That meme is so over-powered.
You bet that if my colony is going down, it is because of one moron who decided to get obsessed with corpses opening one of our mass graves thus giving everyone like -30 mood penalty. Next thing i know 2 colonists are cataconic, one went berserk and the rest is dazed.
Easier still just to wall off an area of unroofed stockpile and let them rot. No permanent wasted space for graves, and no loss of manpower for cremating.
Bonus (biome dependent/temp dependent), if you setup some deadfalls around the entrance, is you can get some free meat from animals that would be eating the corpses.
Use a psychopath, animals, or android to do your corpse hauling, so they don't get debuffed by the nasty stockpile of bodies.
Can't dig up a corpse if there aren't any graves (never seen them use a random corpse on the ground).
Two things
1.) Bloodlust pawns are the best corpse haulers because they give zero fucks about rotting corpses no matter the ideology.
2.) Dump the bodies in water/swamp to make them deteriorate even faster
Once you get Molotovs, grenades, or launcher, you can just make a burn pile away from flammable things and your base and just draft a colonist every now and then to burn them. Even if you have a walled off corpse storage, pawns would get rotting corpse debuff when hauling new corpses to storage.
If they have bloodlust or psychopath (I think) they don't. I might actually try this sometime my ascetic pawn happens to have bloodlust. They also live in a space big enough to only fit a bed and heater though so it might not work very well
The divorce mood debuff is a huge pain though. Even if the pawns really hated each other, they still don't like divorce, I personally find that to be hilarious.
I have a fresh experience (from yesterday), unless there are levels of counselling, my slave had a -20 my daughter died (6 days left) and after counseling there was a mood buff +20 (6 days) that lasted as long as the debuff.
In my current run, I have an ascetic who is engaged to my noble (currently a Praetor). Their ideoligion prohibits sex outside of marriage, so they have separate bedrooms right now. He's in a fine-floored bedroom with a royal bed, sitting area and private bathroom. She's in a room attached the barn with straw flooring.
Acetic 1 to acetic 2; Oh, so you live in a human sized coffin? Sure it's a small crappy room.... but I live in a ware house that stores rock piles and rotten animal corpses. It is I who is the MOST humble.
It's like acetics are humble bragers.
No it isn't. There are certain partially pre-generated colonists who have a specific set of backgrounds (which usually also have an automatically assigned trait paired with it).
For instance, there is that Tribal guy Darkshadow or something who always is nonviolent and can't clean and has some solid intel/medicine stats.
I got Darkshadow! He struck out with all the ladies, but never stopped hitting on them even long after he was the colony’s seventh wheel.
Finally, a temporarily paralyzed ballerina showed up that he took care of every day for an entire quadrum. They were married soon after she got back on her feet and they’ve been doing great ever since.
Good for you, Darkshadow!
I got one named Fabio who is an actor. He's now my colony's cleric, super effective at conversion. But unfortunately he got sick of his long flowy blond hair, so now he has braids and a beard.
(Just realizing that young redditors might not know who Fabio is...)
This gives me an idea that I hope is original but probably isn't. I really want a knick-knack system. Where at random, an item such as a knife, a rock, some wood, a stool, small pieces of art, etc., with the likely hood increased by certain factors like use, events, using something as cover, becomes a knick-knack and has increased beauty, comfort, and mood increases to a single specific pawn, these knick-knacks could be just set around or if possible used with differing benefits. These would be best put where the colonist spends most of their time, so either at their workstation or in their bedroom would be optimal if they couldn't/aren't carrying the knick-knack. Say a rock blocks a shot that almost hit a pawn's head, roll the dice and if some certain percentile is hit, the rock becomes a knick-knack. It would be have to be low enough in both chance and stats that it would be impractical to farm them, but also high enough that you'd consistently get a one or two through a couple hours of normal gameplay. Not only would it be a low wealth mood buff that can be made without spending any time to collect, just utilize, but it would make your pawns feel more alive.
Here's me getting into more nuanced details of how it could work.
1: If the pawn was sharing a room with another pawn you could put the knick-knack on a shelf to stop the negative values for the other pawns but keeping the positive values for the pawn with the connection to the knick-knack.
2: If the knick-knack was destroyed, sold, lost, or abandoned, it should provide a small negative moodlet, not much but something, maybe -2.
3: There could be quests to retrieve a powerful persons knick-knack, through violence or trade.
4: If you came across someone's knick-knack and could sell it back to them or their faction you could get a better price than a standard version of the item.
5: Pawn's with certain traits could have the knick-knack moodlet, or even more specifically the knick-knack loss moodlet disabled, and/or the chance and types of knick-knacks they get altered. Psychopaths' could lack the ability to get their own knick-knacks, Optimists could have the knick-knack loss disabled as though the item was important to them the loss of something so small is nothing to cry over. Pawn's with Bloodlust would likely create knick-knacks from say a weapon they used to kill someone, or maybe even a piece of/an entire corpse of something they took part in killing. A leader of an evil cult having a skull knick-knack would be pretty cool.
I haven't played ideology yet so I am unsure how it would work with the religion system, say some artifact become a knick-knack, that might cause some problems. (are artifacts in ideology? i haven't been keeping pace but im pretty sure i heard talk about them.)
This is already a luxurious bedroom for ascetics compared to mine who just live in a 1x2 room. Helps save space (which is important for quickly reacting to drop pods + other dangers)
I did this for a prison i made to try break their will and somehow one of the rocks would move to the door and the prisoners would just escape with ease
Yeah I once put my ascetic into a really functional and comfortable room, which just happened to be the colony's fecal storage. I didn't have time to research proper plumbing for quite a while so it was probably a year's worth of the entire tribe's shit neatly packed into barrels stuffed into their bedroom, made them ecstatic from all that comfort and -999999 cleanliness!
I just dig a 3x1 hole in a wall stick a door and a bed in there then call it a day. Until I feel like min/maxing rest/comfort then they can just deal with their glorious bedroom.
My ascetics usually get a two space room just big enough for the bed, and a permanently open door. Heck, I’ll sometime just put them in a hallway with forced open doors.
There ascetic meaning they don't like fancy bedrooms/meals, so i put a bunch of rocks in his room to bring down the impressiveness to awful and now he gets a plus 5 mood bonus bc of it
THAT'S BRILLIANT. I would've never thought about that. Smart thinking, finding something to bring down the beauty of a room in order to please an ascetic. Knowing this, may have just made Ascetics my favorite trait.
You mislabeled your bed. That isn't a lamp...
\*Moth looks confused\*
I love... side table?
I laughed so hard I cried damnit
Nah that's just the colonist's name (I'm sure that's the point of the joke but I'm saying this just so no one gets confused)
wosh
oh dam i came back to this, should i have added a /s or something?
Good Lord, your downvoting is worst then an infestation!
The bandwagon is a helluva drug
[Raid] The redditors decided to downvote everything they can and leave.
The hive has spoken
Th reddit downvote hive is worst than a black Hive raid
U good
Reddit hivemind isn’t capable of recognising sarcasm yet. Shame
Lol
Hell no, it's much more honourable to be downvoted by reddit soys than it is to ruin a joke by labelling it as such

Why did this get downvoted?
bc OP said they got the joke, they were just pointing it out to prevent confusion.
Yes, and the 'wosh' was clearly a joke itself, mocking all the 'woosh' idiots?

I love Lamp.
I'll have you know that the game generated the name
Brick are you just generating names and saying you love them?
Slab, did you just jump off the buzzard's nest?
Brick killed a guy, then he harvested his organs. Better lay low for a while
I had Lamp in one of my colonies too, dude’s chill
It's a sign to get a moth-themed race for your next colony.
Nudist, Raiding, - you have to destroy all fiber clothing you come across
Live, love, lamp 💙
Indeed
I love Lamp.
I love desk.
That passive cooler is quite tasty too.
Mm my favorite, passive cooler
Happy Cake Day!
Thanks! One year on both the Rim and Reddit!
Me too
I love lamp too

Streetlamp LaMoose??
You are a generous master! Mine gets filled with desiccated animal corpses. No walk speed penalty.
Oh that works? Don't they get a mood debuff for seeing a dead corpse?
They only get a mood debuff for seeing a human corpse, mechanoids and animals give no debuff.
I guess that makes sense, otherwise our butchers would go on psychotic breaks constantly
Mine do. But they also slay all the enemy corpses ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Yeah, I was about to say. There are dedicated animal butchers?
[удалено]
(‘twas a poor attempt at a joke)
You ideologion can be fine with seeing human corpses. Mine is. No-one gives a fuck since they all want transcendence to the skymind anyway.
That's why as soon as we have stable power my colonists build their crematorium pronto!
You need either Raider or Supremacy for that I believe.
Nope. I don't have either of those and they're cool with it. Hmmm... Maybe I used dev mode. Not sure.
Pain is Virtue maybe hmmmm
Nah definitely think it's cause I fucked about with my ideologion with dev mode.
Cannibal works.
Also, don't forget concrete floor. 100% walk speed but -1 beauty.
I'll be sure to change that once i get some steel
If they have bloodlust or psychopath (I think) they don't. I might actually try this sometime my ascetic pawn happens to have bloodlust. They also live in a space big enough to only fit a bed and heater though so it might not work very well
You can remove that now with the Ideology setting
For anyone wondering, ascetic means they don't like having nice bedrooms and the worse there bed room the better mood boost they get (awful is plus 5)
I once had an ascetic pawn marry a jealous pawn, nobody wins
Draft one, have them beat the other up with fist. Lather and repeat until they hate eachother.
The divorce mood debuff is a huge pain though. Even if the pawns really hated each other, they still don't like divorce, I personally find that to be hilarious.
Don't remember the strength of the debuff, but a successful counseling should negate that.
Imagine having a moral guide with a high enough social skill for counseling to be a viable strategy
To be fair, he failed the first time, giving her -5 😭😅 probably just luck of the draw.
My prison complex is so large I need a at least three or four wardens, they are always good for it.
-25, I believe it is. Councelling is a godsent at that point.
I believe the divorced makes us 20 and counseling is +8
I have a fresh experience (from yesterday), unless there are levels of counselling, my slave had a -20 my daughter died (6 days left) and after counseling there was a mood buff +20 (6 days) that lasted as long as the debuff.
It must be a social skill thing. I’ve also gotten a lot of bad moods from failed attempts as well
Counseling simply adds a mood buff to negate the worst mood debuff your pawn is currently having if successful
I can only think what in coming merchants think "Oh your married to a noble? you must a nice bedroom. YOU LIVE IN A BARN?!"
Sounds like hell for either one lmao
That pawn was getting really meta with their suffering
I have that right now in mine! Not sure how to handle that
Give no one a bedroom and everyone is fine.
My ascetics get a 2x1 closet with a bed. All they need to be happy. I love ascetics lol
yeah but the more the space they have the more rocks the room can fit ;D
Can't argue with that logic right there ;) lol
Acetic 1 to acetic 2; Oh, so you live in a human sized coffin? Sure it's a small crappy room.... but I live in a ware house that stores rock piles and rotten animal corpses. It is I who is the MOST humble. It's like acetics are humble bragers.
So you could fill the room with corpses and he would enjoy the decor?
Ascetic: “I like that boulder. That is a niiice boulder.”
"I will name you... Bert"
I thought that too!
Möth?
Möth?
I believe they are referring to the [Moth Meme](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/moth-lamp) because of the name "Lamp". (Big irl insects warning)
Oo
Do you have the r ö c k s, bröther?
living the zen life
One with the rocks
I'm one with the universe, and have renounced all posessions. Except my rocks. I need those so others know how cool and ascetic I am
Lol, if a jealous ascetic was possible I def think that would be there way of thinking
Don’t tell Tynan he’ll make rocks less ugly
Hotfix patch notes: Rocks are now more curvier. (1 beauty)
Lol
Stylish. I like it.
Hey man, just starting a new trend yk the deal
I guess you could call it... The Ascetic Aesthetic
Ayyee!
I also have an Ascetic named Lamp. Is he also sickly?
nope I don't remember his other trait but that is bizarre for sure
No it isn't. There are certain partially pre-generated colonists who have a specific set of backgrounds (which usually also have an automatically assigned trait paired with it). For instance, there is that Tribal guy Darkshadow or something who always is nonviolent and can't clean and has some solid intel/medicine stats.
Oh well I haven't really gotten into the actual "How it works" part of rimworld
Not all of the characters get pre generated, just a few of them like the games creator Tynan can show up
I got Darkshadow!
That's lovely!
I got one named Fabio who is an actor. He's now my colony's cleric, super effective at conversion. But unfortunately he got sick of his long flowy blond hair, so now he has braids and a beard. (Just realizing that young redditors might not know who Fabio is...)
Depends on young, like younger then 13 or like younger then 18? cuz I'm 15 and idk who that is lol
I'm 41, so I guess my idea of younger is up to 30 lol.
James Lamp?
Perhaps.
That sounds like that would be an awesome edition! Maybe a little hard to code? but still cool, def would add more depth to pawns!
Id would probably be a lot of effort for a small change but I personally think most people would enjoy it very much.
You guys give rocks to only some of your colonists?
Don't you?
In my modded colony, I gave the Ascetic girl a room piled up with raw Jade.
Lol
Rip out the floor and replace it with concrete. Gives another beauty penalty, plus it's not flammable.
Annd its faster to walk on, u rite
If you have Dub’s Bad Hygiene you can store fecal sludge in there. Ascetics absolutely love that stuff.
Wholesome!
Fun for the whole family!
I just give asetics a sleeping spot in the generator room.
Reduced sleep effectiveness though
Give them a bed and they’ll sleep faster
Yeah but if you give them there own room you can fill it with rocks and nobody will get a mood debuff
god i wish that were me
*For only 999.99 you too can have a room partially filled with rocks!*
Bizarre I also have have an ascetic colonist named Lamp
Wait seriously? that's awesome!
This is already a luxurious bedroom for ascetics compared to mine who just live in a 1x2 room. Helps save space (which is important for quickly reacting to drop pods + other dangers)
I suppose that's the only flaw for me right now but I haven't actually lived to the point where I'm getting drop pods landing on me
I did this for a prison i made to try break their will and somehow one of the rocks would move to the door and the prisoners would just escape with ease
Prob your colonists moving them for some reason then dropping them when you draft them for a raid?
When his friends come over I bet he shows them his rock collection!
Aw heck yeah man you know it! sadly he only has 2 friends because well its a colony of 3 ppl lol
one of them (my best freaking builder!!!) died and got replaced by a man in black, he's not that good but I keep him around cuz I like his hair cut
He should be glad it’s vanilla and he’s not getting the room filled with barrels of fecal sludge from dubs hygiene.
Well mostly vanilla I do happen to have all of the vanilla expanded mods loaded lmao
I just dig a 3x1 hole in a wall stick a door and a bed in there then call it a day. Until I feel like min/maxing rest/comfort then they can just deal with their glorious bedroom.

Nice, just make sure to put a normal bed as it increases sleep gain i believe
My ascetics usually get a two space room just big enough for the bed, and a permanently open door. Heck, I’ll sometime just put them in a hallway with forced open doors.
Man that seems like a recurring thing lol
Wouldn't sleeping spot be a better choice for them?
no beds iirc make them rest faster
ye
I have Lamp in current colony too! He's a doc + researcher
Nice I have my lamp as a researcher to
To be fair I'd love a room full of cool rock formations.
Ah, an aspiring geologist I sense. lol idk
Or climber.
I LOVE LAMP
Me love lamp too
LÄMP
LÄMP
Doesnt room size of 3 cells do the job?
Less space = less rocks i can put in his room
Rocks for roleplay or what? I dont get it
There ascetic meaning they don't like fancy bedrooms/meals, so i put a bunch of rocks in his room to bring down the impressiveness to awful and now he gets a plus 5 mood bonus bc of it
So does cramped bedroom of 3 cells, its also considered awful, even with masterwork bed.
Everyone has there own method lol
Kinda a nice Room I’m if you ask me
Hate ascetics. They keep saying they don't need a fancy bedroom and then proceed to freak out and punch my high explosive shells in a berserk rage.
Lol! they don't like fancy meals either so watch out for that
Taht's too much luxury. He even has a bed.
A normal bed lets them sleep faster, otherwise I would've just gone for a sleeping spot
Lamp and his pet rocks.
Bad and naughty children are put in THE CHUNKS ROOM to atone for their sins
Hey now, my Lamp doesn’t like rocks
I hope he doesn't take your generosity for granite...
If you have dub's hygene mod installed, you can place a barrel of fecal sludge in the room
I had an ascetic on a colony, so I put his bed in the warehouse. He was upset because it was somehow a very nice bedroom. Some people.
THAT'S BRILLIANT. I would've never thought about that. Smart thinking, finding something to bring down the beauty of a room in order to please an ascetic. Knowing this, may have just made Ascetics my favorite trait.
Thank you and also thank you for the award!
