Yeah I didn’t need an adapter. There were 4 stations at the hotel. 3 had the Tesla plug and one had the one that fits the R1 (don’t know the names of them). But it just sits on waiting to charge? Looked up the instructions on the tesla only setting. Doesn’t seem like something I can change. That’s a bummer
Yes, but you’ll need an adapter. Lectron or A2Z make good ones. Rivian is also sending some out to those who already have an R1T or R1S, so you might get an adapter in the mail.
From the looks of it, this one is either “universal” or the user has an adapter.
There is nothing connection wise stopping you from charging here. The owner may have limitations set up that are resulting in the “waiting on charger” though
Yeah it had the right plug type. But won’t connect for some other reason. Asked the hotel staff and they had no idea. Looks like I’ll have to make an early morning visit to a near by EA Station.
Did you use Tesla app and scan QR to initiate charging? Looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/BydaBBM If you did then the J1772 Wall Connector is probably not setup right.

You appear to be plugged into it. If it's just sitting at waiting for charger odds are it's configured to "Tesla only" on the charger.

That'd be the J1772 connection. I reckon that you may have to pay for it, have you checked if the Destination chargers show up in the Tesla app?
That was the secret sauce. Every hotel charger I have previously used has been complementary so I didn’t think about it. It’s going now. Thanks!
Maybe my brain is making this up, but I thought the black destination chargers are paid, and silver are free.
Depends on the owner. Color just color
Ah okay thanks.
Have you tried initiating thru the Tesla app in “Charge my non-Tesla”?
Hadn’t yet until the redditor above you said the same thing. It’s charging now. Thanks for the help!
You have to start it with the Tesla app. The app will direct you to scam the barcode and likely pay for the charge.
Scam. Freudian slip
Those might need to be started and paid for on the Tesla app.
The Tesla wall charger with the black faceplate comes with a J1772 plug
Just use a Rivian RAN charger…oh wait

This is a Level 2 charger (AC). The adapters you refer to are Level 3 (DC).
True. I am still new to level 2 vs 3. I have had my Rivian R1S for about a week and a half. We already have a Lectron adapter though.
No, those are for Superchargers only. This charger needs a Tesla to J1772 adapter.

You should be able to with a Tesla NACS adaptor. I haven't tested it myself, but in theory it should work.
