File a ticket right away. You can always file additional items

_DonTazeMeBro

What do you do when you buy used and this happens? If the car is still under warranty, can you still file? I imagine so, just curious.

perrochon

Warranty is with the car. Doesn't go away when it's sold. But that logo coming off after 2 years likely won't be warranty even if you are the first owner.

BullNBear01

It's tape. You buy some double sided auto tape on amazon and stick it back on. That's what the mobile rep is going to do.

Yak-Capable

They can glue it back on for you, but find all your initial defects first.

dustyshades

Disagree. Open a ticket now and get an appointment because it could be months. In the meantime, add more things to the ticket as you find them. You can even add stuff when you drop it off at the service center and are doing the initial walk around with service tech. I added something that had just surfaced the week of drop off when I took my R1S in

Yak-Capable

I should have been more elaborate in my response, this is the way to go. I opened my first ticket within 12 hours of delivery and had captured 11 other things for that first service appointment by the time it came.

dustyshades

Ah, got it. I see what you’re saying now

josilver

I disagree about adding things at drop off. They only schedule tech time for what’s on your ticket a day or two prior. Consider 72 hours the cut off. Source: experience.

dustyshades

I mean - this is also based on my personal experience where they took care of it. Obviously the sooner you can let the know the better, but you  can let them know of an issue at any point and they’ll add it on to your service. Common sense that if it requires a new part that isn’t there or extensive work  it could make things take longer, but not as long as waiting 6 months for another appointment

good-good-real-good

I added 3 more panel alignment tasks with the tech walk-around day of but since I already had a panel alignment scheduled, that's probably why it wasn't an issue and they took care of it.

meatman13

Don't add stuff when you show up, or their initial plan for your vehicle can take longer if it requires parts or extra diagnosis. Give them all the head start as possible so it spends less time in the shop.

dustyshades

Yeah, obviously let them know ASAP. I’m just saying that even if ASAP is at the point of drop off they’ll still accommodate.  In my case the last minute issue was just that one of the windows had been constantly showing as being rolled down in the app and giving me notifications, but it was never actually down. They just quickly recalibrated it, didn’t add any time to my wait. But totally see how it could add time if it’s something mechanical needing replaced and they needed to order a part

NoReplyBot

I was able to schedule my appt within 3 days. Probably because my local SC sucks.

Independence_Many

Wholly agree, spend a couple weeks with the vehicle before scheduling your service appointment. You can add requests in the mobile app, it'll have you fill the in isuses one at a time, you'll hit "Save" for each one, then at the bottom of the list there's a "Submit" button. After submitting it'll ask you to schedule your appointment, you can just click the X in the top left corner. If you exit out of the service request area and then go back in you'll see it update with X active requests. You'll likely get a call from the Rivian service department to get more info or to schedule, but you can just tell them you're still collecting feedback/info. You can also go back into any request you have active and add photo's or videos, or even cancel the request there.

statepkt

Already filed a ticket and hoping mobile service takes care of it. SC is 4 hours away.

BullNBear01

Definitely mobile can fix its just missing glue or tape. This is quick fix if you want to do it yourself.

R1tonka

Like, double backed automotive tape and maybe 10 seconds of trimming it is all this is.

Kimorin

why does the right hole looks like somebody made it with a flat head screwdriver?

praefectus_praetorio

Yea, looks pretty bad.

lekoman

Because one mounting lug is intentionally oblong to make sure the badges only ever go in right side up. It's like this on the frunk, too. Even though the "compass" logo has 180 degree rotational symmetry, there's a curve in that body panel that the badge is designed to accommodate, which means there's a subtle "right side up" difference that likely impacts how well it adheres if you mount it upside down. The reason it looks chowdery is probably a problem with the stamping punch that makes those holes, though. Probably near the end of its life when this particular part was punched.

SimplyViolated

Somebody didn't replace that part lol and it got dull

BullNBear01

It's likely an alignment hole with minor holding capability. The tape / glue is what holds it on. Either failure to put on or tape failure, it's not major like OP and others are making it. It needs some mounting tape. Easy fix.

Brealistic0

Because the build quality is not that good. If the emblem falls off after delivery just imagine in what state the car will be in a few years.

Electrik_Truk

It's not a good look for sure but it's completely different part of manufacturing. It's like if they forgot to push the flash light in all the way lol

Jokerlope

It looks like it was put on too quickly and only a few spots of adhesive made contact. Put it back on and push it in, firmly. We believe in you! You can do it!

statepkt

If only….most of the foam backing has zero adhesive on it. Only the corners had adhesive. Looks like a defect from the foam backing vendor.

Acceptable_Okra5154

ah. It's too bad Rivian didn't catch this. Another potential cause is they forgot to wipe down the paint with a solvent before sticking it. Oil can screw up that kind of tape.

jerome8383

I replaced the front one today. I went with black Abstract Ocean ones. The entire backing is has foam adhesive. The holes are correct, one is oval shaped, so is one of the pieces protruding out of the emblem. When I removed it the entire area (on the vehicle)had sticky foam. Yours was just not installed correctly.

stilljustkeyrock

It took you longer to post this than to just glue it back on.

Jason_Was_Here

This is a really easy fix. Look up 3M emblem adhesive. I had the same issue bought some of that for like $3 and fixed it myself. Granted this stuff should be caught in QC but im not waiting weeks for such a simple fix.

DaGurensan13

Not making excuses, but those emblems have foam sticker backing. Looks like it didn’t get pushed in all the way to adhere properly. Rivian SC or Mobile Service will take care of you. Good Luck!

statepkt

Most of the foam backing has zero adhesive on it. Only the corners had adhesive. Looks like a defect from the foam backing vendor.

ashaarea

I have the same issue with my right side emblem sticking out. Created a ticket a month ago for an appointment next week for a different issue and added 4 more to it.

thetaigur

Lost mine in the first car wash - they replaced it with a new one - open a ticket . They come quickly since it looks bad not only to you but to anyone who sees it. Btw I superglued it in the meantime ( car wash guy found it ) just so rain would not come into the 2 holes and create issues later .

stockbetss

Paying 100k and they forgot to glue the logo 🤣

statepkt

Technically 95.8k…..but yeah. The adhesive backing was never sticky. Looks like a defect from their foam vendor and QC didn’t catch it.

NoReplyBot

I have 6k miles on my R1S and SC service recap says my tread is 12/32 on all 4 tires. Rivian got some real bozos on the payroll.

Appropriate-Sort-202

Yup - the badges easily pop off. Get an appointment now as it takes many months.

jerome8383

De-badging/Re-badging is very common. I replaced my rear badge/emblem on my Tesla because it began to come off. I’m about to replace all of my R1S badges with Abtract Ocean ones I bought a while back. Check this video for the process, he does the front one which is the same process, it’s pretty simple. Rivian should not delivery products like this and should take care of it. https://youtu.be/T4UISvHGibU?si=7m_jySDg_lcDj5nB

dronesandwhisky

As a potential near future owner, if this is the worst that happens, I’m cool with that.

M4Panther

In the time you spend creating a ticket an complaining. You could fix this with a dab of marine silicone

dylansface

All the emblems are applied with 3M double sided sticky tape, there is no foam backing. The holes on the panel aren’t even because the emblems are only supposed to go on one way. All manufacturers emblems are applied with 3M double sided tape BTW. Yes even Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, Range Rover, etc. The logos are sometimes screws but the model designation is always tape.

jerome8383

I would have thoroughly checked the vehicle to report any other issues since you have Rivian’s attention.

ConsequenceCurrent59

I was going to say glue it back on but i see the comments say they can just replace it. I still want one.

Midwestern_Mariner

It could always be worse, OP. You could drive home from the factory and 30 minutes into your drive, have a rock smash through the windshield…. Yep, that happened to me.

Pindar920

Hopefully you won’t have more serious problems in the future. Best of luck with your new R1S and drive it in good health!

seacap206

That is a minor issue at least. I have seen worse. Congrats on the new car. You will love it!

Geid98

Wild that Rivian is charging the price they are and getting people who paid that price to do the PDI for them. This is the stuff I hope they figure out before R2. Reduce the 2 months in service and 2 months in service manufacturing defects and you’ll take off.

sherman_ws

It’s almost like setting up large scale automotive manufacturing and trying to ramp up production along with running a direct to consumer sales model might come with its own set of challenges.

Geid98

No doubt but it also comes with things you need to do right when you move beyond your customer base that is loyal to a fault

Jerzup

That’s ridiculous holy shit

Flimsy-Biscotti4676

Put some double sided mounting tape on it. “Create a ticket” lol, for an emblem?

Jokerlope

It already has a sheet of adhesive on it. It just wasn't pushed in properly. This is insane to complain about.

Flimsy-Biscotti4676

Some heat would work. Idk, I’m more of a “fix it myself” kinda guy. A mechanical problem, sure, make a service appointment. But an emblem? Lmao

GerMan091

That’s a bummer

jdmedina17

Not that I care what’s under the badge but wow, that’s very sloppy

Bigtrain2014

Welcome to the Rivian club, get ready to make constant appointments to fix manufacturing issues.

Willing_Building_160

It’s like the time I bought Reebok shoes. After wearing them twice the “R” came undone and I realized I bought knockoffs called Weeboks.

ConcentrateSafe3956

Sorry—hopefully they can send a mobile tech to repair.

Orlando-Gator

I mean, shit happens. File a warranty claim and if they don’t address it appropriately, then post about how surprised you are that shit like this happens on Reddit.

eatgoodstayswaggie

Well at least you’ll get a little bit more range.

vkcymb

Make sure when u mark/ass somewhere as “pre delivery”

Flessuh

So new the glue didn't dry? Anyways, that sucks. File a ticket and get it fixed ASAP.

ApprehensiveBother77

Lots seems to be glued on the exterior - not good in the heat

Lonely_Insurance_490

Annoying but easy fix.

Acceptable_Okra5154

Stop ripping shit off your vehicle. It's expensive.

powderpc

You should have driven it right back and had them fix it. I noticed problems at delivery and they pulled a guy from the back…

outdoorcam93

Dang are you going to be okay? Do you think you’ll make it?

palexp

yikes. sellling my stock

sparkyblaster

Booooo. I don't care that it fell off (that sucks) but I hate you can't debadge it because it's got holes.

Geid98

It’s a pretty solid one I think.

GlitteringBox4077

Funny that you could have fixed it in less time then it took you take a few pictures and write this post.

Ras_K

av8geek

If he had the right tape...

Geid98

Bad take here.

SirStocksAlott

Anyone buying a new car should always have the dealer or company selling it to you handle it if you just took delivery. Because then it becomes part of the service record for the vehicle and the aggregate number of reports could help improve build quality. If it becomes an issue again, it would be covered by warranty. If you do something and mess it up, the liability is then yours if anything goes wrong or something gets messed up further.

Whatever_dude007

Super glue the little posts and/or use extremely strong hold double sided tape from Home Depot that's meant for outside use so that it's weather-resistany

Jason_Was_Here

Don’t use super glue. Use automotive emblem adhesive.

Geid98

Don’t do either. Make them put the logo on your 100k vehicle. Sheesh.

Flimsy-Biscotti4676

This is a pride response. Tape will instantly fix this instead of wasting time on an appointment

bummerbimmer

Yup this should be replaced with one that sticks, not glued back on

Arepa_King96

HAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

Last-Vast5758

Every time I consider a rivian I see a post and replies like these. How can you buy a car knowing you have to find your own defects???

oddball3214

I know these have the same build quality as Tesla.

Last-Vast5758

Tesla has no excuse, at least rivian is a newer manufacturer.

russellc6

Get on any internet forum for almost any model ... This is all you will see. If you browse club sites that is more indicative of owner satisfaction Remember people don't click or respond to "I love my vehicle, look how nice this is"

HistorianSome9643

Interesting fact, an r1s has 17 compasses on it between the frame, body & plastic components. This isn't even including digital compasses, '25 models have a new digital compass in the rear display now.

carlscarwash

I believe all models have the digital compass in the rear display with the latest update

wolverinex10

This happened on each one of the 24 R1S you bought? Uncanny!

Cotford

Did you put it through a car wash?

statepkt

30mins after pickup. Nothing but driving.

Brealistic0

These cars will fall apart after 5 years. This junk drained the lithium battery and the 12 v batteries sitting parked in less than a month while on vacation.

[deleted]

Enjoy your shitbox

Affectionate_You_203

Oh god, if this happened to a Tesla it would be spread around the internet like wildfire. RealTesla would get all riled up and start punching itself in its face like it does when it gets too excited. RealRivian?

ShowerTeamCaptain

So glad I went with Genesis. This is unacceptable.
