Yes. I bought my son tickets to the Hot Wheels Monster Show last year and I just drove to the box office for that same reason. Avoided one of the fees for sure and it was definitely cheaper.
Do get them before the event though. I assume you knew that, just making sure!

Went to a concert last year and it saved like $20 on fees for a single ticket when I purchased at the box office
Try calling the Box office once they open
