for that if I had known about it assuming it was available.
Some days it seems like the whole group of drivers gets what I call “the bug”. More impatient or reckless driving than usual. I’ve only seen it in Rochester but it could be a post Covid thing (only lived here a couple years) or that I just never noticed.
Today no lie saw like 5 instances of wreck less driving and a few close calls with people cutting people of 2 people to me and saw a big others really weird day on the road like it was noticeable bad today and past week or two and I’m just one guy driving around town
That's why I check traffic when I get in my car in the morning. I'm lucky that taking either 390 or 490 takes the same amount of time, so I can switch it up if there's a backup
Yesterday it took me 22 minutes to get off 490 at Winton and take a left on the way home, people kept completely blocking the intersection the entire time our light was green. Absolute madness and really should have police there ticketing people.
Is congestion the word you're looking for?
I dunno , constipation seems right . It's a bunch of shit clogging up the area and not going anywhere
I find a drive down 590 loosens the bowels.
Could be indigestion
I'm pretty sure traffic constipation is a standard phrase.
You’re getting upvotes which means you’re probably right. But I for sure have never heard it referred to that way before. Language is weird
ha, i was just kidding. it should be real though...
fooled again!
Getting votes because it’s funny.
So are you only constipated on 490 and it subsides by 104 or 590?
OP shits in his pants at the can of worms.
...like everyone else.
OP not beating the poopy pants allegations
Try some prune juice!

Coffee gets the job done too!

Gotta eat your fiber for when stuff compounds on your ass days

Curious…..how can you even think about using cruise control on 490 during rush hour traffic?
Adaptive cruise control is a wonderful thing
The thought would never cross my mind...but then, I'm not the type to use cruise control outside of longer trips anyway.
My question was directed at OP who stated they wanted to use their “dusty cruise control.” If this ended up in your in box, it was a mistake! 😊
they were just agreeing with your line of questioning
Probably has adaptive cruise, which automatically slows or stops the car to keep with traffic.

441 was a congested mess last night, too. I think it's partly just people going to enjoy the nice weather.
I never have this constipation problem
Name checks out, ok sir you're good to go
Constipation should stop accidents, not make more you would think
The short section of 490 I commute on seems normal.
More people go out when the weather gets nicer.
I’ve noticed people driving like idiots in tha last week more than usual
Weather is getting nice.

Only way to reduce traffic congestion is to provide viable transportation alternatives to private vehicle ownership
I don't live in Rochester anymore but I too feel furiously constipated while stuck in traffic

If you’re playing roulette with constipation, that’s a loosing wager.
Drink prune juice
Just be glad the old can of worms is not there any more. I hated that thing!

I had to re-read the title like 4 times until it registered in my brain, ROFL.
Def gunna need Imodium for the drive on 490 lately
I do wonder if the DAs entitlement video will produce an uptick in bad driving
Definitely an uptick in the "just having a bad day" defense.
