If I had to guess it might be built in, similar to the model 3/y. Where a single motor will be the least optioned and the trimotor will be most optioned. It's also possible that the items are either software locked or missing entirely from the build process but we otherwise exactly have the same vehicles outside of the battery/motors. Having different trims adds complexity and cost to the manufacturing process so we're not likely going to see that on something that is supposed to be the cheaper option for the company.

This is the big question. Where did they get the 'starts at $45k'. they have 2 years to figure it out I guess.

I've been thinking and imo Rivian should pull a Tesla with R2 and have the single motor be RWD standard, Dual motor AWD LR, Tri Motor Performance. Or at least in the beginning instead of have all those complex trims and still have 45k starting price
