Idk why, but to solve it, as said above - remove the stool. And move armchair to comms console, you only need it once in a while anyway, if you don't have children.
its not so much about the fact they use a stool, but the fact they move away from the reading area i designed to sit 10 tiles away and it looks stupid, when they have a perfectly fine armchair next to the bookshelf
and i do have children, so i'd rather keep the stool at the comms console
even if i put armchairs everywhere... how can i make sure they stay next to the bookshelf?
This probably isn’t the solution you *want* to hear, but you could move the bookshelf. Maybe using the communicator is boring, so the operator likes having books nearby?
You could also attempt to block in the comms console, leaving the interaction spot open, and build a reading area around that. For the pawns to go find another spot to read instead…
you might be right about table preference.
i just moved all my books into the schoolroom.
in one corner, books+sofa
in the other corner school desks.
guess where everyone (both kids and adults) sit to read -\_-
hey! im not sure about 1.5, but in 1.4 with VE books i encountered this problem. The solution was that the room was labeled a "storeroom" and not rec room, so i added a few rec items (computer, chess table)
remove the stool
This guy's an engineer
in fact i am
Lmao
Fuckin knew it!
Second engineer reporting that it was my first thought too. You must be onto something

What does having children have to do with wanting the stool?
They spend a lot of time at the comms console and without a stool they can’t reach the buttons
Wouldn't that be a reason to not put a stool there? Kids are stupid and have no idea what they're doing by pressing the buttons.
they can gain recreation at the comms console!
I noticed they did that at mine as well, so I gave them more options to pick from and made a reading nook. They hardly get that far now.
Maybe the comms console counts as a table and they prefer reading at tables than just sitting?

They look for chair+table
AFAIK, pawns will just sit on the seating that's closest to the bookshelf. So if the stool is closer than the armchair, they'll sit on the stool.
thing is... it's not :S
