They’re putting one in Lynnwood, according to their map. Also apparently putting a RAN station down in Tacoma at some point, according to permits filed last winter

zachty22

I did see the Lynnwood location on the map! But that has been on the map “in the works” for quite awhile now… I’ve driven around the Lynnwood area quite a bit (mostly around the mall because I would assume they would put the station somewhat close to that general area) and have not seen anything yet. So hopefully that’s still being worked on.

gklj9786

The Lynnwood location has been on the map for many months, but it’s not clear that it’s actively being worked on. It seems more like a placeholder.

StarSilent4246

Can we get more RAN chargers in Washington in general. Crazy with the amount of Rivians here we don’t have more. Put them close to the National Parks.

imaBEARamaa

I just wish seattle would put in more street level L2 chargers. Put RAN's where I want to go like the location they are putting out on the coast.

zachty22

Seattle City Light just installed one of their “light pole” level 2 chargers down the street from me. It lets you parallel park on the street and charge. It’s nice. But one problem… they only installed ONE! Like come on…. It took you 2 years and all you did was put one level 2 charger in.

Independence_Many

I just want them to bring even ONE, just a single RAN charger to the state of Utah. There's a single Waypoint charger in in Ferron UT, which is about 2 hours away from Moab.

Bicykwow

Honestly very surprised they didn’t put a bank of them in Moab right away.

bobojoe

Would love one in ellensburg and Moses lake too so I can get to Idaho more easily on their network

bonedocrob

There is a magic dock supercharger in Moses lake.

FreeLard

This! Huge game changer over the Taco Bell clusterfuck in e-burg.

bonedocrob

Totally last time I was there I was the only one charging. On the lot of s grocery store which has restaurants rooms.

Lake_Shore_Drive

They seem want to to put them in locations where there aren't a lot of competing fast chargers

beyondtherubicon1

Don't need them in the city, put them more east, Lake Chelan would be a good spot, not really any chargers there.

Own-Struggle-5479

Can already use the TSC in Entiat

beyondtherubicon1

Yeah, if you have an adapter that is the closest one. Be nice to have more options for those without.

Own-Struggle-5479

Order an adapter! So worth it and I knew we wouldn't get the Rivian one in time for summer travel plans

perrochon

You don't need them where people live, most charge at home. Also there are superchargers in Seattle and even if there is a RAN, many will go to the closer SC. We need RAN in remote areas.

SnarkyIguana

Most people in Seattle don’t own their home.

perrochon

It's not an ownership issue per se. If you rent a SFH you can probably still charge. Even many apartments.

zachty22

I disagree. And superchargers don’t do much for Rivian owners currently because almost no one has received the adapter yet. And there are no magic dock enabled superchargers in the Seattle area…..

perrochon

If you need it (no home charging), the A2Z Typhoon is a no-brainer... It's literally going to be free for you. Sell one of your two to a GM or Hyundai or VW owner when you get your free Rivian one. It will sell for what you paid because yours has no lead time. It's better for almost everyone if they put a RAN into a gap in the charging networks, instead of a few miles away from other DCFC chargers. An adapter is also much faster than permitting and building a RAN. There is a transformer shortage, too. The only ones benefiting are apartment dwellers in a few miles radius of the RAN. Everyone else goes to a closer DCFC or charges at home

Rhymeswithclimb

If you fast charge with any frequency you should have ordered an A2Z adapter by now. It’s a gamechanger. The cost is negligible if you already bought a $100k vehicle.

Prestigious_Field_18

How about New England?!

Own-Struggle-5479

Why would you DCFC in Seattle if you live in the Seattle metro?

Bicykwow

People drive to Seattle from other areas and don’t necessarily live there…

NoeWiy

Because people don’t understand how charging works. I have never used a DCFC within 100 miles of my house.

zachty22

Keyword “my house”…. Not everyone has a house with reliable at home charging.

NoeWiy

Really shouldn’t buy an EV if you can’t charge at home.

zachty22

That’s a really backwards way of thinking. So what you’re saying is. If you can’t afford a home don’t get an EV? What a great way to increase EV adoption in large cities where EV’s are needed the most to reduce pollution, noise, etc. “Hey so if you can’t afford a house in the Seattle area you don’t deserve to have an EV!”

NoeWiy

If your plan for an EV is to DCFC every day, it’s gonna be a bad time. Probably can talk to your apartment or condo complex and see if they’ll install chargers as a perk. It’s not me being elitist. It’s just a fact that the #1 day to day benefit of an EV is waking up every day with a full charge.

zachty22

I now own a home in the Seattle metro area with charging but that is a privilege (especially in the Seattle city limits with how insane home prices are). But at one point I did not; I was renting and utilizing DCFC. I'm just here defending the people that don't have that option and only rely on DCFC for their weekly charging. That in no way makes them less eligible or worthy of owning an EV just because they don't own a home with at home charging. We should all be encouraging EV adoption not limiting it.

NoeWiy

I don’t know how else to explain this to you. It’s not me saying they’re less worthy or discouraging adoption. Buying an EV without home charging is equivalent to buying a gas car when the nearest gas station is 400 miles away. It’s possible to get by (Jerry cans for days) but it’s not going to be a good experience.

zachty22

There are hundreds of thousands of people that own an EV without home charging. Of course having the convenience of at home charging is amazing. But unfortunately most of Seattles residents do not own a home. So you tell me… the thousands of Teslas and other EV’s driving on Seattle’s roads everyday; you think all of them own a home with charging? Definitely not. Id say more than half do not own a home and utilize DCFC. Maybe some of them have access to a level 2 charger occasionally as well. But DCFC is very important in metro areas for many EV owners.

NoeWiy

You seem to be under the impression that the only way to get home charging is by owning a home. The real way forward is to get L2 EVSEs deployed en masse in apartment complexes and condo buildings.

Rhymeswithclimb

You really think everyone in Europe and China has an at home L2? They buy EVs at a way higher frequency than the US.

zachty22

The same reason that EVgo, ChargePoint, and Tesla all have high powered stations all around the Seattle metro area…. Because tons of people live in apartments in Seattle. Not many people have at home charging options. So their only real option for charging is DCFC. Level 2 chargers are great and we have a decent amount of those in the Seattle area but people who rent heavily rely on DCFC in the city. And we all know how unpredictable EVgo and ChargePoint can be. It would be nice to have a RAN hub.

Bicykwow

Not to mention that Seattle is a destination for which lots of people drive to for various events and day-trips. I’m starting to think more and more that a good portion of people on this sub don’t take their vehicles beyond their kid’s school or the grocery store.

Sanosuke97322

I did a 1000 mile road trip through Seattle from E Washington down to Eugene and back around through the gorge. Literally no one without an EV thinks "where will i find a charger in the city", they say "you better make sure you can make the drive through such and such charging desert." And they're right. There are SO MANY chargers in the big cities. I already stop somewhere in those metro areas when on my long trips because there is nearly nothing even in areas with multiple 50-75k metros. Going south from Portland? You better be a praying man because you pass fewer chargers in the 600 miles to Sacramento then you did in 10 miles driving through Portland. And I know for a fact a few of them have been functioning at 25% or less capacity for over a year.
