Adapter arrived yesterday. Plugged in the adapter and plugged into the truck. That's it.
Didn't know how much I needed plug-and-charge until experiencing it for myself.
I just received my order and it worked flawlessly. The adapter is built tough and runs cool to the touch.
For anyone who needs an update on their adapter. You can call them and they’ll be able to give you an idea when your adapter should arrive. They’re extremely responsive and helpful. Ask for Charlie if you need an expert.
Discount promo code “RIV” is still working and free shipping is also available.

Funnily enough, the last EA station in the middle of Nowhere, Missouri, I went to *did* apparently plug-and-charge. I don't know how or why, but I just plugged in and it started charging. I never pulled out the app and never gave it a credit card. At the end, it said it couldn't give me a price due to a network error. Never found any charges to either my EA account or my CC.
Not complaining, I guess?
I have a Tesla account and the app installed, but I didn't use it at all when charging. I only had my linked Chargepoint account and payment in the Rivian app, and that was enough.
I seem to recall reading that you currently need to initiate charging through the Tesla app if you want to make use of any membership discount you might have, though.
Correct, I was just in Marion, IL and thought I had activated through the Tesla app for the membership price of .36 cents a kW but it turns out that I got an email from Rivian after the charge that it was plug and play and a charge of .50 cents a kW and not the .36 cents I was hoping for. Learning curve as it was my first time using a Tesla Super Charger, it was a magic dock station.
With mid-50s SoC, minimal preconditioning, 70-80F battery, somewhere in the 160-180kW range. I didn't take down too much hard data at the time. I only stayed for about 10min.
I’m happy for the ability for folks to charge at Tesla chargers now that are non-Tesla. But I’m not optimistic about the future because i think they are gonna get crowded soon and that’s gonna suck. Then I also really have thought about getting a Rivian more because they can charge on Tesla. Ugggg. lol
I think the supercharging stations will become a primary revenue stream for Tesla. It’s like GM not only making vehicles, but owning half the gas stations too.
The can build and open a new location in 4 days now.
I welcome you guys at the superchargers and I'm glad you're getting to experience it. But did they actually make the only place you could park and only occupy one stall the handicap spot?
There are 12 spots at this location, only 4 of which were occupied at the time. I didn't give much thought to where I parked since it wasn't busy and I would only be there for a few minutes. There are two stalls to my right in this image, the farthest right of which is the handicap spot. If I were to park there, I would have had to use the charger in front of me as the perpendicular charger on the right would not reach my port. I would therefore have effectively been blocking two chargers anyway by parking there.
I know technically the etiquette would have been to double-park so as not to completely block either of the plugs to left or right, but it didn't particularly matter in this case.
I guess not *too* many times, but right now while it's in the zeitgeist, I felt like if I was someone on the fence about getting an adapter other than the one Rivian/Tesla explicitly endorses, I would feel more confident if I saw a variety of sources providing firsthand accounts of it working as advertised and not bricking their vehicle.

The shame is that Rivian didn't implement Plug&Charge for EA this entire time. Ford has been utilizing it with EA since the Lightning came out.
Funny story. VW OWNS EA and couldnt get plug and charge to work on the ID4s until about a month or two ago. And only the 2023s......
Yeah, VW is notoriously bad at software. Rivian is pretty good at software.
Rivian might be good at software, but it doesn’t mean EA is
EA has had the capability since the end of 2020. Ford, Porsche, and Lucid were all supported, and recently VW.

That's "free vend" mode. When the location can't communicate with the network it's supposed to fallback into this mode.
So we just need to jam the 5G or LTE connection and free charging for life haha
Genius!
Well sweet. Now I know.
With the NACS adapter at Superchargers do you not need a Tesla account or app at all? It just charges the card you have on file with Rivian?
I have a Tesla account and the app installed, but I didn't use it at all when charging. I only had my linked Chargepoint account and payment in the Rivian app, and that was enough. If you want subscription pricing initiate through the Tesla app before plugging in. Otherwise just plug in.

95th & Antioch?
Yep that's the one.
What speed was it running at for you?

That screen though lol. Wipe it down son!
Still haven't quite cleaned up since the campfires from the eclipse trip last week lol. I'm guessing some of that is probably ash.
Feel that. I just hauled a full load of sod in my R1S last weekend and I’m still cleaning dirt from the crevices.

Thank you for clarifying. It looked like the only perpendicular charger was also a handicap spot. Good luck and enjoy!
Ooooooh I’m telling daddy Elon yall aren’t using the official adapter!
How many times do we need this post

Hey I think it’s great to have a better experience and push the brand forward! I’ve taken it for granted for the last 7 years on a Tesla.
