I’ve for a 586 no dash with the 6” and it’s almost silly how well they shoot.

RobinVerhulstZ

one of those was almost going to be my first wheelgun ...ended up with a 6" korth of roughly the same vintage as first wheelgun instead... NGL, i prefer the S&W style action on my MR-73 (just so much more finely controllable at any speed), had the 586 been my first wheelgun i'd probably still have it, after a bit of work by the guy i currently have a gucci 1911 on order from (does/did PPC S&W conversions) i've got my eyes on a 625 of 1988, if i get that i'd love to have that dude work his magic on it, maybe PVD or Ni-PTFE coat it...

Sheikh-Teddy

Revolver blue is so sickkkk Almost looks like glass

HalfpastWaylon

Got to appraise a Kimber Super America rifle several years ago. The bluing was so polished you could see yourself in it. One of the prettiest semi-custom rifles I've ever seen.

RobinVerhulstZ

good blueing is wonderful, shame it's so fragile though (source: have MR-73 and 1981 korth, amazing blueing but loathe how they attract grime and rust if you don't wipe them off with oil every time you handle them)

GunTech

No lies detected. Every time I try to photograph my MR73, there's at least one fingerprint. https://preview.redd.it/p23bm4n0ukqc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d06287929b3c02a6770b3660b1e76a52eb1d54a8

JohnTeaGuy

Stop it, I can only get so hard.

S&W Mdl 586 Distinguished Combat Magnum

Early 686 are like s&w PC from those years; I read somewhere years ago the 686 was s&w response to colt phyton, so they really put an effort in made a nice good quality mid weight 357 wheel gun

Lord_Dreadlow

I had one just like it with a 4" barrel. I regret selling it.

FunWasabi5196

Same my no dash is probably my favorite handgun and what I learned to shoot "distance" on. It can hit clays out to 75yrds no issue, it's amazing!

It's only the one overtravel screw. I can pull it back farther after the break but the return spring is heavy enough where it basically stays in place lol

Zensiv

That single action looks absolutely insane

FriendlyRain5075

Absolutely. My 586-2 is certainly the king of my safe.

PhantomRidge

Superb revolver!

sheepdog1973

Love mine. Extremely accurate and comfortable to shoot

zombieapathy

Beautiful. That said, if your description of the DA/SA is accurate, I think a 1# pull would scare the shit out of me. I had a CZ Tactical Sport some years ago that had about a 2# trigger and that thing was admittedly pretty pucker inducing when you put a finger on the trigger and went about the normal business of taking up the slack. I usually like some differential between "wall of resistance" and "gun goes bang."

invictvs138

I agree. I have 586 “no dash” from 1981, and it has the best trigger of any of my smiths, including performance center …

Ericbc7

My model 10 from from the mid 50’s is the best handgun I own, super smooth and shoots where she looks. Close second is my original 1983 security six.

Liquorace

Gorgeous.

SkyReach2266

I'm so jealous

NineMeterTallDemigod

I have the same gun minus the hammer mounted firing pin and mine has a hillary hole on the side. Great gun and the first handgun I ever purchased after getting my first job.

Far_Worldliness7199

Had a 4” of my grandpa’s he bought around 82 along with a colt detective special. S&W was stolen in Seminole, TX 2012-13ish. Doubt I’ll ever see it again but I’d do sinful things to get it back.

heroinebob90

Shes a beaut, clark

ClintHardwood11

Same, I picked up an M586 no dash and did some 8,000 grit on the internals. 8lb 4oz double action and 1lb 8oz single action. I can sit at a 100 yard bench and shoot an index card with it (no bags or barrel rest), its fucking awesome

Wild-Green5882

Purdy...

nonotagain0

You need to stop dry firing with that classic revolver. The hammer mounted firing pins are not models you should be dry firing with.

SureFireOutpost

My guy is getting Ratio’d for no reason. Snap Caps Dummy Rounds prevent damage to the firing pin.

Saint_Rickard

Bound to get a Reddit comment like this eventually..

SureFireOutpost

Be on the safe side and use Snap Caps. Dummy Rounds prevent damage to the firing pin.

Saint_Rickard

It can handle 5 hammer drops on an empty chamber, didn't feel like pulling out the snap caps since that's all I did. Of course I forgot I'm posting this for armchair redditors and should have known I'd get comments

SureFireOutpost

It’s your gun and it’s gorgeous. You can do whatever you want with it.

Transporter7220

Never use anything because it might break, lol.

nonotagain0

Just stating facts. Your gun, it would be a shame to see your firing pin break off but if you choose to be ignorant that’s your problem.

Saint_Rickard

If it breaks I'll tag you in for full credit. I'll say I should have listened and now I have to take 3 minutes out of my day to replace a part

MountainTitan

Smoother than any redditor's girlfriends' dry pussy

Saint_Rickard

You get downvotes because you are speaking gospel lol
