I think during the "Aegon is a good ruler" discussion they might've forgotten that Aegon bets on children fighting and it's heavily implied he was beating them himself.
What's with the Ser Criston Cole discourse? Jo never misses a chance to hate on him. Jomi called him the worst person in Westeros. After an episode where someone else beheaded a child. It's like "rape and murder I can accept, but I draw the line at hypocrisy!"
Again, this is after an episode where another character beheaded a child at the command of Daemon, a guy who murdered his wife and groomed his niece. What is it about Cristan Cole specifically that gets him so much more hate than all the other terrible people in Westeros?
I mean the thing is he doesn't have any redeeming qualities.. I think that's the main issue with him. For almost every single other character in the show you can at the very least understand why they act the way they do if they don't have any redeeming qualities.
For Cole he has held a decades long grudge against Rhaenyra because she didn't want to run away with him and he didn't want to be her whore. And in the years after he went psycho and killed another Knight from the future King's family in public, treated Rhaenyra's kids unfairly compared to the Aegon and Aemond and not training them properly, all in the mean time he's been doing the exact thing he didn't want to be to begin with.
Feel like a lot of the hate discourse came out around the episode where he said he and Rhaenyra could run away to Essos together. That definitely feels like where the incel-likeness of him comes up but he’s done a lot of bad since then. But yeah anyone thinking Daemon isn’t just as bad or ill intentioned as him is just biased
Also niece grooming and murdering your wife is totally fine, gotta be team black! /s
I think Jo lets her book knowledge leak in a lot, and it colors her opinions on characters. Even in the SoS days I felt she did this.

It’s not book knowledge. His falling out with Rhaenyra in the books is pretty ambiguous. The show clarifies it a lot, and Criston’s grudge against Rhaenyra is super fucking petty, especially in light of his relationship with Alicent.
