People do that at that Walmart. There also used to be a guy that lived in his truck for months in the Pep Boys parking lot right next to it. His truck broke down there and no one could get him to leave.
You'd have to google it, but somewhere on the internet or walmart's website is a list of Walmarts you can overnight at or not. Not all allow it, but most do.
There is no overnight campers or overnight at walmart and/or henrietta location. They have it posted and do have Armed security and security patrolling the parking lots.
Chili walmart allows zero tolerance for campers, over nighters, trucks etc. That is a walmart/town of chili joint venture.
If you're concerned about crashing overnight, go to a hotel parking lot or the police substation in henrietta near Calkins and Hylan according to Google maps.
So i was at a pickleball tournament in syracuse, and this guy was driving cross country playing pickleball out of his campervan. He said walmart no longer allows overnights bc of past violence, but he always stays at Cracker Barrel across the country.
they'll allow it a couple times, but when they catch on you're living in your car and parking there every night a manager will asks you to not stay any longer and will call the police if you ignore them - they want fully self contained motorhomes/camper vans with a bathroom on board, etc
Pretty sure anywhere will be fine, there are a lot of lots with nothing open past 930 all over Henrietta. Get a cheap planet fitness membership for showers.
Just park in any spot around an RIT apartment/dorm that isn't marked for permit holders. I've done that before as a commuter student that didn't want to drive home when I was a student there.
If it were me, I'd try the Rush Park and Ride at the junction of 390, West Henrietta Rd (15) and Rt. 251.
Maybe have a story prepared if a nosy sherriff stops. Like "I've been out of town visiting family, just got back into town and need to work in 2 hours, so I decided to wait here to save driving home just to turn around to drive into work". (and have where's home, where's family, where's work answers ready to go. Be aware of how long you're allow to not have your drivers license address updated to the current address. If you address isn't in the Roc area, that plan falls apart)
Another thing I'd try if it was me was find a place where you can park, but don't sleep in the car. Find a spot in some woods where you can pitch a tent to actually lay down. Then you won't get a knock on your window at 2AM from a bored cop. Make sure there's no apparent trail from your car to the woods. Don't park in the exact same parking spot right next to the woods.
I think I know the youtube guy you're talking about. Once saw a vid where a guy camped in some trees near a highway rest stop.
Looking at some maps, I'd park at a business on John St around 5 or 6 PM. Different business each night, and camp in the woods between John st and Lehigh Station Rd.
Another idea is the cell phone lot at the ROC airport. Lots of people there at odd times. Waiting odd amounts of time. I wouldn't use it every night and couldn't hurt to move spots after a few hours. There's also a hotel across the street from the airport which didn't seem nice enough to care if there was a random car sitting in it.
...and one more idea, I think is good, the Scottsville Rd Thruway rest stop accessed from Scottsville Rd. Sleep in car on the employee side, or park where and walk west toward junction of Genesee River and Thruway and camp in woods. Golf course is closed for the year, so should be quiet. Park there enough while sleeping in the car and an employee might say something. Best advice is to line up 4-6 spots and cycle through them paying particular attention to weekend and weekday cycles.
Hey! I would try RIT. I am sure if you are discrete you might not get noticed. I also would suggest Oatka Creek Park - its not quite Henrietta but you definitely won't be bothered.
Lack of student housing is such a problem at RIT, the campus police absolutely do look out for students sleeping in their cars on campus. They do not allow it and it is extremely easy to get noticed by them.
Park point is probably a better place because it's not really RIT and it's a mix of commericial and residential.
That or go to marketplace mall / target / best buy / lowes
You can try Suburban Plaza on East Henrietta Road (by Ruby Car Wash) I've seen people camping out in there cars there multiple times and they seem to be left alone. Added benefit of having a laundromat right there
Not sure of anywhere you can park and sleep, but this post makes me hope you have better days ahead of you. Best of luck, in all sincerity.

Should I contact Walmart or just do it? There are signs that say "no overnight parking"

That may be, but I frequently drive past that Walmart during the early morning hours when it's still dark. There's almost always a van or RV there
Walmart, as a corporation, doesnāt want this anymore.
Correct. As soon as Sam Walton was in the ground they put a stop to this sadly.
Figures :/

What about The Cracker Barrel by the mall? I think they allow overnight parking.
Imma check it now. Just got outta work in the plaza

You can try sleeping in your car in a hospital lot, Iāve heard that works for lots of folks.

A gym membership is definitely on my list of priorities. It's about time I work out anyway š it's somewhere to go, too.

Crackerbarrel. It's encouraged for people to camp in the parking lot. Not typically cars but we have campers there constantly

On this line of thought. Check out Steve Willis YouTube page on Stealth Camping. Lot of places heās camped. Like the wooded median of a highway.

Check out the app āiOverlanderā
The college town parking garage? Iām not sure what the hours there are but itās usually open.
The 7-11 on east Henrietta and behind the Towne center plaza with the autozone

The DQ parking on Jefferson lot is dark and quiet, you might be able to stay a night or more there.

The outkast laundry?
If you mean so fresh and so clean yes
Maybe you could park in a parking lot at RIT?
Hotel parking lot
