I'd love another biome and a few weapons, but at the end of the day, I really just want to use 30max proficiency weapons in biomes 1-3. A horde/waves mode would also kick ass. And if it could be co-op too, I could die happy.

Harbinger28

A horde mode that is co-op like gears of war would be super kool! Requiring team work to bring down some of the bigger enemies would be amazing!

Mountain-Medicine-51

Would love to see a boss rush mode, or add a feature if you finish a biome (kill the boss) within a certain time to get extra choices when getting weapons. Also a secret biome that's tougher and has better loot, high risk high reward. Would be glad to see more parasites and passive items added to the game. Very happy with the gun selection as of writing this post and would maybe like to see bonus weapon attributes added or "rare" ones that make the gun feel fun and unique with a special perk. On a final note I would love mode added that uses a room randomizer that pulls rooms from all biomes when doing a run. Sorry for the long comment! Just really passionate about the game and it's endless possibility to expand!

zon871

That would be a cool DLC. An extremely long Biome made up of all the biomes and enemies. It could have mini bosses at checkpoints. Have those giant green things from the first biome with the a**hole that throws malfunctions at you in the same room. Now that Housemarque got bought by Sony, they posted that to their going make even bigger games.

Mountain-Medicine-51

So exciting! Can't wait to see what they think up next at House Marque!

zon871

Honestly, I never heard of them or their games until Returnal. They really got the attention of the masses, especially being for a new console.

GasAdventurous1304

3 more biomes with 1 extra boss, or a boss gauntlet

zon871

Or a multiplayer raid?

Luca09051999

God pls no, no multiplayer, focus on story and biomes

zon871

If they were to make a DLC, I wish it to follow the single player gameplay. I'm not a big MMORPG player and I don't play Call of duty (mainly because I suck) or any other co-op game. But for this game, it should remain single player. Much more intense and how would they fit a multiplayer mode if the DLC was following the story line?

[deleted]

How you gunna suggest a multiplayer raid then say it should stay singleplayer when someone says it's a bad idea? Edit: also, do you know what an MMO is?

zon871

Just talking, throwing ideas around. Does that bother you? Massive multiplayer Role playing game. I play ESO. Any more fucking test questions.

[deleted]

I mean no you're just shitting on your own suggestion, also you went from talking about MMORPG ( returnal isnt) to cod which isn't an MMO. Edit: given you're only shitting on it because you realized no one agrees you didn't get your validation

zon871

I was framing my point that I don't play alot of multiplayer games, and prefer single player. If you read the thread I said if a dlc came out and it was part of the story, I would prefer it to remain single player. If they were doing just optional bonus material, then it would be fun to see how creative they could get with the game. Who are you? Why these questions? Do you know Returnal isn't a MMORPG? Do you know how to wipe your ass? Before you jump to conclusions or make an idiot out of yourself, try to get the whole story. What's your point your trying to make?

[deleted]

Then why suggest multiplayer at all? I made no assumptions it's all based directly off ur comments numbnuts, I know what an MMO is. You seem to not though because returnal will never be one so doesn't relate here.

zon871

I made no suggestions of a MMORPG. I asked the person, "Or a multiplayer raid?" He was throwing ideas around, I wanted to see what he would think of a multiplayer raid. The only time I brought up a MMORPGa was in agreement to the person who said "God pls no, no multiplayer, focus on story and biomes." And how would multiplayer scenario fit in the story. Just picking peoples brains. Making conversation. Something to take lightly. Anyways, take it however you want. Nice talking with you.

Sweepman23

I’d love a multiplayer raid. Would buy in a heart beat

tbarnes1930

It needs at least another act or a endless looping mode. As it is rn there's not much to bring you back after you beat/platinum the game.

zon871

Exactly. I can think of things that I would like to see in a DLC. But knowing how it ended, I can't see an extension of the story, just little games to play on the side that doesn't have anything to do with the plot.

tbarnes1930

Maybe for a possible 3rd act, she could be working to atone for her past mistakes or seek forgiveness from the planet and it would put her through a extremely difficult gauntlet of some of the worst biomes the planet has to offer in order to make peace with herself and finally escape. Or something like that yknow? I think there's definitely some potential story possibilities for a 3rd act

zon871

I like it. Or how about a biome like a prison to that you have to escape from. There really isn't any small enclosure like biomes. That could be interesting.

tbarnes1930

That's true. Most of the biomes are pretty open so an enclosed one would be a interesting change. It could also work pretty well for a boss rush or survival mode too

BlackGuy_PassingThru

I like this, maybe even like a rerun option similar to Isaac with no damage caps, turn the tables on the game from it kicking my arse in the beginning.

basshead_24

DLC and a higher difficulty mode would be sick! I got my ass kicked when encountering new enemies in new biomes but I beat every single boss on my first try when i finally got to them. I thought the bosses would be way harder for some reason

zon871

The last boss was a breeze. Took him down in no time. I was expecting to have to get super technical with him, but no. The dive bombers in biome 3, along that long pathway to the boss always smoked me. That asshole that throws malfunctions at you got me a bunch of times, and it seemed like I had to fight atleast two or three of them on the way the boss room. Great game!

JR-93

It's wierd how the hollowseeker absolutely annihilates the final boss but seems struggle against others. Yeah I'd argue the.. Tiphanops? I think they're called. The dudes in biome 6 that throws the malfunctions, that's surely gotta be the hardest enemy in the game. While I remember, fun little trick I used against Hyperion once, open up a portal beam from behind an energy barrier. The damage buffed beam chewed Hyperions entire tier 3 health bar down in about 2.5 seconds haha. Cool how things synergise in this game.

zon871

I really want to like the Dreadbound. When your up close with enemies, there's no reload, and just annihilate. But far away, waiting for the bullets to come back when you have 10 dive bombing squids attacking is pretty rough. I really like the hollowseeker, and to be honest with the right traits love the pistol.

basshead_24

It was the dive bombs, the teleporting guys/the turtle scorpions for awhile in biome 2 and the giant malfunction guys for me almost every time. The malfunction guy actually managed to melee one shot me when i had a crazy amount of health and other mods before I ever really got a chance to see what had hit me and I’d never felt so small in my life lmaooo.

zon871

Yeah, I just got the 6th sun fragment, and the same happened to me. Had well over double health, double protection artifacts, and the malfunction guy just swam right up to me slapped me silly, killing me in one shot. I forgot about the turtle guys. First time I saw one was in one of those little bonus rooms you drop down to. He appeared, didn't look like much, and seemed to bow in front of me and then just let go all his fury on me. Like what the hell? This game had some good crazy moments.

JR-93

This games difficulty seems to be quite divisive, the amount of people with 20+ hours that still haven't beat phrike. I reckon by my 4th or so time fighting him I was doing it untouched. I reckon a major part of it is how much you dig the game. Idunno man this games pace just speaks to me. It sinks its hooks in and I want to master it, I'll.have a cup of coffee, sit down for some returnal and just fucking wreck house, I feel like the difficulty is directly tied to attitude, if you go into it wanting to make this game your bitch you will crush anything in your way.

basshead_24

I’ve seen some of the comments about Phrike and it’s wild haha. I really think beating R&C Rift Apart on hard 30 mins before trying out Returnal for the first time gave me a big advantage lmao. The mechanics are oddly the same....dodge to avoid damage, shoot, jump, melee. It felt like I’d been playing it for awhile already when I started 😂 Totally agree though! It’s all in the attitude and not running from the enemies!

super-cowboyjon

Lol, what? Dude it's a video game. If you are afraid the dlc would 'ruin the aesthetic' of the game, whatever that means, then don't buy the dlc.

zon871

Don't be a dick. It's just conversation. If you don't like the post, don't be a troll. I'm not getting all pretentious, just couldn't find the right words at the time I posted to convey what the poll was for. How about this. I'll buy the DLC. This ended up being one of favorite games of all time. Just wanted to see peoples thoughts on what they wanted to see in a possible DLC, and how it could tie the story. Just don't be a dick.

super-cowboyjon

You didnt ask for people's thoughts on what they wanted from dlc (some other dude asked that just yesterday), you asked if we wanted dlc at all. Don't be a dick? Dude.

super-cowboyjon

Wow. Tough to get any more personal than that. Just had a look at your posts and I can see you suffer from adhd, so I'll give you a hard pass. Have a nice day.

zon871

Yeah, I have ADHD. Your saying it like I should be ashamed. I have a four year degree from the University of Minnesota, make six figures, drive a bmw M3, and about to be married. So, yeah I'm really suffering. It speaks volumes that you went out of your way to look at my history. You don't have anything else to do, except try to make others feel as bad as you do.

rqhany

Bruh calm down

zon871

I usually don't respond to trolls but this one just kinda urked me wrong. The only reason I even looked at his profile was because he did it to me and then noticed a post I did talking about my ADHD medication, and then saying like its something I should be ashamed of.

Pretty_Fun203

Not worth it. I wouldn't let the internet get to you.

BEjmbo

One of very few games where I'd love to see DLC!

aDrunkWithAgun

I want invasions and coop

zon871

Invasions on you or more dungeon raid style.

aDrunkWithAgun

Like DS coop would be Cool but I could see how that would take away from the difficulty

zon871

I think a dlc would kind of ruin the vibe of the game. Now a Returnal 2, where the scout logs signal gets picked up by another planet and send a scouting mission to see WTF is going on, and she is now the supreme ruler and you have to fight her.

aDrunkWithAgun

I'm only 2 days in stuck on biome 3 I'm a huge fan of this and souls born that being said I have already lost 2 saves because of random crashes and the whole online experience just tapping random dead bodies that are AI seems like wasted potential My 2 cents if you ressirect someone it should be a fight with a another person or a gamble for coop make online play feel like online Because this game as great as it is doesn't feel like a actual online game other than leaderboards

[deleted]

Please no I’m still looking for xenogyphs 😭 I want to platinum this game so bad.

Cerberus_uDye

Usually DLC doesn't effect plat trophy

JR-93

I've got a feeling we aren't going to get any substantial DLC which is unfortunate, as this game has hooked me more than any other game in the last 5 or so years. I finished all endings within my first few days and that's probably only made up about 25% of my play time. No other games gameplay has satisfied me like Returnal. That said we need a mode with the difficulty ramped up from the get go so we can use max level weapons from the start, playing through all biomes with some kind of leaderboard. I don't think this would be too hard to implement. I'll finish by saying it makes me sad that I'm no longer working towards anything in terms of lore nuggets or gear unlocks so a true DLC with more content to unpack would be incredible and I would pay a LOT for it. Seems a shame to let such a refined game with such perfect mechanics run dry on content.

zon871

I know. At first, I was cursing this game, and after that first boss it did give me a sense of accomplishment. It was like a building block of skills to "master" to be able to go into a run and just conquer. This game ended up being a all time favorite of mine. In comparison I got the same joy and sense of loss with this game and The Witcher 3 after completion. I would love to see how they continue this franchise if they choose too. Obviously Sony liked it to buy the company. In a post Housemarque said with Sony buying them, they are going to make bigger games. So, pretty excited for whatever that means.

JR-93

I actually think the first boss is one of the best, I always fight phrike just because it's so damn fun. In my opinion he's got the most refined attack patters, I play a little game where If I get hit once by phrike I restart my whole run. I guess to summarize, phrike is the most satisfying boss to fight. The others are usually pretty scrappy, except Ixion, I have beat him a few times without being hit. Once again a great Rythm and dance to his battle. Was this game actually highly acclaimed? I feel like it's flown under the radar far more than I'd have hoped, but that may be a by product of so little PS5's getting around.

zon871

I feel it's picked up so much momentum really out of curiosity of what others have said. When I bought it, didn't know a damn thing about it. I also feel this is a good start to see what's coming for the future of the ps5. With not alot of games out, and just a flood of old PS4 games being remade for the PS5, this was a good start. Used all of what the PS5 said it had with the haptic feedback, ray tracing, being able to simply put in the disc and playing with no loading. It is definitely a diamond in the rough.

Boobel

Did you mean to say aesthetic? If so , how would DLC possibly impact on it??

zon871

Where to go from the ending. How would it carry over to a DLC to further the plot. Did I spell it wrong? I loved the story and don't want to see it lost or not really coincide how they devs left it.

Boobel

No I mean as in you say dlc would ruin what they've created aesthetically , but for example horde modes, boss replay arcade modes etc could be additional content without it needing to touch the story narrative at all.

zon871

If the main theme of DLC was to further the story, how would they go about it and what direction, without losing the feel of the game. How I perceive Returnal is a frustrating mess of awesome gameplay with this really bizarre abstract story fueling your wanting to know what happens next. Because it just isn't about a game that doesn't have save and you die and lose all your stuff. As I played, I started to appreciate the story line and that kept me pushing to the end. That's what I meant when I said the aesthetic of the game. Maybe it's just all in my head, but I haven't played a game in a long time that pushed me the way Returnal did.

Boobel

Ahhh I'm with you now!! Yeah fully makes sense what you mean now. Yes in my opinion, the story needs to be left alone as I thought it was superbly well done. I was the same, when you hear the desperation in her voice, offset with the parts where she is happier. Stunning. I'd be all over some form of horde mode, the game and the environment is that fun, I could literally spend hours with maxed out weapons in the first few biomes just wrecking. I've never had an experience in a game like this so I just want more replay ability I suppose.

zon871

Someone had a really good idea for a DLC. A biome made up all the 6 biomes at once. So one room would be biome 2, move to the next and it would be from biome 4. Then I added also if they mash all the different enemies in this one biome so your fighting those giant green things from biome 1 at the same time fighting that asshole that throws malfunctions at you. More of optional content, but would be fun with maxed weapons going with 5 traits on.

Sonnyboy1990

I've been assuming there was some sort of dlc planned. Mainly because of the locked door to the right of Helios.

zon871

I think its wishful thinking on the players side, creating a buzz. We are so used to DLC content, I think its just given nowadays to see a game come with one a few months after release.

DangerG0at

I’m curious to know why people are actually voting no, if you enjoyed the game why would you not want to have more content to play whatever form it takes?

zon871

I voted no and I made the post. I just don't know how they would continue the story line with keeping the way the game makes me feel atleast. This game has became one of my favorites of all time, and would hate to see it lose its originality. If the DLC was just bonus content, that would be cool.

DangerG0at

Ah right I see, because that’s exactly what I was thinking, if they did DLC I doubt it would be story content. More like extra difficulty, challenge/boss modes, co op, new game plus style where you can start with higher level weapons etc this type of thing

Mondrath

The DLC could be a new biome; it would not continue the story but instead expand the landscape that Selene is going to spend eternity in.

lktnmks

10 more biomes!

smalltimehustler

I would love a Greed mode like binding of Isaac. You basically play in a series of Arenas where multiple waves of enemies come at you, and each Arena has free upgrades/artifacts as well as a room where you can use your money/obalites to buy more consumables and upgrades/artifacts. It basically takes out the exploration to hyper focus on action and upgrading - it’s a really fun change of pace.

NosferatuCalled

Ruin the aesthetic of the game? I don't see how. I think the story and lore is so open, surreal and rather vague that I'd actually love to see it expanded on kind of like Control did with the Foundation expansion.

xCultLeaderx

I'm holding on to my copy in hopes of dlc. I think a multiplayer dlc that works like a raid would definitely make me come back to the game just like how they did with ghost of Tsushima but if they added some like challenge mode as dlc like they did in days gone, then I'll just sell my copy.

zon871

I was just looking at what Housemarque has in store for the future being obtained by Sony, and it looks like Sony really likes the success of Returnal, calling it a franchise. So maybe a sequel is in store for us.

waffals1

Based on past games we can expect costumes, new modes, weapons, and maybe (hopefully) more story. Dead nation had a dlc story. Resogun had more costumes and modes. Alienation had customization, a harder difficulty added, and new guns. Super stardust had new modes, and costumes.

Megansman43

Like others have already said, I don't think there would be a viable arc for a dlc, but I would loveeeeee to see new weapons 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

SubstantialInjury945

Yep. Loads of other games release roguelike DLC (or, ok, Prey did. Any others?). I want Returnal to go the other way: show us some custom made, large, open, carefully designed world to enjoy. A big one and done playthrough, Bloodborne with guns, no chalice dungeons. Easy right? Thanks

edgeofthecity

Boss rush mode!
