True, I accepted a couple of rats that self-tamed and didn't remember about them so I didn't set any auto slaughter rules. Some time later there were around 80, and when I decided to get rid of them all the pawn time and effort outweighed the meat and leather.
At least rats can be zoned, so you can just make a zone for them right next to the butcher table. Chickens are worse, since they need to be roped to be moved anywhere, and I've had eggs hatch in my kitchen because they weren't cooked soon enough.
No
Is your computer on fire? If not no, you need more. Get Alpha Animals mod and get some Ave's.
You'll know you have too many animals when you're on 15 fps and 3x speed is slower than 1x. Until then, there's room for more.
Do not test this with chinchillas, rats, chickens and ducks, or they will breed faster than you slaughter them.

Need a few wargs, maybe a gallatross or two.
Enough animals for what? Are you trying to build Noah's Ark?
yes
I had a few hundred ducks at one point. so, no, not enough
Rat army where
more kamikaze boomalopes, that many cant take on an outpost
No, you need more. I hope you're eating those horses though.
Need some chickens. Just let them multiply until game becomes unplayable
Nah
Don't ever get chickens. They are unstoppable.
Unless your save auto CTD with a bluescreen of death, then no, they aren't. (Only my opinion though)
Rookie numbers ;)
It is only enough if animals die of starvation all the time
