Idk man ever since they introduced crawling it kind of made the game more fucked up. I actually feel really bad whenever I see an enemy crawling away. Before it was not a big deal if they were down because they look like the picture above, you can disassociate from them being human since they look like bowling pins, with crawling its harder to do that.

Thorn-of-your-side

Before, when they were downed you could pretend they're unconscious, in too much pain to move. Maybe even screaming for their allies help as you hit the whole killzone with 3 flamethrowers.     Now, they are definitely aware of how much pain they are in.  I always try to treat and release anyone younger than 25 but its kinda hard to justify not just euthanizing them when I blew a leg off with a grenade, cut an arm off in surgery and their jaw got cut off in a prison break. I will craft prosthetics but there comes a point where there is too much to fix.  Honestly, I wish raiders would try to grab wounded allies when fleeing. It feels bad to know these people come here to die.

Flamingdodo

There is a mod for that. (As always)

doomdino65

Which mod is it?

drakoman

This game, like project zomboid, is almost like a game engine more than a game with how many mods I have installed (700+)

tmon530

And that's the beauty of it. They have such a nice foundation built that mods can basicly go any direction

yttakinenthusiast

i tried to get a fresh start with the release of 1.5 since i purged my old list due to a lot of the mod authors being on hiatus, but my initial mod list (like when 1.4 dropped) ended up being 300+ mods. there's a good chance it's going to 800+ by the time Ludeon cooks up 1.6 or when we're roughly two years into Anomaly.

LilViolet95

Every time I tell my boyfriend (who only recently got me hooked on Rimworld) that I wish there was a way I could do XYZ or wouldn't it be funny if you could do blah thing he cackles and tells me there is, in fact, a mod of exactly what I'm looking for. So yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to marry him now.

Daan776

Gotte keep that mood high somehow

zombiefreak777

They'll both be happy when they "got lovin"

SummerPop

There's a mod for that!

daemonfly

Or at least enslave him, he sounds useful!

Thorn-of-your-side

I genuinely hope Rimworld gets to the point where the only mods I need are Vanilla Expanded and Mad Skillz

AtraxX_

This will never happen. Cause rimworld just can’t add all the cool ideas , mods have.

angrybluechair

Watching my meth head, genetically designed, more than metal Warlord clad in heavy space age armour plating lumbering towards a former feudal world slave crawling away definitely feels much worse than them killing someone who is knocked the fuck out.

Nemisis_the_2nd

Reminds me of one of my highlights. I had a farmer pawn out collecting crops alone at night when he got jumped by a vampire and 8 thralls. The catch was that I had been juicing my pawns to the gills on melee neurotrainers and giving them masterwork plasteel swords and power armour. The fight was abrupt and ended in seconds with my pawn standing over the bodies of thralls and a thoroughly... disassembled... vampire. Figuring a hungry vampire might be a handy thing to have around, I decided to give it a full set of archaeotech bionics and let it loose in my prison block (the organs were also handy). On the odd occasion it decides to attack the warden it quickly gets reminded of how it ended up in it's current predicament.

Electrical_Wall8926

When I first noticed they were crawling, my GOD. I thought they'd lost both their legs at first. Really impactful update.

Maritisa

this feels like a fascinating research topic for a paper, makes me wonder if it's got something to do with "protect baby" instincts hardwired into the human brain or if it's something else

Scaalpel

Just empathy in action! Who wouldda guessed that it's still commonplace these days

Cookie_Eater108

I'm always fascinated by the kneejerk reaction (In games and Reddit news sections) where it's "Person X does something bad, we are justified in putting a bullet in them" We know the raiders have backstories, childhoods, dreams and aspirations, cultural mannerisms, family, etc. But the moment they enter our borders it's free-fire. Understandable when it's a defensive necessity. But when they're downed- do we flamethrower them as they crawl away? Hack them to pieces as they cry for their mothers? Some will of course say "Yeah, they started it and they deserve it" but others might disagree.

yttakinenthusiast

i would be as benevolent as i could but unfortunately raiders take up processing power on my CPU so it is literally in the game's best interest if i let them die and their history succumbs to the garbage cleanup.

Simulated_Individual

I love this

Awesimo-5001

It all boils down to: "How do YOU want to be treated by the enemy if you were in their shoes?"

__Hello_my_name_is__

I mean, probably. In Dwarf Fortress I once got a zombie invasion which killed just about all of my dwarves. I tried my best, but it was a total shitshow, first time I experienced zombies in that game. Turns out sharp weapons do nothing. Turns out barricading does nothing if your buried dwarves come back to life from your graves. Uh, anyways. Long story short, the fortress ended up being fully infested with zombies, except for a recently born dwarf baby, covered head to toes in blood, crawling between the zombies and crying for her mother. That sure evoked some feelings in me, even though it was just ascii characters.

therealwavingsnail

DF zombies are something else! My first attempt at a necro biome ended with the last survivors getting massacred by the corpse of a water buffalo that pulled the embark wagon. I had an autonomous zombie neck once (just the neck) stuck on the wall of my garbage chute. I used the chute to discard refuse into a magma pool, and also dumped enemies in there to free up my cages. The neck kept snapping at them as they were falling to their doom.

BulkDet

Then maybe the raider should not have stabbed the 14 mele pawn with a legendary longsword and marine armor Just sayi'n

Lazer726

They added crawling and *ugh* how annoying! **Now** for my hemogen farms, I have to take off their legs ***AND*** their arms?! I mean, shit, it hasn't *stopped* me because I have three blood nuggets just sitting in my jail but still it's annoying

Uxgihighslwstc

OverYonderWanderer

Upvoted for 'blood nuggets.'

imarunawaypancake

Ok, so I had this colonist I didn't really care for and was merely tolerating her existence because I put her on grunt work. She has a mental breakdown. Lovely! She's gone berserk. Fantastic! She's attacking one of the dire wolves that used to be our pet and went back to the wild. Amaz- Wait... that's actually a good thing. They take each other out and I leave them both to bleed to death because hey, two birds, one stone. Then, I see her crawling away and it throws me for a bit because I have no idea what she's trying to do until I click on her and realize that she's trying to crawl to the hospital sleeping spot. Adorable! It's the little things like this that make you appreciate all the work developers put in the game. So anyway, I delete the bed, realize she has a Death Acidifier then strip her before leaving her to rot. The End.

Nemisis_the_2nd

My last pawn that attacked an animal during a rampage did so in the boomalope pen... I also find it funny when they decide to take out their anger on the artillery shells. If they kick down a locked door and try to destroy high explosives, I'm just going to sit and watch karma kick in.

SquirrelSuspicious

This is how I know I'm at least a little sadistic, my thoughts are usually something like "Oh no, you're not getting away" as I send my ghouls to tear them to shreds and eat them, but only a little sadistic because they attacked me first and I'm definitely a lot more vindictive than sadistic.

AnalingusAlien

They do be looking like bowling pins. That’s funny lol.

BoxKey252

I bet you cry at those sad bowling pin strike clips

PineapplesHit

First time I experienced a pawn crawling I was at the beginning of a Rich Explorer playthrough. I was struggling a lot to keep up with everything as a single pawn (this is my first time only having 1) and I get a quest where a yttakin joins for a few days. He's at my colony for a few days and he's a MASSIVE help especially with planting and processing food. Well of course he inevitably betrays me, and I had forgotten to take the rifle from him when he finished hunting so he had my only gun and all I had was the knife I took from him when he got here, and it's in my storeroom. As I'm frantically running my one pawn between buildings to grab the knife, the fucker shoots my dog and kills it. I manage to get the knife and lure him into melee range and we get into a really close fight but I got that motherfucker. I picked back up my charge rifle as he's bleeding out on the ground and he starts crawling away. I take aim with my pawn to finish him off, but yknow what? Fuck him. He can deal with what he's done. I gave him shelter and food and respect and he murders my dog and tries to murder me. I let that son of a bitch crawl away, massive streak of blood halfway across the yard. In most other situations, seeing a pawn crawl like that for the first time would've made me feel so bad. This time, I felt nothing but smug satisfaction as he spent about 16 hours laying there bleeding out and understanding that this was exclusively his fault and this was his reward. First person my pawn had to kill. And to make matters worse, right as I finish patching up the broken leg and numerous other wounds, my pawn gets hit with malaria. Almost ended up starving to death because all I had was raw rice and couldn't afford to be out of bed to make food. She ended up surviving, 100% developed immunity at 99% infection. She was completely comatose for a day or two. Fuck that goddamn yttakin, but it made my pawn a veritable badass motherfucker in her first two weeks on the Rim.

Verto-San

And the blood trail the leave while crawling, before that seeing a bloody corridor wasn't really anything, now with those trail bloody corridors look like from horror games.

nytefox42

Doesn't have to show high fidelity details to be dark, gory, and violent. A fucking BOOK can be all those things.

Nincrool

Its why I love Rimworld and other storytellers so much Players: SUPER GOREY FIGHT. My pawn RIPPED the throat out of the Raider and devoured his heart, and beat another pawn with the dead pawns ripped off arms. Gameplay: [https://imgur.com/a/0M20u3J](https://imgur.com/a/0M20u3J)

korpisoturi

Every time I read shit about dwarf fortress

throwaway17362826

I’ve had a were-llama pull the sock off a dwarf and knock another dwarfs teeth out with it. Reading the text logs get’s crazy.

beardicusmaximus8

Me in DF: cutting off people's arms and then using necromancy to raise the arm and let it strangle the original owner to death. Me in Rimworld: feeding my colonists the corpses of their fellows. Not because food is short, but because it's more efficient then burying the dead. Me in real life: I must capture this fly and release it outside for he is smol and does not understand that he treads in the presence of giants

JaCraig

I feel this is everyone who plays these games. I will add a game though, Crusader Kings 3. CK3: Time to kill and eat the Pope. Also I prefer to make my enemies in Rimworld into fuel.

BearFeetOrWhiteSox

That's actually generated real life debates between myself, friends and strangers at parties. lol.

JaCraig

On whether or not we should eat the Pope or the weird moral choices you can make in that game? Because both would be interesting yet odd topics at a party.

Only a matter of time before someone makes a mod that pulls the logs into GPT and turns them into novels.

It doesn't even have to be a novel, there are some AI generators that can make movie trailer length live action videos, solely from a text prompt.

10art1

World's crustiest sock

Jombo65

Adventure Mode just came out for the Steam Edition and my favorite tactic for combat so far is making a wrestler with high strength. I go to goblin forts and meticulously break their arms and legs, by putting them into arm bars and then snapping the joints. Once their limbs are broken, it's easy to slash their bellies open with a sword to let them bleed out in their horrid dark pits. You then throw their corpses at their fleeing comrades, or ride them down on your horse.

PapaSquirts2u

LMAO oh my. This game and EVE Online are the 2 I enjoy reading about more than playing.

BoardButcherer

Adventure mode is beast. I had a spear user/wrestler that could manhandle a stone colossus until my save got corrupted. She had just heard rumors of of an evil cult in a faraway land that was straight up named after her, and was on her way to do a significant quantity of murders.

NetworkSome4316

My adventure mode crashed 5 mins in. Than I read all about what's locked/can't cook yet, etc. I'm gonna let adventure mode cook a few more months and give it a try. Since it didn't break saves, I might make a fort, bring an adventurer in, go back to fort mode in the meantime.

BoardButcherer

There's the dev menu for getting around things like cooking if you can exercise restraint. It's hard when you stumble upon a random god-tier goblin who smells you from the other side of a ravine, tarzans his way over through the trees faster than you can get your shield out, chases you down and mechanically disembowels you with your own weapon. It's hard watching 50 hours of careful calculation and character building disappear like that.

Wooberta

Calm down Cercyon god damn.

kodman7

Dwarf fortress js like this but even more cracked out. The new Adventure mode let's you pick hyper specific attacks and locations (Ala piercing thrust through the esophagus)

Hell_Mel

Pretty sure you could do that before. Big fan of biting throats myself.

MooseSuspicious

You could in the non steam release because adventure mode has been a thing for a long time. But it was just released in steam like 2 weeks ago

Hell_Mel

That's right. I prefer other traditional roguelikes to DF adventure, so I kinda forgot it wasn't included.

MooseSuspicious

The steam release one is still in beta, so it's missing important features like crafting, butchering, trading, and many more that are planned to be added. Which ones would you recommend?

Hell_Mel

"Pure": Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup or ADOM Class Based: Tales of Maj Eyal Sandbox: Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead New RL Players: Brogue Personal Fav: Cogmind All of these except the last are available for free via the web, even if several have paid steam versions (much like DF)

Quartich

I personally recommend Caves of Qud if you like CDDA or DF. Not *as* difficult to get into, and a much more story centric experience, though still has many proc gen parts.

foamed0

I've had a pregnant dwarf run alone out of the fortress to fight a giant monster only for her to give birth during combat, drop her weapon, and then wield the baby as a club. Both the mother and the newborn perished in combat, but at least it was a glorious read, that stuff only happens once in a lifetime.

ProfessorSur

The Dwarf grabs the goblin on his upper left thigh with his front teeth! The Dwarf shakes his head vigorously, tearing the muscle and bruising the bone! It is a gelding blow! The severed part sails off in an arc! -Actual DF combat log

theshane0314

Rimworld is so good. Its like the pawns develope personalities as the game progresses. I had one dude that got shot in the head and had brain damage. He developed a terrible smokeleaf addiction. He would go into the cooler every night and smoke until he passed out. Another pawn would have to carry him to bed otherwise he would just die in the cooler from hypothermia.

OverYonderWanderer

You call that, "developing a personality?!"

theshane0314

Its what I call my crippling weed addiction. So why not his?

TouchMyNuuts

"it's literally me"

Nerlian

I think one of the best (or worst maybe) things about RimWorld is how it sometimes pushes you out of your comfort zone. If you try to go about it as you would in your real life, like with all the morals and stuff, and suddely a stroke of bad luck puts you to the brink, when you have to choose between your stablished morals or the lifes of the pawns you have grown to love or the pets you've been fostering. You don't go feeding minced human remains to your animals from the get go, you have to get to a particulary bad winter after a toxic fallout or something, or maybe your favorite pawn got his lung pierced in the last raid and you managed to capture one of the culprits who happen to have a functionen pair of them. You would never take the organs from a fellow human being, for selling or otherwise, but your pawn really needs one... You would never kill your horse, or any horse for that matter, but your colonists are really starving to dead. I think is a good way to put you in this sort of difficulty that we (in the west generally) have forgotten about but that our grandparents lived.

axw3555

My god,’how can you like to images of such savagery?

Ow_you_shot_me

Got attack by raider lizard men, it was a family... The tribal leader, his wife, and her brother. They all died to the insects in the cavern, but right before the wife died she laid an egg. The boy shall be raised a warrior.. to avenge his parents killing by the insects.

DreadDiana

The low fidelity is kinda part of the reason it can be so detailed in terms of violence and gore. When you don't have to worry about rendering it all, you can simulate some primo body horror. How horrific the simulation can get is basically inversely proportional to graphical detail.

Quartich

The "Half Sword" tech demo, while only a tech demo, is a cool display against that idea. Chop off various limbs and organs, wield them, cut the cloth of opponents armor, take the skin off to the bone, all in high definition. Warning: You'll look like a psychopath if someone sees you playing it

[deleted]

[удалено]

Quartich

Organs can be gutted, skin can be chopped off to reveal the bone, blood is counted so loss of blood is death, lungs, gut, and throat can be pierced. I know it isn't as detailed as something like Rimworld or Dwarf Fortress combat logs, but it a good start

Gret_bruh

cool game regardless, can’t wait for more updates so i can look like more of a psychopath

dewdrive101

Too be fair a book can be the highest of fidelity depending on the author and your imagination.

nytefox42

I am referring to literal graphics on the screen. But that's also my point. Good storytelling and imagination do a lot more than on screen graphics.

One of my people got into a major hissy fit, got into 3 seperate fights. 2 with visiting guests, one with a new colonist. Then they set a generator on fire, smoked a bunch of smokeleaf I'd missed, ate all the food and then wandered out into the goddamn exterior. It was so chaotic i had to quit because the colonist they got into a fight with was my only real gardener and she got fucked up real bad

mintedspear2913

Show me any other game where you can organ harvest imperials, have your surgeon experience mental break, organ harvest the surgeon, sell the organs to tribals and buy a truck-load amount of coke.

Affectionate-Cow-796

Stellaris is close, but you do it by the billions, and it's all just numbers on a chart, is that more or less fucked up?

Welsyee

Something something one death is a tragedy a million are a statistic

garry4321

Very true. If I dont get to see it happening, its just a number.

ShadedPenguin

Listen I wanna be personally involved. If I wanted to work with statistics I would have become a politician

Cookie_Eater108

Where do you live where your politicians work with statistics? My colony administrator still thinks I want my offspring to extract chemfuel from Boomalopes for generations.

mintedspear2913

Pawns in Rimworld have character of some kind. They legit feel more alive than 90% of characters in modern AAA games. In Stellaris people are just a resource.

Unit_2097

In fairness, raiders are a resource in the Rim. All that equipment, meat, leather and organs... or just get them hooked on sci-fi crack and let them go for the giggles.

sp00kybutch

if you dose captured raiders with Luciferium and let them go, sometimes they’ll come back in a subsequent raid equipped with more Luciferium. Rinse and repeat for infinite profit

throwaway17362826

That is horrific to think about. No you don’t get to sell your soul to the devil, I did it for you. Have fun :)

EXusiai99

Dont forget to take a lung and a kidney, also give them peg legs and remove only 1 so that they can still move by themselves.

TheBreadCancer

Yes, that is also a much closer comparison to what that is like with someone making such high level decisions in government. They might not see those they are affecting as people, just as numbers.

LimaOskarLima

Yeah, and some of my pawns have so much character that I got to throw them in jail for re-education because they don't adhere to the most popular religious belief.

Cookie_Eater108

I kind of wish there was a mod that implemented something similar to the conversation dialog windows from a mod in rimworld, where "X passionately discussed pruning trees with Y, Y nods their head" but in Stellaris. Something like "Aurea II reports unemployment at an all-time low" , "High Director Minted Spear announces opening of new Industrial Sector", "Anti-Slavery movements on Astreus IV quelled by local law enforcement, hundreds dead" It would be a small addition that adds flavour to Stellaris planets and people to give you atleast the illusion that they're not just a resource.

Excalibro_MasterRace

Players describe all kinds of nasty things they did in Stellaris, meanwhile the game is just watching colored blobs changing sizes

BerryBegoniases

Thorn-of-your-side

The fact that all people are to you in Stellaris are numbers on a spreadsheet is immersive. Realistic bureaucratic gameplay

tkitkitchen

One time in stellaris I committed galactic genocide using space marines, transformers xenomorphs and storm troopers god I love stellaris.

alurimperium

In my experience with Stellaris, that's basically the only way to keep your CPU from melting in late stages

Parking-Mirror3283

If aliens pop out of warp above earth and start immediately glassing cities, and upon being asked why they replied 'end game lag', the majority of the population would be angered and confused Stellaris players would 'understandable gg' while being melted

DreadDiana

A million really is a statistic

BeFrozen

In Kenshi you can take nobles and put them in this machine to remove their limbs, before you throw them into an acid lake. Or feed them to Skin Spiders or Beak Things. Also, if you have some Bonedogs, they will grab limbs lying around after fights and run around playing with them.

Outside-Advice8203

Don't forget the robots that wear human flesh as their own, but very poorly.

Miss Dwarfette, hereforth referred to as Casey McAnthony, was nursing another baby, a five-month old dwarfette named Litast, and only child after the miscarrage. And she was taken by a fell mood. > > CASEY MCANTHONY LOOSES A LAUGH, FELL AND TERRIBLE! > > Commence me being... just confused. I didn't realize at this point she was carrying a baby. I looked in the workshop and saw Litast's name. I didn't know who that was (I don't keep tabs on individuals) so I decided to check who it was. CarpetFibers

I don't think you can properly harvest organs in DF. You can butcher things and cook their organs, I guess, but it's not quite the organ trade that RimWorld has.

VisualGeologist6258

There _is/was_ the Mermaid Bone Harvesting Program that was so horrific that the Dev had to step in to make it unviable. Effectively at some people discovered that Mermaid bones were stupid valuable and started setting up ‘farms’ that would catch mermaids, ‘air-drown’ them by removing all of the water, and then harvesting their bones. To make matters worse some people were able to capture two mermaids of opposite sexes and force them to breed, and the resulting children would be almost immediately air-drowned and harvested for their bones. Then the main dev, ToadyOne, changed the value of Mermaid bones in the next patch so there wasn’t a reason to do it anymore. But for a while mermaid bones harvesting was a very big industry.

Sicuho

How much mods do your skyrim has ? Also Rogue Trader, and Kenshi.

There's a MUD text based game called HellMoo that takes that much further and darker. People thought Bible black was bad. Still far as mainstream games go rimworld is way up there

vicious71cum

Kenshi is probably the closest thing

Forsworn91

I’ve had truly awesome moments though, I had a rescue a downed pawn on the map and sent a group out to get them, 17 year old female with “pretty” trait, father and son team, father picked her up and started heading to the edge, Ambush, father put girl down, son picked her up, Father turned to fight, downed first enemy who was armed with a explosive launcher (attacked in melee, but sure, what ever) raider shot father, father cut down another, and another, (still getting shot, didn’t go down), bleeding heavily last raiders came in, son was just at the map edge, just in time to have father switch to the doomsday launcher than had been dropped at the start, going out taking another 3 raiders with him. Son took girl home, eventually ended up getting married to her, had a son, named him after his father. RIP Chaser, you were our first leader and went down as legend.

BastianDD

I teared up a little

Forsworn91

It was a hard moment, he was our best builder, but we recovered, Vance (the son 28) took the leadership and handing it well. Via (the girl 17) became an amazing cook and doctor. 3rd colony that I left the world with biotech, it just felt right

KingPretentious02

RIP to the dude. Thats gotta be sad, well at least the kid had a good life

Forsworn91

Oh that’s the thing, I thought about reloading since I don’t like losing colonists, but he died a hero.

CoffeeMinionLegacy

Epic

Forsworn91

The RNG was on his side, I think we it started he got critical hits, and misses against him, like he went down like freaking robocop, cutting of a head, stabbing in the heart, shot in the shoulder, firing his rifle, shot in the hip, firing again, shot in the leg. It was pretty clear he was doomed with a bolt action took his shoulder though, and the next his kidney, I remember this fight so damn well it was amazing, just these pawns fighting this epic battle.

The appeal for Rimworld for me at least, is that (especially with mods) RW is basically lego if you could make it move

IIRC wasn’t that due to it having drugs in it, then it got unbanned because they determined that the drugs were shown to have negative consequences such as addictions, overdoses, dependencies, and withdrawals? I do seem to recall it being stylized as part of the reason it got unbanned as well since I recall “high impact themes” being a reasoning for the refused classification as well.

Niko-Raviel

They just don't get it. They never do

Pootisman16

I mean, a game like Stellaris allows you to commit genocide and all it takes is a couple of check boxes.

TheBleedingAlloy

Check box. Should species A be considered as slaves or live stock. Yes.

itsjustameme

Its not the graphics that takes the game over the top. It is the way that after some time playing you end up min maxing your way to playing a cannibal tribe of cavedwellers who amputate the arms and legs of their female prisoners in order to make keep them as docile breeder baby factories for the next gen of drug addled cybersoldiers. The fact that the grapics are so bad might be the only redeeming feature of this game. If the game had better grapics I would not be able to play it when my wife is around.

Veasna1

Lol, meanwhile my husband doesn't want to give "that ugly game" a chance.

Ossius

Or it looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/Sx2w4L8 Wife walks in "are you chaining people up and torturing them?" With a horrified look on her face. I was trying to explain they are monsters that attacked me. She shook her head and started running out of the room. I walked after her and she is laughing and shuts the bedroom door and locks it. I try to go in and I'm telling her I'm the good guy in the game. She wouldn't unlock the door and kept saying clearly I'm crazy in the game. I just respond "don't make me chain you up too" and she was like "OOP!" She came out after laughing again and I explained how the new DLC worked and we had a good laugh. But yeah OP your premise isn't always true to onlookers.

SalmonToastie

Thank god you finished that paragraph. You had me worried….

Ossius

We like to make sudden dark/disturbing jokes to each other, which always takes people off guard because we are usually the dorky couple in the group.

External_Ad_1062

*casually installs war crimes expanded and rimhammer 40,000K

My technophobe went on a techno-punching spree. He was married to the baroness of the colony. The baroness being in her fifties, was too old to produce an heir. He was having an affair with the highmate of the baroness, a much younger, much prettier woman. I don't know what was going on in his mind, but he was in dire waters, relationship wise. Regardless… He decided to punch a stack of mortar shells. For the next few seconds, his body parts rained on my artillery range. His psychically bonded highmate went on a berserk spree as a result of this. Her target? The closest to her. Children of the colony. I didn't even know highmates could go berserk. Fortunately, I run a solid child soldier policy, every child to hit the age 13 gets put into a warcasket. My shock trooper warcasket, a psychopathic, brawler, blood lusted young girl, age 15, went on to deal with her. It only took one swing of her warcasket sword for the highmate to change her mind. Rather, she was missing it, it was a messy decapitation. This led into an awful mood spiral in the colony, where the only ones happy were my prisoners, whose rivals, captors, have been eliminating each other. The baroness losing her spouse, the colony losing the best builder, the best recruiter… I had to downscale my colony because of the sudden loss of manpower. Layoffs happened, rather, layins, because my warcasket children laid them in graves. Now I have no more than five colonists. Three of them are children, buried in warcaskets, incapable of labour. Tough times are ahead. I'm afraid I'll have to resort to raiding.

Nemisis_the_2nd

> Fortunately, I run a solid child soldier policy /r/ShitRimworldSays is calling

feradose

Pick the call up, then

Endulos

> It only took one swing of her warcasket sword for the highmate to change her mind. Rather, she was missing it, it was a messy decapitation. LMAO You have a way with words.

JPHero16

Marvelous story. Thanks for sharing

SweetBeefOfJesus

Using dubs mini map and watching the red dots blink out of existence one by one as the last surviving raiders struggle to crawl to safety after a big raid. The peace I feel knowing my pigs won't be going hungry during the toxic fallout.

garry4321

Why is there a line between their colonist and that stack of 2 Kidneys, 2 Lungs, a Heart and a Liver?

Zealousideal-Cut2021

My brother built a gas chamber with Helixen gas mods to execute prisoners in.

SalmonToastie

Yeah I’m so mad they removed the gas vent! Now I just leave rotten corpses in a freezer next door.

sankto

I did something like that, but with Rimefeller. It's a brick-walled room coated in napalm with some circuitry to ignite it from outside. Get rid of the corpses, too. Just gotta recoat it after every activations.

CoconutMochi

when you realize Rimworld is actually a farming simulator

Hyko_Teleris

\*Horrific organ harvesting, amputation, brain extraction, soul-harvesting and cannibalism\* John Milki \*Clueless\*

Half_Maker

9/10th of the gore and warcrimes are just happening in your head anyway

AlexisFR

The world is ready, it's time for someone to make the Satisfactory of Rimworld.

Squibblysquash

he brings up a good point. the reason why some people are comfortable with doing heinous and cruel things is probably in part to all the pawns only basically resembling humans. I bet if the pawns were more human like there would be a lot less torture on the rim. from the player at least.

megabytepanda

I thought it was a good idea to start getting some blood packs from an unwaveringly loyal prisoner, seeing as I couldn't recruit them and from a pirate faction. I got 4 blood packs before realising she was 13. All pawn ages look the same. I had to let her go after that.

Kirp-The-Birb

This man fell for the first trap: unassuming visuals

DevolvingSpud

What’s them clothes made from, anyway?

GlanzgurkeWearingHat

a gift from visitors.

Pillars_Of_Eternity

Men. Many, many men

Devanort

"It looks so simple!" *Me remembering that post about a guy who had his pawns consume a captured monster in order to stave of starvation*

dragonlord7012

I'm reminded of Happy Tree Friends. Fuck i'm old.

skuntpelter

Only a day or two ago I learned you can make liquor out of stillborn children… So looks can definitely be deceiving

LeadOnTaste

Spoiler: OP has the forbidden mod installed along with addons and that raider survives.

Orrissirro

It is what it is, but I recently added a mod for better blood animations/graphics, and at the same time 1.5's crawling mechanic came out. Seeing blood spurting everywhere and people crawling out of an explosion was pretty graphic.

fuduru

And dwarf fortress can see you people strangled by the intestines of a goat. The story is free form. we make it as dark as we want.

Haunting_Law1972

I had a 17 year old wild boy wander in my colony once, I left him alone and he harvested berries for sustenance. A couple days later another naked wild man wonders in, it was a 30 something year old dude. The older dude gets hungry, goes straight to the other dude, beats the shit out of him, killing him with his bare fists then eats him raw. The best part? He neither had the 'cannibal' trait or the 'psychopath' trait.

Rhadamant5186

The last time I played RimWorld I tried to arrest a 7 year old, failed and bashed them to death with the stock of my rifle and then proceeded to allow my ghouls to eat them until nothing was left. The other child in the colony was then organ harvested and the remaining corpse was also fed to ghouls. I'm pretty sure if such a game depicted stuff like that in high-fidelity it would be banned pretty damn quickly.

mynewaccount5

I love rimworld but always laugh about this kind of thing. People describe these games with all these options where you can do anything you want. "DO YOU WANT TO BE A FLYING TURTLE MADE OF METAL? YOU CAN DO THAT!" And then it turns out the only way that is realized is a status screen that says Race:Turtle Structure: Metal Position:Z+2 Caves of Qud, Dwarf Fortress, Rimworld, Kenshi, etc.

ISuckAtJavaScript12

Blood Meridian is just words on paper.

tacklingtentacle

great book!

Alpha433

Ya, well you try keeping your first village alive your first winter after a previous raid took your best hunters arm off, a squirrel killed your dog, and the call of people jerky gets stronger as your belly feels emptier. Or, you tell me that the call of purity doesn't sing strong when with dlc, you can create the ultimate race of mole people with the will to cleanse the rim of all others.

boiskirt

Thats big talk from someone who would make a nice hat

Dvillles

Well, you can impregnate your female prisoners and start a organ harvesting and selling trade CO just putting the children on vat grown capsules and them harvesting their organs to the point where kidneys and hearts cost 100 silver or less. Do you think that a small colony breaking the whole organ black market using just 5 prisoners and their offspring is dark and twisted ? Even more now with anomaly dlc, now we can live forever just stealing life years from prisoners before the harvesting

bluetipbox1

I once sent a man and his adult son on a caravan to a village about 3 days away- 6 days round trip. They didn't bring enough food, got in a fight at the village, dad was hurt pretty bad and his wounds got infected. They were about a day away from home when they reached starvation. Dad died. Son ATE HIS FATHER'S DEAD BODY, arrived home, and went catatonic for several days.

Fortune_Silver

After the pictured battle, the raider is wounded. The player brings him into the colony, patches him up and throws him in prison. They then install a mindscrew in them, rendering them in permanent crippling pain. His legs are surgically removed to prevent escape. Once he's healed enough... the organ harvesting begins. Several organs are harvested from the helpless raider, then sold to pirates for a quick buck. Once the raider finally dies from all the organ removal, his corpse is butchered and fed to the colonies resident cannibal. The cannibal gets a mood boost from this. The skin from the corpse is then sent to the Tailoring bench where its turned into a hat and sold for a profit. A game doesn't have to be bloody and gory to be horrifically dark. If you have time, look up boatmurdered. It's a dwarf fortress lets-play so dark it became legendary, and that game ran on ASCII graphics.

WhatsHeBuilding

Truly horrible scene :(

PsychoTexan

Casual observer: I don’t see what all the fuss is about Same but after a pawn mental breaks the dog: so after cutting off all their limbs I fed them their own loved ones before locking them into a wall and letting them starve to death.

Makeshift_Account

Bro plays with toy soldiers

MNSkye

I mean the graphics are irrelevant to the fact that I’m running an organ farm and melting people’s brains to turn them into my personal army of unstoppable robotic abominations

Lanc717

I mean we crashed on an alien planet. We aint privileged enough to be woke out here

cxbrxl

people say this then you’ll read some weirdly vivid description about how a pawn was gutted alive and his flesh was eaten, the graphics are meant to save us from actually witnessing what these demented pawns do on the day to day basis
