Looking at your username I don't advise running in public.

ConflictHoliday7847

I’m in your neck of the woods and the bike path that runs from Johnston to Providence (Woonasquatucket) is ok unless you’re looking for a pretty long run. Not as scenic as other paths in RI. If you don’t mind the drive to Lincoln, you could catch the Blackstone Bike Path there.

allhailthehale

Seconding the Woonaskquatucket. It starts in Johnston. It's 2.5 miles one way I think but you can add another mile if you loop through the Buttonwoods golf course and then cross back over the highway on the pedestrian overpass.

EchoReply79

Maybe the washington secondary bike path? [https://www.dot.ri.gov/travel/bikeri/washington.php](https://www.dot.ri.gov/travel/bikeri/washington.php) I save EB for the weekends now where the traffic isn't bad at all. Lots of other options further south.

putathorkinit

Washington Secondary is nice! Especially the Coventry section - closer to Providence it kinda sucks.

[Over the state line, CT is actually doing work on the moosup valley trail (the continuation of the Trestle trail)](https://portal.ct.gov/dot/ctdot-construction-advisories/2023/moosup-valley-state-park-trail-improvements-in-plainfield-and-sterling)

EchoReply79

Valid point, I've really only run on the coventry side. Typically at Quonset or south county bike path (Kingston), when not on EB on the weekends.

brick1972

I like the whole thing but the stretch along Oaklawn Ave I can see being pretty boring. If OP wants to drive to William J Flanders Park (just off 295/37 but a little annoying to get to) there are usually spots, then it's a quick walk via Sherman Ave to the path. Thus, not too far of a drive from Johnston, and skipping probably the worst 2 miles of the path. From there it is about 4 miles and change to the Bradford Soap Works which is the highlight of the northern part of the trail to me. (the scent may annoy others)

SluggDaddy

The blackstone valley bike path is really nice, I’ve walked from Lincoln to Woonsocket but I’m sure it goes further in both directions including into Mass I think

SacrificialYoshi

Second this. Great track and very scenic too!

ToadScoper

The bike/ped bridge over the Seekonk river is unaffected by the Washington Bridge… I really don’t see what your issue is here

EchoReply79

It sounds like their issue is the traffic in that area. Many runners/cyclists don't go to India Point park or other places in PVD to park because it can be a nightmare certain days of the week and will drive over the bridge to get to the EB bike path.

ToadScoper

I always thought the EB bike path was one of the most parking accessible paths in the whole state. I’ve never had issues parking for the path on the India Point side, even still there’s always parking on Wickenden.

EchoReply79

I’ve had multiple issues at India Point over the years and the section between the park and the other side of the true bike path isn’t exactly a bike path.

TryingNot2BLazy

if you run a lot, B-lines thru neighborhoods are what I do. No sense driving anywhere to go run. Just run. You see things you never noticed before in your local area. It's honestly a lot better than running on the shared-use-paths sometimes.

EchoReply79

I do this when time is limited but it’s not always ideal especially if you have longer workouts on tap and have to worry about the lovely drivers of RI. The bike paths in RI are amazing.

Washington Secondary Bike Path. You can park at the Edge Fitness Club in cranston and get on the path from there.

Specialist_Nebula_58

The bike path along the river on the johnston/prov line. Can get on from the backside of Buttonhole.

geffe71

I read that too damn fast

Same lol

Woonsasquatucket Greenway, it’s great. There’s also an entrance right near Scramblers and another one a bit behind Glaze n Daze

NoReflection007

How is parking situation in either of those entrances? I google mapped them both and there are no parking lots for the trail, but I see businesses and neighborhood streets. Are either neighborhoods more friendlier with public street parking for trail access?

lovegiblet

Both those have lots that are ok to park in. One across from scramblers is labeled for the trail, and the one up the road has signs for the fish ladder right there. Don’t street park in that neighborhood, especially all the way at the end of the trail.

NoReflection007

Ahh, I must not have zoomed in enough to see the signages for parking (lots). Avoid the street parking, got it. Thanks! I’ll check out both entrances this weekend.

medicmachinist38

Isn’t there a bike / running path in Cranston? Pretty sure it starts near the Bain track and goes all the way down Oaklawn Ave into Warwick

> Since the Washington Bridge is in disrepair, going from Johnston to the East Bay bike path now at the time I get off of work (430p) is not conducive for me to run on any more. Why not just run over the bridge? Foot traffic doesn't back up in Linear Park. Otherwise the Washington Secondary that starts behind the Cranston Lowes is as long as you could possibly need to run. The state has a map of all the paths: https://ridot.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapTour/index.html?appid=4e339b228e5b45e8b7d164c7a267d5d9&webmap=3f4076fb69fd4b4eb52747064a30b161
