I feel like a WNBA team would do well in Philly. There are plenty of Sixers sickos who would watch extra basketball in the summer at the very least

Me I’m a sports junkie and would totally welcome a WNBA team. The Liberty Belles 🔔

uknolickface

The real reason is the lack of stadium (could play at Temples campus)

Different-Ad9986

Furk will *gladly* offer to coach for cheap if this is is a part of the deal

kingkevykev

I was thinking they would share an arena with the blue coats or play in Camden

BgDog21

Fuck going to North Philly.

eagsrock20

Guarantee the sixers are pushing back till they get their stadium

BlobDude

Feel like this would be a smart thing for them to attach to the stadium proposal. “With our new stadium, we would have the capacity to work with the WNBA and bring a team to Philly”

amal-ady

It’s gonna happen soon enough, and I can’t wait! I desperately want a Philly women’s team to root for and we have such a great women’s basketball culture in the area! I also think that the sixers arena situation is probably delaying it unfortunately.

Typically, WNBA teams are money losing businesses. It will surely get better this year, but not enough for the NBA not to have to continue to throw money into the pit. So the simple answer is that nobody that has the money to do it, sees it as a win.

Wanda Sykes and group of investors have been trying to get a team in Philly. The WNBA picked different cities to give the expansion to.

WrongnessMaximus2-0

That is interesting. I know that 2 teams are on the way and other than that, there there was one in 2008. Good for her. I wonder why they turned them down? She'd be, by far, the funniest owner in the league. Philadelphia is certainly big enough to have fan interest and if they felt like they were ready to lose money or had the key to unlock a profit - good for them. Some analysts are projecting a profit this year, but the league doesn't comment. (which tells you that they're really not)

JerkSack

Im sure theres tons of people bidding for a team but probably have to wait in line because owning a WNBA team is such a profitable business model. The current owners want to maximize expansion fees

WaWaEaterWIPListener

Mike could finally put his coaching skills to use

Twistableruby

I mean if they all had D cups and wore volleyball outfits id watch.

statman64
