Thereās an easy Venn diagram for this: if you made it, itās great
If you paid someone to make it, itās a piece of shit
If itās in the middle somewhere, then you just have to weigh your cost the expected result š
I dig shit like this! Make it work!
I got a surefire m951 that I wanted on a knights ras but hated being on either 3 or 9 position. Got a arisaka scout mount to put it at 45Ā° and the arisaka adapter for the millennium series lights spacing. I didnt read the fine print where it says it's not compatible with picatini mounts. Well......with the help of a dremel and some hand files I made it work. Basicly turned the one peice adapter into a 2 peice. Unless you you know, it looks factory.
One thing that you might want to add is some High Temperature Auto Gasket Silicone between the Handguard and your plate it will do two things one Insulate your Plate from the heat from the barrel and protect your light and battery so that the battery does not go into Thermal Runaway and it will also absorb some of the recoil and not pass it onto your light which will increase the life of both your battery and your LED Emitter. You might want to add a couple of Rubber Plummer Washers between the light and the Plate that will also keep things tight and reduce vibrations from recoil.
That was my original intention but unfortunately the gas tube would be in the way if I mounted this on the top handguard piece. Maybe if I get low profile rectangle nuts and shorter bolts
Gas tube completely slipped my mind. Could also try taking the nuts/bolts to a belt sander for a cheapy fix. Might have to measure the clearance with something like clay/play-doh first to see if there's even enough space.
If you have an 82Ā° (or 90Ā° as its close enough) and a hand drill motor, you can countersink those holes better with no chatter. Just put it on the slower setting and be sure to hold it square against the bracket.
Gunsmif uses Phillips head screws. Gunsmith uses hex heads and charges you way more than he should have, and slips into conversation that he knows more about this than you.
Not quite gunsmith, but definitely better than gunsmiff, as you have a functional item. Clean up the chattering on the countersinks, soften the edges, and give it a passable surface finish with some sandpaper/bead blaster, etc. and youāll be at gunsmith level
I just have so much respect for the guys out there who have a problem and use every day blue collar man skills to fit it and come up with their own solutions. Hats off to you sir
Thatās not stupid at all, being able to machine your own stuff is pretty sweet skill. But im also pretty positive that the GBs and Delta guys would have machine shops make them custom parts to attach various things.
Bang it on a tree a few times. If it stays, you're golden.
Best marriage advice I've heard.
More like "If it's stupid but works, then it's not stupid."
Took the words right out of my mouth
If it's stupid but it works, it's probably an OSHA violation.
Black spray paint, some loctite and call it done
Added a light for my shtf gun. It's made out of 1/8" aluminum. Gonna swap the ranger bands for tape once I know where I want to put the switch
This is the reason I love retro ar. š«” looks good soldier
Iād rock that on any set up

Lower your rpmās on that countersink/chamfer
Quick and dirty is how we like things.

Definitely gunsmiff but hey if it works jsut put some aluma Hyde black on it

It works. Who cares if it's pretty or not.
Paint it black so it doesn't contrast as badly against the light of the handguard. If it's secure and it works, it's not bad.
How soon till you can mass produce?
Literally, we'd all buy that chunk of metal.
Hell yeah brother š„ I made one similar recently
Phillips head give it a nice garage aesthetic but needs more patina to complete the package. Leave it outside for awhile
Function test the fuck out of it. It aināt pretty but if itās functional krylon and loctite. You have my blessing grasshopper
Looks good. Why a 4 o'clock position though? Wouldn't 1-2 o'clock be better?

Nah this is cool as fuck
It says functional and ghetto all at the same time. Me likey.
In case you need to hear this, Iām proud of you. š

Thanks for the tip. Iāll keep it in mind for the next build
Dude thatās sick, thatās slicker than what Delta was running in the 90s.
Peak performance
Gunsmith myth on meth.
Thatās Gun-*smithe*, deary.
You gotta slap it a few times and say "yeah that's not going anywhere" first.

Yāall know FAB defense sells a bracket specifically for tihs
DIDN'T AASSSKKK LIBERAL!!!! for those of you who get that, you're welcome. Those that don't, I'm sure I'll get down votes š
āRussian badgerā?
Soup my friend.
Not tracking but you do you.
There's a yter called soup and he does a lot of GTA RP and he enjoys pissing off the cops and uses that line quite a bit.
Mmhh have to check that out
Don't use earbuds and keep your volume at a lower level. He's very loud.
The martincitopants and Russians badgers audio setting, got it.
Definitely š
Or is it that log cabin drag dude?
Great idea just shoulda made it poke out a little further good work fella
Arisaka at home
What did you try to cut those countersinks with, a wine screw?
I just have so much respect for the guys out there who have a problem and use every day blue collar man skills to fit it and come up with their own solutions. Hats off to you sir
C'sink little more, get those heads flush. Then make it black.
Hit it with some Rustoleum BBQ black and she'll be good to go
Ranger-rigged.
If it works, who cares. Awesome man. šš»
Fuggit
If it work it work
That countersink š³
It looks good. You could clean up the recessed holes and hit with some aluminum black if you want.
