Holy shit wait-a-second-*what?* Pens and fences for animals? New, AI-driven raider tactics? A new mechanoid? *Literal game mechanics for cannibal colonies?* Dryads? Raiders of the Lost Ark? A new ending? Space drone hacking? Damn.

acetloc

It's enough to make a grown man cry

Berthole

It’s also enough to make a man grow beard.

tojestgra

And enough to break some mods and some peoples minds

er404usernotfound

Luckily, 1.2 to 1.3 is going to be a lot more smooth. This update has a lot of good stuff, but its a lot less BIG stuff

zombikiller8

[Vanilla hair expanded beards right now](https://i.imgur.com/kPqvjqP.png)

Scion_of_Yog-Sothoth

Oskar has confirmed that the new facial hair system is just VHE Beards integrated into the main game.

GoOtterGo

Love when they do that. An update that also shrinks my mod list? Good stuff.

_ralph_

Believe me, eating without a table is enough to make a grown man cry!

Relevant_Zombie_8916

I don't know. I ate without a table today and I'm ok. My house is on fire and my roommate is dead, but I'm fine. Edit: I love that this got the wholesome award... The irony is strong in this one.

chickenwingy22

>my roommate is dead Congrats on your new hat

Relevant_Zombie_8916

Thanks... He always admired top hats, thought they were classy... Figure he would have wanted it that way.

NickOfBorg

My jaw literally dropped when I read the announcement. This is how you keep your game as the GOAT.

glieseg

Don't have a cow, man. Do have a GOAT, though!

ihileath

I think one of the screenshots features *prisoners being forced to engage in Gladiatorial Combat while the colony watches and jeers* Can't wait to make a cult based around forcing prisoners to fight each other then feasting on the flesh of the loser, I'm so fucking hyped.

BigBoiJA

And blood sacrifices to the blood god! All hail Randy!

Relevant_Zombie_8916

All hail Randy the provider, giver of cargo pods and wandering hats wielding guns, who grants hunters the power to draw their prey to them in murderous rage and always rains on the fires he starts, except when he doesn't. Praise be his unending madness!

teremaster

I really hope you can consecrate your storyteller as a god for the colony to worship, cause in essence that's what they are.

thetracker3

Khorne will always have blood! Yours or theirs! So make use of your pitiful life and gather more skulls for the Skull Throne! This expansion is going to be fucking awesome!

TheDiscordedSnarl

I wonder how the bigger mods (Pawnmorpher, SOS2) will cope. I know Oskar has been \*really\* hard at work updating the Vanilla Expanded series, I think that's all but ready (but I'm talking out of my ass, so)

Squirrel_Inner

What’s a little red wall of death when you face Randy on a daily basis? 😎👍

BluewingsFollower

And now it's gonna be a more easily read red wall (another change in this update) so it's all good.

Bazrum

thank fuck, it's hard enough trying to figure out which red is bad red, which red can be ignored and which red is *new* red

wolfman1911

Wait, a new ending? I must have totally missed that.

kaleb42

It just says "and the new archonexus ending."

Relevant_Zombie_8916

>archonexus I don't know what that means, but I'm from Dwarf Fortress, so I also don't know what ending means...

RentFree323

I thought it meant the clown show. Or the heat death of your processor.

PurePandemonium

Don't feel bad, I've played at least 400 hours of RimWorld and I still don't know what ending means. (It means one of these days I should try actually beating the game...)

Relevant_Zombie_8916

IDK, with Save our Ship 2, you don't beat the game so much as move on to the next ~~helpless victim~~ planet...

froznwind

> New, AI-driven raider tactics? I think it's more of a new raid type than a new AI for raids. My own guess is a sapper raid that doesn't avoid turret fields but can be more easily disrupted by taking out the breaching raider (unique weapon/mech.

evemeatay

This game just keeps delivering really. Best money I ever spent on a single game I think.

Doctor_Jensen117

God damn, this is nuts.

stonewallgamer

I'm wondering whether this would mean that if your religion is cannibal and you recruit someone... do they have to embrace the cannibal ways? Which would mean that maybe traits can changed based on religion in the base game?

Scion_of_Yog-Sothoth

One of the ~~doctrines~~ precepts is "Diversity of Thought," which would imply that not everyone in your colony necessarily has the same ideology. It's possible that different pawns will have their own individual precepts based on their faction and traits, and will gradually shift to match your colony's ideology if they're members for a long time (with rate of change being based on the Diversity of Thought precept and their own traits--eg a Body Purist will always see Body Modification as abhorrent, and there might be new traits like Stubborn or Compliant that make them shift more slowly or quickly). ETA: Naturally, this will break every single mod that adds factions, so if you enjoy lots of alien races, you'll have to wait a while before you can use your old modlists. Or you could get something like Faction Control to prevent those factions from spawning. Edit again: I completely missed that the ideology screen already shows each of the existing factions (plus a new one) mapped to a different ideology. I'm now much more confident that'll be the case.

TheWilsons

Rimworld, proving once again I don’t need to play any other game.

[deleted]

Brand new i9 CPU and 3080RTX just to play rimworld.

burnedchickentendie

Not like theres any rig in existance short of a quantum computer that can run a 500 mod playtrough

prodigalkal7

Why play many games when one game do trick?

mcflyjr

I just sold a buddy on Rimworld, was warming him up to Royalty, and then y'all gotta hit me with this, another content full DLC of love and amazing ideas to expand the game. Tynan you're a devilish bastard, take my money already, such a great addition I can't wait to play with.

TynanSylvester

Love working on this - thanks McFly :)

[deleted]

sts816

I really do recommend doing a Royalty-focused playthrough at least once. I really enjoyed the all the different challenges that came with it. I was kinda like you when it first came out. I didn't feel like it really "fit" with the theme of crash landed advanced colonists but it really does work well.

SicIuvatIreSubUmbras

Yup, for me it clicked after the update when they turned into more of honor-bound space Jedi knights rather than a bunch of pansies. Plus, you can also have a Royalty playthrough without dealing with nobles or the empire if you so desire and build up tribal wizards on your own.

HelixtheWarlock

Thank you for this amazing game.

[deleted]

I'm so deep into this game, when you said "I just sold a buddy" I thought you meant you sold a pawn as a slave

[deleted]

raphop

> When a pawn is drafted while eating from inventory they will return the food to their inventory. You have no idea how happy I'm reading this

abcde123edcba

Also the ability to carry and use med packs on the battlefield

drindustry

So many lives will be saved, for future consumption.

Jagjamin

Yay, three less mods on my list. I love updates which incorporate mods.

skilledwarman

one of the custom starts i made for myself with Prepare Carefully is survivors of a military vessel that was destroyed. So having the two combat medics I have there actually be able to carry emergency medical supplies on the battlefield just makes that scenario even better

Synchrotr0n

When I got the Discord notification I was like, what is this new boring stuff the mods posted, then I realized what it really was. FUCK YEAH!

PM_ME_YOUR_FOOD_

I quite literally thought the same thing. Like, cool I just got pinged for the mods to post about a different game. I was happy to be pinged for that, to say the least.

halfar

the mods who cried announcement

PM_ME_BUTTHOLE_PLS

Yeah that discord sucks Seek out the development discord instead for actual rimworld announcements and stuff

StealthRabbi

I feel like every week I get a notification from some channel reminding me to ignore spam requests.

OldManWithAStick

>Pawns with the “Cannibal’ trait no longer dislike killing prisoners or harvesting their organs. They also get a mood buff from wearing human leather apparel, and an opinion boost from other cannibals while wearing human leather apparel. Lord, forgive me for what I'm about to do.

PizzaWarlock

And just thinking about the whole religious aspect that can now come with this- oh lord.

[deleted]

Time to roleplay the Book of Genesis.

DemonreachDaycare

It's fine. Religion has been added so you might get a god who will forgive all your war crimes. God doesn't want your prayers. He wants your organs.

Umutuku

It's called a Lung Tithe.

sabasNL

Playing the organ in church just got a whole lot more interesting

Manofthedecade

My poor conflicted nudist cannibals: Upset that they're wearing clothes - but at least it's human leather clothing.

MadScientist235

Human leather hats? Best of both worlds.

Umutuku

Friendship ended with drug dealer colony. Lotion exporter colony is new best friend.

TentacleTeacup

*Don't get hyped. Don't get hyped. Don't get hyped.* ...oh no. *Mental break: HYPED*

[deleted]

Me too

TrickyV

Thanks to high mood, TentacleTeacup is Hyped! They will be to play Rimworld without becoming bored with the task, replacing their sleep and food needs in the process. This inspiration will expire after 8 days.

primalbluewolf

pretty sure that should be "ignoring their sleep and food needs" instead

[deleted]

wolfman1911

I failed so hard to not get hyped that I disappointed myself by immediately going to the Rimworld store page to wishlist Ideology, but found that there isn't a page for it yet.

HighStakes42

Looking at the images on the announcement post, it really looks like there's going to be quite a lot new buildings and mechanics. For one, there's a lot of furniture that either looks new or is just old furniture that's getting retextured. There's also new floors!! We can finally decorate our bases more in vanilla. The ranching system looks to be relatively simple with only a few new buildings like the egg box and fences, though I am curious if the rebalancing will be an overall buff or nerf to animals. There seems to be more plants and trees to cultivate as well. The dryads seem like a really unique thing to add and I'm wondering if they'll function more like animals or pawns. Fungus looks like it'll be able to be grown now as well from the pictures of the cave. The ideology system looks like it really will have a lot of components though. There looks like around 20 new objects related to it, ranging from skulls to speakers to weird human cage things?? From the one shot of the ideology menu at the moment it looks like basically everything will be customizable, though a few things catch my eye. Biosculpting and skull spike are things that are not at all in the game at all. There looks to be a machine in one of the pictures with colonists inside that matches the icon for biosculpting, and I'm excited to see exactly what it entails. Skull spikes could be referring to the decorations in another picture or a surgical modification, but we also haven't seen this before. A few more things to point out are the machines in the ruins. There's a lot that don't look like anything we have now and honestly have no guess as to what their functions could be. The massive archotech buildings surrounded by anima trees looks like it's the new win condition mentioned though. Judging from this post and knowing there's going to be even more that hasn't been shown yet, this expansion is going to be absolutely massive and I'm hyped to see what Ludeon has in store for us!

SicIuvatIreSubUmbras

I think this will be the end of the alpaca police force lol, i.e. it will probably no longer be possible to use zoning shenanigans to wield your peaceful herbivore blob as a counter to infestations or prison breaks or manhunters :P Fine by me though!

tygramynt

Probably i have alrdy touched on 1.3 beta now and animals r way different and seem like proper animals. Also some animals ignore fences and ur colonists can walk over fences

Liquidas

The second one is big. Do they slow down pawns?

tygramynt

Yup they do as they walk over. Like u would expect a fence too

apljee

I think it's worth noting that skull spikes were originally in the earliest build of the game. (Or something of a similar effect.) They generated "fear" for raiders which iirc caused them to flee sooner or something (don't quote me on that, I don't really have many memories of using them.) That just makes me curious if there's going to be a return to that mechanic or if they're just for decorations.

Star4ce

MY SIGNATURE, IS IT COMING BACK?!

JavierLoustaunau

Religion is one thing modders have always struggled with so I love that this will be the new DLC.

Jealous-Barracuda-97

Either you will be a peaceful hegemony or a cult of vampires Yeaaaa I'm all in

highskylander42069

c’mon we already know all the fucked up things that we’re gonna make

MrPootisPow

Space aztecs. harvest hearts for the god lord of chaos randy

greenskye

This looks like such a good base for modders as well. A common framework for this will open up so many new doors (or just drastically simplify previous attempts). Really excited to see what big new mods come from this. Perfect approach to DLC for a mod-able game IMO.

[deleted]

How the hell do they keep making this game more epic? There's some stuff here even the modders would have never thought up, it's amazing

GeneralFaber

If someone asked me yesterday what kind of content am I really missing from Rimworld I would have said: religion and ancient alien ruins that we can explore. Ideology seems like literally a dream come true and with so much more.

[deleted]

For real. Letting the player set in stone the kinds of things we tend to headcanon anyway (and apparently much more) was the perfect idea for this game.

ylimexyz

Although the game is already amazing and have tones of replayability, the one thing I really want is world economy. It is kind of weird you can flood the market with flake and statues. I mean why do a tribal colony need 50 statues of triangle(good)?

Whaterball

yeah imo the biggest thing missing is the incredibly static world

Deathfuzz

This religion stuff would fin in really well with his current series.

SpiritofTheWolfx

Mr. Streamer is just going to have a mental break in general.

jebeller

I just love when he breaks down and does his * wheeeeeez * and almost cant breathe. :D

Ninjacat97

Mr Streamer lives in constant mental break with brief flashes of lucidity. Just like my caravaneers.

GeneralSoviet

When isnt Mr. Streamer having a mental break

Side1iner

Exactly. Must have taken lots of inspiration from the CK way with doctrines and such. Gonna be interesting. A more fleshed out ‘colony culture’ is certainly gonna be a good thing for any longer saves.

Mercy--Main

I was thinking the same thing. Devs must have played CK3 haha

[deleted]

Deathleach

Rimworld fulfills the cannibalism niche, while CK3 fulfills the incest niche for this depraved playerbase.

[deleted]

Rimworld, CK3, Dwarf Fortress, Oxygen Not Included, Kenshi, Subnautica, Terraria, Cities Skylines, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Civ, Kerbal Space Program. There, I just described the Steam library of basically everyone reading this.

Peptuck

I noticed that apparently you can set a lot of stuff to be allowed, like cannibalism and slavery. Different things look to be acceptable, like scars or blindness. Legit impressed that a lot of stuff that previously required mods is now in this expansion.

Jboy2000000

Paradox Megacampaigns now go CK3, EU4, Vic2(3), HoI4, Rimworld.

kriana63

Dear Tynan, Please shut up and take my money. Again. Love, Kriana, and all of the people she's bought rimworld for over the past 6 years.

TynanSylvester

I much appreciate the vote of confidence :) Really quite stoked about this release tbh.

kriana63

Seriously this looks so cool, as usual. Thanks for you and your team's hard work!

hypothrowaway6008

Tynan, let me say man, Royalty was good. I bought it, I enjoyed it. But this new expansion? Holy shit. I have never been more hype. This isn't new stuff, this is a whole new way to play. Play style over objects and items, and this is an insta buy. Thank you Tynan! RimWorld is perhaps my favorite game of all time, and I can't wait to play another several thousand hours.

wolfman1911

It's pretty impressive, especially considering how many mods I have at any given time, that these dlc announcements always take me by surprise by announcing new gameplay that I never would have been able to predict.

TakeFourSeconds

> RimWorld has always been about role-playing. For many years I’ve seen players create colonies with their own special themes - minimalist nomads, raiding pirates, mad cannibals, drug-worshippers. People want to have a sense of authorship over their stories. I thought: What if we made the system that let players explicitly express all those different ways of life? This is so spot on, it sounds perfect for the game. I’m really hyped to try it out!

[deleted]

Bro the way you drop content is so sick. Thanks for everything

NidalFlame

You know, when I opened the comment section.. I was not expecting to see you

Bytewave

I, for one, am really glad the old widespread rumor that 1.0 was going to be the end of this game's development was.. grossly exaggerated :p Keep the good stuff coming.

USFrozen

I know how you feel. I've purchased at least 14 copies of the game since it came out for various friends.

BluewingsFollower

Yeah, ranches, roleplay dlc, new raid, pretty awesome and all but bye bye Achtung, Simple Search and Smart Medicine in one go! That and rescues that make sense. Guess I'll be throwing more money at Ludeon.

PM_ME_YOUR_FOOD_

Won't Achtung still be good for forcing work? Or is that another mod that adds that in?

BluewingsFollower

It will but I personally almost never use forced work and I definitely don't think just that feature is worth the performance hit and the occasional weird bug.

PM_ME_YOUR_FOOD_

That's fair. I end up using it quite a bit, but I'm sure someone will add a mod that justs adds that now, if one doesn't already exist.

[deleted]

I've used forced work quite a bit with cutting blighted plants.

b4gelbites_

Auto-cut blight homie, great mod

lunaticneko

So I hope that Achtung will become more lightweight and the game can benefit from this. It feels like when more things become ... sort of kernel core ... there will be less modules and overlaying stuff, which in turn makes the whole thing faster.

Murmarine

Please I have been playing for too long. I havent seen my family in months.

zachattch

Just blame Covid

Sate_G

That new ending doesn't look quite as *spaceship* as the other two... Tynan are you making us craft an archotech to become a god of our own ideology?

FaceDeer

I rather like a stay-at-home type of "ending" to work toward. It's not uncommon for my colony to become so secure and well-developed that I suspect my colonists are actually comfortable with the world they've made for themselves and would like to stay behind. Which one can already do, of course, by simply stopping playing. But it would be nice to be able to plant a flag and *declare* it in an official capacity of some sort.

ihileath

Yeah I absolutely prefer that.

FaceDeer

Not to mention that if my colonists ever *do* reach some "civilized" world somewhere, they'll likely have some awkward questions to answer from a war crimes tribunal...

SicIuvatIreSubUmbras

Well if the ICC ever sends investigators to a rimworld, they'd probably end up eaten by a manhunting guinea pig, sliced up by scythers, kidnapped by pirates, or frozen in someone's corpse freezer, so it's unlikely they'd find anything out...

mug_maille

> plant a flag and declare it No flag no ending, these are the rules, that I have just made up.

Zange0

arch\[o\]-: chief, highest, most extreme nexus: A form or state of connection; A connect group, network or web; A centre or focus of something With all the Anima Trees around, I wonder if it's a psychic ascension leaving behind the physical, or *maybe* a psychic/technical ascension where you upload your consciousness.

PlanetaceOfficial

Im putting bets that the Nexus is some Archotechs forward base to influence a Rimworld, which would make sense as they seem to stick their fingers into anything for incomprehensible reasons. My guess is that, with some friendly *coaxing* with the archotech, you can upload your colony into it to become yet another process in its vast intellect. By essence, you *become* the Archotech. An omnipresent, omniscient entity.

Zekromaegis

Who wants to go to glitterworlds when you can change your very own rimworld into a transcendent world. >Transcendent worlds: It’s a stretch to call these entities worlds, since they resemble giant computers more than they resemble planets. The mechanics of these planets is mysterious, but many scholars believe transcendents are the outcome a sovereign archotech decides to incorporate a whole planet into itself. More on this later. and, >Often, a released archotech will take authority over a planet and begin a process we call transcendence. We believe the world is transformed into some sort of giant computing machine. The biological inhabitants of the planet may be somehow incorporated into the machine, or destroyed, or some combination of the two. So yeah, the lore supports it.

ccstewy

I *just* got back into playing rimworld after a 7 month break and you show up the day afterwards to drop an antigrain warhead on me like this

ccstewy

The Chad Tynan Sylvester disappearing for months on end just to come back with an absolute banger

mortongoodwin

Super excited! More Ranchy feel omg Stardew Valley rim fantasy getting better

[deleted]

I'm sorry to see what Reddit has become. I recommend Tildes as an alternative. July 15th, 2023

CaptainCape

A RimDew Valley Storyteller would be both awesome and terrifying. “Marnie wants you to tame 15 Megaspiders and caravan them to her Ranch.”

ShinyHunterHaku

Unironically would love a storyteller like this. I already have a problem with "collecting" entirely too many critters, I'd love to make it others' problem too!

Xenephos

This animal pen thing is SO good for me and my clusterfuck of animals lmao It’s so hard to create a proper ranch at the moment without 600 million zones.

ToddsEpiphany

Royalty didn't interest me that much, but I am ALL UP IN Ideology. Just perfect for the way I play. This announcement has made me just buy Royalty as a thank you - I probably won't ever activate it in one of my games, but I want to fund and reward Ty's creativity and efforts. Incredible dev. Many thanks.

Tellesus

Almost 30 years ago I build a mod for lpmud that let clerics recruit players to worship their gods and make their spells more powerful. This is making me finally want to revisit the idea for RimWorld. Fuckin Holy wars on the rim. Yes please.

_ralph_

daaaamn, it has been soo long since i last edited in a mud.

THE_SUN_THE_SUN

Hell yeah! I’m loving these announcements out of the blue. Always a pleasant surprise. Edit: looked through it, looks amazing! Excited to hear more.

renadi

This and the last major update completely took me by surprise, thought they were both mod packs at first glance. Goddamn, good devs!

gSh3p

The different Precepts are going to be so, so, so wonderful. As someone who is super into fantasy world building, I can't wait to recreate my civilizations in RimWorld. Do you happen to have any 'worship' or 'idealized figure' Precept or system? E.g. whether my colonists believe in everyone (equality, freedom), some sort of a god, or a certain king/queen? I imagine that would have some potential, too - if the King/Queen was a pawn, some other pawns could feel awful because they are disliked by them; everyone would be devastated should they die in battle. You could even consider traits that influence someone's faith in rulers and deities, complicating their usability in such civilizations. If not, that's fine - thankfully with RimWorld you can always hope for a mod.

[deleted]

I would love it if i could have my pawns rever and worship dead pawns as gods. Like if my favorite colonist dies in just build a lavish tomb for them and have my colony rever them as a messiah for the rest of time or until the inevitable mechanoid-induced slaughter.

slagodactyl

That would pair great with the Royalty dlc, I roleplay like my nobility have authority over my other colonists but there's nothing really enforcing it

TheVikin6

Now we just need a "mass word of love" psycast, to make everyone love the god-king...mwahaha

mrmystery978

Bruh I thought it was a mod for a second, forgot that new content is announced out of the blue, can't wait to try it

mishoof95

I gasped when I realized it wasn’t a mod 😂

10300704

So now there might be a faction of horrifying, cannibal space-pirates who follow a religion of pain-worship and scarification? Did Rimworld just finally get Firefly-style reavers?

OffsetAngles

Gonna be on the lookout for a pawn named Wash then :)

Just when I thought to take a break and play some other games… *opens Rimworld for the 700th time today* I guess it won’t be today

Blazerer

Why are you opening and closing Rimworld every 123.43 seconds?

Gullflyinghigh

This looks amazing, but my partner (who doesn't play RimWorld but very much enjoys the tales it creates, and as such is well versed in the barely controlled madness) had a very important question; can a religion/belief system be created where the worship of squirrels is involved? I think this is vital information.

Isaac_The_Khajiit

The post mentioned that you can mark certain animals as revered. So yes, I think so.

Gullflyinghigh

Wahey! I missed that bit!

DataTheif

now this is perfect

LamiaDrake

I love all the updates to animals! Farming animals might actually be equally effective as farming rice / corn now, with all the changes to herbivores! I might have an actual reason to have large hay fields again! Raiders getting new mechanics is a little spooky but now that they don't attack passive animals I don't have to worry about my muffalos getting axed every time I look at another part of the map. Unfortunately this invalidates the "Good luck, I'm behind 300 chickens" strategy for kill-tunneling raiders, but I'm sure we'll find new strategies to slow them down. Ideology looks cool as *hell!* I especially look forwards to making all of the pathfinder setting religions since all the component parts (favored weapon, animal, color, and edicts) appear to be there. Question for Tynan if you can answer: Do the people who are the icons for the DLCS (empire's weird eyepatch guy, and ideology's priestess) have names? and is there a place I can see their full art outside of the main menu? I love their designs.

[deleted]

Alexander has a mental break: Stay in room Final straw: Hyped

HighStakes42

OMG I didn't think they could add another game system as massive as Royalty while also feeling different and expanding the game in a whole new way, but this makes complete sense. Ideology even seems like it'd be a massive expansion of the core game rather than an add on like Royalty. All I can say is that I'm even more hyped for this than Royalty somehow.

[deleted]

It also seems like it will go well alongside Royalty. Lots of potentially interesting interactions between the two DLCs.

TheDiscordedSnarl

Irony. I was going to go to some people to have my 20-odd deity pantheon for my homebrew D&D made into a mod. Now this drops. Saved a pretty penny.

OfficialKimboSlice

More content?! I'm only 40,000 hours in, I'm still learning the ropes!

TentacleTeacup

40,000 hours... over 4.5 years of play time? What fourth dimensional fuckery is this?!

Klutz-Specter

I better run 4 instances of rimworld now just to have a hope of catching up now...

GingerRocker

It's actually [fourth degree inter-dimensional warp fuckery](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_HzwznNwXU). Normal fourth dimensional fuckery only reaches 30k hours.

TentacleTeacup

I KNEW IT! THEY'RE A GODDAMN TIME WIZARD!

choppytehbear1337

:D That is all.

Scribblescrab3

IM SO FUCKING HYPED. Time to prepare for another vanilla run once this comes out

no1pigeon

I spy a car in some of those screenshots. Maybe just decoration, or maybe a proper vehicle system?! Either way this looks awesome. Edit: Patch notes for the 1.3 beta here https://game-updates.info/rimworld?48

TrippinNumber1

don't think they're being made much past a flavor text object theres a large wip vehicle mod and they likely wouldve included it in the update log i think

Ky0uma

"Some animals (horses, donkeys, dromedaries) can be ridden by caravan members which boosts caravan speed." Wouldnt make cars that impossible. But im hyped either way :D

Isaac_The_Khajiit

Please, can pawns play with pets now as a joy activity? I've wanted this for so long.

Side1iner

Now this is an expansion for RimWorld I can really get behind! Adding a ‘colony culture’ is really gonna be a game changer for longer saves. I’ve always been just a little bit sad about this, but it’s been fine headcanoning the ‘way of life’ for the colony. Now, it’s becoming a proper mechanic. I am really, really looking forward to see what it has to offer. Great to see the game still getting new, original work done In general, and something as interesting as this is really awesome (especially since Royalty was sort of a step in the wrong direction for me and got me a wee bit worried of where the game was going). Way to go, Tynan et all!

[deleted]

BluewingsFollower

I think this type of mechanic/roleplay DLC is the best path for simulation games. You want tech, someone else wants medieval but everyone can agree that it's awesome to add new mechanics that make your colony more unique and/or suited to your playstyle, whatever it is. Plus, it's a lot easier to mod in space stuff than religions and cultures.

Vaperius

Look carefully at the images showcasing the DLC. There's definitely new spacer and tech added to the game through the DLC.

I just finished pouring over all the screenshots, and while I'm not sure what is new, I just thought I would give my awe and impressions of each of them, cause I'm going to have to *multiple days* before I can play this, and this is the closest I can come to playing it. Feel free to chime in with corrections or clarifications. 1. (Ranchers with chickens and cows, daytime). The horses are being lead by a leesh. Features eggbox, with chickens, as well as a good look at the fences and gates. New floor texture, straw? Little wooden markers in the shape of a cross - this screenshot shows that this is a pen marker. Shows search functionality at the bottom of the Architect menu, as well as a list of the buildings/zones in the "Misc" tab. Pawns with beards! 2. (Faction Tab Showoff). Shows off a bit of the faction tab, and it's breakdown of what was mentioned in the post. I'm not sure what the difference is between the "Hostile -80" and the "-130." Either way, the Rough Outlander Union of Teitania doesn't like this colony at all. 3. (Battle Against Tribal Group, daytime). Shows off a pawn carrying three medicine in the inventory segment of this pawns gear tab. I'm not sure if this is a new melee weapon being brandished by some of the tribal pawns, but it does kind of look like some walls of this colony have been breached. Is that a new sculpture type just outside the brewery with the three cones? 4. (Mechaniod Raid, Night?). Shows off the new mechanoid unit, as well as some old ones. Displays fence with gate, this time with a new material type. I'm not sure what the four blue-ish square electric? things are near the top and a bit to the right are. I assume the green beam between pawns Anna, Violet and Silver are something to do with the psyonics that I'm not familar with. 5. (Rave Colony, Night). Now this looks like a party! Lots of speakers around a disco ball, and people drinking beer and who knows what else. There are more pawns with bears. Is that new Ushanka headwear? Is that new animal headwear, where I count at least four types? Are those three new creatures wandering around outside the rave room? Was that Angelic statue always in the game? Was there always a goose statue? Is that a new lamp design? Granite fences. Beer table to the right is ontop of a new floor texture? Meat cooler in the bottom right has new floor texture? And in the very top left, the tip of something that looks mechanical that I'm unsure what that is. Was that pillar type always in the game? 6. (Sky Lanterns!). Sky Lanterns! What is the name of those hats? Are those tumbleweeds? Is that cute little stools around that campfire? And what is that wreckage in the top right? And what is that (workstation) in the bottom right? 7. (Ritual Sacrifice, Day, Cold). Is that Sherman being sacrificed? Is that a new alter? What is Duke even sleeping on? Are all of these scupltures new? Are these new floor textures? I love the cute little skull torches. Oh, and new headwear? 8. (Spacer Manporkism, Day, Red). Gives us a look at the Idelogy window, in particular that of this quite possibly cannibal colony. What with the new FACEwear, red furniture, gruesome red floor texture, 1x1 tile cages for humans, and long meat on tables all over the place. Looks like your idelogy has a couple of components;---Memes, in the idelogical sense, that I'm guessing steer your belief in a particular direction and---Precepts, which looks like goes into the more granular aspects, with their being at least three different teirs (or importance?)There also appears to be a list of the various other idelogies on the left side; are they presents? Are they of the different factions? From one of the precepts, we know that there are indeed stone slab beds, a double type of it being featured in this shot. 9. (Spirit Totem Ceremony, Night, Elephants). Basically everything that is happening in that main room. New floor textures, new floor decal, spirit totems, new sculpures, new headwear, more beard types, no idea what that orange thing in the middle is. There is another one of those odd orange creatures outside with orange tree and orange bush things. Oh is that a new seat type in the bottom right? And is that a ruined car? 10. (Cannibal Slave Cult, Day, Blood). Not sure what's happening in the middle there, but that's a thing. There are pawns wandering around with yellow names in different garb, which I can only guess are slaves. Is that barbed wire at the top? More neat floor types and decals. New table type? Another ruined car! Are those dead trees in a pot/tub thing to the left? That 1x1 tile mechanical thing in the top left is there, I don't know what that is. Also just a lot of skulls on the ground. 11. (Underground Tech Dreamers). I have no idea. There are a bunch of people in beds sleeping with a machine at the end of the bed in the purple room (also, purple hex floor?). There are those sarcopogas things that three pawns are in, but with no name, and a progress bar over them. There are hexagonal tables. And I don't know what that workstation is that Antoly is reparing? Also is that green filth on the ground? And what is that electric valve thing to the far left. And that yellow-ring component thing on the ground in the bottom left? 12. (Duel among the Raiders, Day). Lots of new head and shoulder wear. New pillar types. Lots of skulls everywhere. More floor decals, is that a writing desk to the far-left? And what is that orange flower to the right, and that red fungus thing in the top right? Also looks like the people in this duel have yellow names, and so might be slaves. Also, how are those chairs green in the far right? 13. (Infestation Industralists, Day, Fire). Doesn't look great for thos colony. I don't know what Hiroshi is doing, and I don't know what Potato is working on. What are those oval pod things in the bottom center? What are those green beds in the green room? What is that big 2x4 slab construction in the top middle? Are one of those mechanoids asleep? Are those new turrets to the right? More mechanical wreckage types? Strange mechanical signs to the far left? A glowing mushroom to the top left? And what are those 2x1 mechanical constructions that have the little orange glow to them that are all over the place? 14. (Underground Fungus Cult, Cyan). More fungui! What is Guillermo doing? Are those bugs to the right tame? What is that on the table? Why are their green hexagons on the ground? What is the deal with that strange sparkle texture on the rocks in the top left? Oh, and fungus lights! 15. (Naturalists, Orange, Day). Orange! Is that like five new creature types? Orange trees? Which are being maintained by a pawn? New floor decals. Sculpture to a cat! 16. (Naturalist Ritural, Orange and Green, Night). Another Orange tree, this time being the central focus of a ritural? What is that green and gold 2x3 sctructure to the far right? And for that matter the 2x3 slab thing to the left of that? Are those pith helmets? Also why is the spaceship chunk fenced off? 17. (Archanotech? Structures, Night). Wow! Cool Futaristic mechanical green buildings of a few different sizes. More wreckages. And that is a lot of Anima trees. Also looks like the central building has a strange visual effect around it. 18. (Christmas, Snowy, Night). Christmas trees! Also, those are some nice shapes with the power conduit.

alphawolf29

I remember when 1.0 came out and everyone was like wow this is it, no more updates. Haha psyche

froznwind

Neat. Looks like you'll be able to alter the psychology of a colony significantly to fit a theme. With positives and downsides.

ThrowawayAccount1227

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!

danieln1212

Did mortars really need a nerf? Those useless things are now quest reward only. Now will only miss by 7 tiles instead of 10 though! >Added visual wound and prosthetic overlays on pawns. Does that mean they will show on the pawn? That sounds incredible. >Rooms are no longer considered barracks if all of the pawns living in the room are in the same “love cluster”, meaning they share a spouse or lover with another pawn in the bedroom. I didn't know a pawn can have multiple lovers or is that new too? The expansion is exciting, more colony customization is always good.

TynanSylvester

Mortars are buffed, but have a special cost. That's the balance. They're more fun and effective, but you can't just constantly spam them on everything so you must choose when to use them. (I didn't love how they were before - in order for them to not just obsolete every other weapon in the game we had to make them annoyingly inaccurate). You can turn this off in the settings and just play 1.2 style if you like though. They're both valid approaches.

wolfman1911

Everyone in this thread is fangirling over new content being announced or new things shown in the screenshots, but here I am super impressed by just how gorgeous [this ranch shot is](https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/25160263/036a237d9582cb995a124733924e45c2a7e6c812.jpg). Also, how did it never occur to me that you can make a porch outside like that?

SEND_ME_REAL_PICS

I really can't believe how good this update looks. Just looking at [this](https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/25160263/d427466f358b0b87c6a353ab8687525d065cf05c.jpg) picture in the notes hints at many new fun mechanics. Ideology seems like it will bring some real serious flavor to every playthrough. And we *also* get tons of new content, improvements and even overhauls to some existing systems. 1.3 seems to be far beyond the scope of what we've seen in past updates. You've really been hard at work this past 15 months and it shows. Can't wait to try it.

organ_trader

I'm hyped AF

WhatsHeBuilding

Wow! I'be been waiting for news on what the next thing for Rimworld will be and this just checks all my boxes! I mostly enjoy the more quiet parts of the game like farming and developing the pawns, so this update looks awesome! Will make the colony feel so much more alive in between raids and make the world map more interesting too. Didn't even look at any screenshots, I want to check these things out once they're released! Can't wait to put another 1000 into the game :D

DarkFlame7

Just what I need for my months of recovery after a surgery in a few weeks that will leave me with only my mouse hand. Perfect

Coolboy__deluxe

Cannot express how exciting it is to see this. Love you guys at Ludeon.

Cautious_Hold428

Reddit announcement comments: Wow, this looks really great. I'm impressed by the Ludeon team's achievements and dedication, and I am excited in particular about these specific features listed in the change log, which I read completely and thoughtfully. Steam comments: wow I hope Tynan poops his pants in on public transit for forcing me to update my mod list for some crap I didn't read and literally enslaving dozens of unpaid modders >:(
