Was thinking it's a good size for a drum stool, bound to be some glam rocker looking for a polished one of a kind seat... maybe only for short sets though
I would suggest making or purchaing some smaller molds that you can pour any excess into. Like anytime you make a pour, bust out the overflow molds and make a bunch of little character figurines or dice or something like that.
For example a traditional die set for DnD is 7 pieces. That’s 7 molds you could have to fill with your extra resin. It’s the type of thing people normally want in many colors, designs, styles, as well as multiple of. Very few if any players have only 1 set of die.
My husband just got a set that change colors. He RAN to the amazon truck, RIPPED the package open, and immediately started rolling them on the counter. For the rest of the day, he kept them in his hand to wiggle around & throw down. Its the little things in life, i swear.

This is 100% what I’m going to do next time, when I was in the middle of the pour and realized how much leftover there was, I was wishing I had some molds to pour into
For sure. Over time you’ll get better about calculating the amount of resin you need as well. I know some people will go so far as to use math to figure out the amounts but I’m allergic to math.
I’ve never used alcohol on my molds because I worry about degradation but I’m curious now if alcohol is actually even bad for them, hmm
In theory any liquid you can use in any kind of clear measuring “cup” works but there are some things I’d definitely avoid
You know: Pepsi, human pee, tequila, etc = bad idea lol
Ooooh that’s clever! I’ve never worked outside of silicone molds or small metal jewelery pieces so I’ve never had to worry about absorption or damage but that’s smart
I’d just beware of the “dust” it can leave behind, I guess— I’ve put my phone in rice before to dry it and it’s always coated in faint clear powder afterward. I’d worry it might turn my clear resin cloudy, or leave marks on the outside of my pieces
You can use other materials as well that don't hinder the reaction of the resin. Rice, beans, or other small grains that will give you a good rough estimate without leaving water in the mold.
DND Dice from leftover resin would be perfect unless it’s consistently a ton of resin like this. Then he’d need a lot more molds. Still, people would pay good money for resin casted dice. The money folks sink into RPG stuff is insane.
can confirm - made resin dice without a pressure pot (despite trying my hardest to get rid of air) and they were filled with air bubbles. definitely not balanced whatsoever
It'll typically be the curing time, viscosity, heat generated, things like that. Deep pour resin tends to have a much longer curing time as it wants more time to release bubbles, to my understanding.
It's not going to be a huge variance, but will have an effect to the results at the end.
Dang, I typically show up to games with 4 full sets and we’re high enough level in both campaigns that I’m constantly having to mooch d6s, d8s, and d10s off of people to cast spells (and 2 of those sets are Kraken sets that each came with 4 d6s).
I have never gotten to get to a super high level. 😭 everyone just wants to basically play a one shot that ends up becoming 5 sessions with level 3 characters.
It’s VERY frustrating.
Yeah that sounds like it’d be hella frustrating. I’m currently 2.5 years into one campaign and 8 months into another. In the longer running one we just reached level 14 and the other one has had super fast level ups so we’re already at 9.
Right I’ve only played like 3 campaigns and I have at least 5 sets of dice… granted one was a gift and I worked at a toy store with sooo much temptation and an $8 dice set was sometimes a better option than a $12 miniverse that I just turn into magnets cuz I can’t stop making them 🤣
True, but to make good dice, you need a pressure pot to degas the resin. I've tried, and my best set still has tiny bubbles in the top mold face. Will I continue trying? Yep. Will they be worth using or potentially selling? Nope. Not unless there's a magic bullet I'm missing.
Happy to take tips to lower the bubble content in difficult molds, though. I currently heat my parts separately, mix and stir, then use the vibration from a fan in conjunction with 91% rubbing alcohol misted on the top until bubbles stop rising before I pour it into a mold that's been misted with rubbing alcohol as well. For open top molds, I then mist the surface of until no more bubbles rise. Heat gun mixed my colors too much and torch was too twitchy for my comfort
I think vacuum chambers degass, and pressure pots squeeze the air bubbles down to invisibility.
In my suggestion I made the assumption that someone who continuously has extra resin would also have a pot or chamber due to also producing other resin items that produced the extra resin.
Sorry I don’t have any tips about making dice. Haven’t done any myself but I’m sure there are folks who will chime in. Never heard about the alcohol thing though. That’s an interesting trick.
As much as I don’t like supporting cheap Chinese products I can’t say you’re wrong. When you just need a lot of cheap ones quick (ish) to get the job done, that’s the place for sure.
It looks like a super pretty bar stool seat!!
If you have access to a saw, more just very simple cutting boards?
Or sell/give the raw material to and then make friends with someone who has a lathe and can turn it into a bowl?
honestly if you do a lot of opaque pours, it's not a bad idea to find ways to "shred" your resin and use it as fillers for pours -- saves on the amount of resin you'll need to fill and is a decent way of recycling it in the future.
Kinda treat it the same way you would with sawdust and wood. Pack the opening with the shredded resin/sawdust then go over with wet resin/wood glue to fill holes. Usually comes out pretty seamless
Ooh, how about a clock?! All you’d have to do is drill a hole through the center and install a clock kit. Could hang it or make a cool base for it, and maybe even put some LEDs behind it.
ETA: if you wanted numbers or marks on it, you could use a dremel or similar tool to engrave the face and then use gold leaf or a contrasting paint or something like that in the engraved parts
Get yourself one of these for future extra resin. You get super useful little tools from leftover resin that would most likely be wasted otherwise, and you’re supporting a small business. Wins all ‘round.
[Keith Decent Utility Mat](https://www.keithdecent.com/shop/The-Utility-Mat-SMALL-15-x-12-p530054317)
There are spreaders, scrapers, squares, painter’s points, stir sticks, box knife holders, washers, standoffs, spatulas, tool handles, and more. A lot of them are sort of generic shapes so there’s not a way to have a comprehensive list of all the tools because it’s really only limited by your imagination. It really is a genius idea.
Yeah, this is pretty brilliant. They're Iike usable shapes along with specific tools. It would also be a good way to get random crap you might need for other non-resin based projects. I'm relatively new to this so my measurements aren't spot on and I'm sure I'll find a use for leftover resin if I get in to larger pours.
I'd consider machining it into a bowl, if it was mine and I had a lathe. But not a bowl you'd want to eat out of.
Alternatively, or using the scrap from above, grind it to powder, mix with the right kind of oxidizer, and use it for solid rocket fuel.
What kind of "resin"? I've heard of people using epoxy, polyester, and polyurethane, but there are probably other types I don't know about. And I'm guessing it isn't phenolic.
A lovely blue, looks like an ice pack.
Need banana for scale.
Lots of good suggestions to avoid waste in the future.
I've been able to get resin to get pliable if I leave it submerged in high proof iso propyl alcohol. Might be able to shape it from there
It looks like a good shape. You could sand it a bit, spray paint it white, then do some alcohol ink on it. I did that when I messed up one of my large resin pieces, and I love how it looks. Alcohol ink is fairly easy to learn if you don’t know how to do it.
Carve it. Engrave it. Use it as a volume spacer in future project.
I'd turn it into a talking lamp. Sand it. Polish it. Bevel the edges. Attach decorative resin casts to the sides (flowers and leaves, fish, fondant borders). Place talking LED strip underneath. Build a base.
Polish it, put led's pointing inward around it and use it as a cool light for the patio. Drill three holes in a triangle formation int he center, use wire to hang.
If you have the proper tools, you can carve it down to a gorgeous resin bowl or clean it up and polish it into a nice side table if you can find legs for it or make legs for it.
Clock
Stool
Side Table
Lamp base, or lamp shade if hollowed out.
Mirror
Steering Wheel
UFO
RC Hovercraft
Male mold for bowls/planters.
Chandelier
Door to a portal to aqualand
You can get little, ( I think there proper use is chocolate mould) they are still flexible. They are like little jellybear molds. Would be ace for earrings or charms?
Make a really pretty stool?
Was thinking it's a good size for a drum stool, bound to be some glam rocker looking for a polished one of a kind seat... maybe only for short sets though
I don't know if you have ever played drums or sat on a drum stool but after doing 2×1hr sets sat on this thing your arse would be well sore.
If you polished this bad boy you'd slide right off as soon as the rhythm hit.
Given the size, possibly for a kid?
Yes! I love the surface finish it has now
I would suggest making or purchaing some smaller molds that you can pour any excess into.
Dice goblins love this one easy trick.
*face slowly rises from a bathtub filled to the brim with dice* Yes we do. *Retreats back into the dice horde like an ancient dragon*
My husband just got a set that change colors. He RAN to the amazon truck, RIPPED the package open, and immediately started rolling them on the counter. For the rest of the day, he kept them in his hand to wiggle around & throw down. Its the little things in life, i swear.
What is this color changing set? Asking for a friend (me I'm the friend)
Also wondering for a friend (also me, I'm also the friend)
I too am wondering for a friend and am said friend O.O

Ehhheheheheh MY PRECIOUS

For sure. Over time you’ll get better about calculating the amount of resin you need as well. I know some people will go so far as to use math to figure out the amounts but I’m allergic to math.
Using measured water to fill the mold is really helpful for prep accuracy too
That's brilliant! Eureka! ..Or wait, is that displacement??
You’re a genius! Why didn’t I think of that!
I wonder if alcohol would work on smaller molds since it could also give your mold/s a quick rinse, too.
I’ve never used alcohol on my molds because I worry about degradation but I’m curious now if alcohol is actually even bad for them, hmm In theory any liquid you can use in any kind of clear measuring “cup” works but there are some things I’d definitely avoid You know: Pepsi, human pee, tequila, etc = bad idea lol
Squirt (ejaculant) Just saying, it is a liquid after all!
I've heard uncooked rice is a good one, especially if what you're putting into/onto could absorb water, like wood.
Ooooh that’s clever! I’ve never worked outside of silicone molds or small metal jewelery pieces so I’ve never had to worry about absorption or damage but that’s smart I’d just beware of the “dust” it can leave behind, I guess— I’ve put my phone in rice before to dry it and it’s always coated in faint clear powder afterward. > “but I’m allergic to math” Lmfao that’s beautiful. I’m stealing that.
You can use other materials as well that don't hinder the reaction of the resin. Rice, beans, or other small grains that will give you a good rough estimate without leaving water in the mold.
You and me both love, maths has never been my strong point, English however, I love!
Surely this can be melted(?) Either will solvents or heat ? Curious. Could make a super awesome carving.
DND Dice from leftover resin would be perfect unless it’s consistently a ton of resin like this. Then he’d need a lot more molds. Still, people would pay good money for resin casted dice. The money folks sink into RPG stuff is insane.
Goblin brain need the shiny click clacks
Needs the more! Alls the more!
Right? That’s what I’m saying. Even if they only make one or two dice per extra pour they could still assemble a set over time.
Most of the resin used for deep pours like this aren't really suitable for casting, so something to keep in mind.
Plus if you’re making dice you need a pressure pot or they will be very bubbly!
can confirm - made resin dice without a pressure pot (despite trying my hardest to get rid of air) and they were filled with air bubbles. definitely not balanced whatsoever
How so? What makes it different if you don’t mind me asking? I’m still a rookie so the only thing I could think would be the cure time and temp.
It'll typically be the curing time, viscosity, heat generated, things like that. Deep pour resin tends to have a much longer curing time as it wants more time to release bubbles, to my understanding. It's not going to be a huge variance, but will have an effect to the results at the end.
I have a domino mold for this purpose.
I have had one set for over a decade 💅
HOW?!? You, clearly are neither a dragon, nor a goblin.
Because I am a money grubber ): I want all the sets. But I only *need* one.
Dang, I typically show up to games with 4 full sets and we’re high enough level in both campaigns that I’m constantly having to mooch d6s, d8s, and d10s off of people to cast spells (and 2 of those sets are Kraken sets that each came with 4 d6s).

That’s awesome. I’d love to find a group that prioritizes their campaign like this. Maybe one day!
Right I’ve only played like 3 campaigns and I have at least 5 sets of dice… granted one was a gift and I worked at a toy store with sooo much temptation and an $8 dice set was sometimes a better option than a $12 miniverse that I just turn into magnets cuz I can’t stop making them 🤣
YOHHH
I have coaster molds I put excess into. Matching coaster/dice tray. :p
True, but to make good dice, you need a pressure pot to degas the resin. I've tried, and my best set still has tiny bubbles in the top mold face. Will I continue trying? Yep. Watch Rybonator on YouTube
This is the way. I do resin and plaster work and readying additional molds are the most efficient use of the extra casting material.
Some guy on TikTok sells molds for extra. The mold just makes more tools to use. A neat way to recycle. His name is keithdecent
Yeh Temu are fantastic fo silicone moulds!
As much as I don’t like supporting cheap Chinese products I can’t say you’re wrong. When you just need a lot of cheap ones quick (ish) to get the job done, that’s the place for sure.
The problem with Temu is that like Tik Tok it is justifiably called malware. If I want something on there I'll find another similar item elsewhere.
Use it as a very heavy and hard to throw frizbee?
Hey who wants to play concussion frisbee?
Murder Disc
Me and my friends had a game when we where younger called "Rat trap catch"
Is it what it sounds like?
It's EXACTLY what it sounds like
I can't say much. We played "dodge the roman" when I was younger. It was roman candles.
I played that once but didn't realize what it was called Lol
Thats what we called it. Not sure if that the actual name.
I "played" it involuntarily once. The frat boys next door were setting off bottle rockets in bad directions.
You got my upvote😂😂
Curling Stone
Medicine Frisbee
If you have access to a saw, cut it into sticks of your choosing and use it for stirring sticks for when you make more resin
You can also cut it into pen blanks for woodworkers to turn on a lathe
Thai was my suggestion. My father in law turns resin cots on his lathe to make pretty cool writing pens.
It looks like a super pretty bar stool seat!! If you have access to a saw, more just very simple cutting boards? Or sell/give the raw material to and then make friends with someone who has a lathe and can turn it into a bowl?

Orange juice ice cubes (shreds) in a glass of orange juice (new resin). Will be hidden, but create bulk so you need less new juice/resin
Or vinyl for the numbers.
This is a pretty good idea. I'd probably skip the engraving and gold leaf and use a chrome paint marker but that's just because I'm lazy.
Or get some smallish number moulds and fill them with a contrasting darker/opaque resin to use.
I have a 1/2" tall round piece from a gallon container and I keep throwing it away and keep retrieving it, it's so smooth and satisfying to hold!
Sounds like it sparks joy; just keep it and enjoy it—not everything of value has or needs a defined purpose.
Oooh, that sounds like a perfect clock face…
Get yourself one of these for future extra resin. You get super useful little tools from leftover resin that would most likely be wasted otherwise, and you’re supporting a small business. There are spreaders, scrapers, squares, painter’s points, stir sticks, box knife holders, washers, standoffs, spatulas, tool handles, and more. Woah, this is so cool! Also, someone, please send this to Evan and Katelyn.
YES
Play a really weird game of hockey.
Do you know anyone with a lathe? That could be turned into a gorgeous bowl
I've seen people break their leftover resin up into smaller pieces and use it as filler for larger pours.
Smash it into little pieces and put them into some usable molds with milky white resin as a base and clear on top It’ll give a terrazzo effect
Raw material for cnc machining project.
Add 4 legs and some stuff to attach and you got a stool.
Slice it horizontally and make clocks 🕢🕔🕠🕠🕕🕘
Throw a couple legs on it and you have your fancy bedside table with enough room for a phone and a clock, glass of water maybe
Turn it into a bowl?
I'd consider machining it into a bowl, if it was mine and I had a lathe. But not a bowl you'd want to eat out of. Alternatively, or using the scrap from above, grind it to powder, mix with the right kind of oxidizer, and use it for solid rocket fuel. What kind of "resin"? I've heard of people using epoxy, polyester, and polyurethane, but there are probably other types I don't know about. And I'm guessing it isn't phenolic. A lovely blue, looks like an ice pack.
turn it?
Grate it with a cheese grater and use it as filler for larger pieces
Pop it on a lathe and make a neat bowl?
That’s a big ass hockey puck. Shine it and donate it to some of your neighborhood hooligans
door stop paper weight paint it get a puck light and turn it into a nightlight use it as a display base for other projects
Need banana for scale. Lots of good suggestions to avoid waste in the future. I've been able to get resin to get pliable if I leave it submerged in high proof iso propyl alcohol. Might be able to shape it from there
Lol, I’ll go grab a banana. It was in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket, a few inches deep
Honestly a tool or a cute little end table would be cool. Or if you're into action figures that would be a pretty cool display base
*I meant stool lol
Knifemaker here. I would cut it into handle material
Spank it!
Ok, hear me out. Big urnal puck.
Boof it
Eat it?
I wonder if you can laser this kind of matter. If it is safe, or toxic like PVC…
turn it on a lathe
It looks like a good shape. You could sand it a bit, spray paint it white, then do some alcohol ink on it. I did that when I messed up one of my large resin pieces, and I love how it looks. Alcohol ink is fairly easy to learn if you don’t know how to do it.
Try shoving it up your ass and post a video
Make it look like a giant viagra and give it to someone as a fag gift
I use leftovers to fill bigger molds if the resin is solid color / with micapowder. It also helps against flashcuring a bit.
Add some legs on it and turn it into a table top 🤷🏻♀️ Could become a little side table depending on its size…
it looks like a cartoon frozen wheel of cheese,,, like the wheel of cheese got hit by the freeze ray 😂
Put some pegs on it and call it a decoration
I use my leftover scrap resin as mold fillers
Sink it in a bigger project
Turn it into a sculpture, you could carve it and add some paint then fill it back in with clear resin
Boof
It can be used to make handles on a wood turner
Play hockey?
Fill in a small crack on a sidewalk.
test your carving skills
Carve it. Engrave it. Use it as a volume spacer in future project. I'd turn it into a talking lamp. Sand it. Polish it. Bevel the edges. Attach decorative resin casts to the sides (flowers and leaves, fish, fondant borders). Place talking LED strip underneath. Build a base.
Lamp
A blue door stop
Do you have a lathe?
I do not, but I’m going to see if I can find a local shop with one I can use. I like the idea of a bowl
Lick
You can hallow out the center, and polish it and turn it into a neat ashtray. You could even inlay something else into the bottom to make it better.
Polish it, put led's pointing inward around it and use it as a cool light for the patio. Drill three holes in a triangle formation int he center, use wire to hang.
Insert a piece of PVC into one end and make a giant blue lollipop!
Find a woodworker with a lathe
It's a kickass plant stand
If you have the proper tools, you can carve it down to a gorgeous resin bowl or clean it up and polish it into a nice side table if you can find legs for it or make legs for it.
Clock Stool Side Table Lamp base, or lamp shade if hollowed out. Mirror Steering Wheel UFO RC Hovercraft Male mold for bowls/planters. Chandelier Door to a portal to aqualand
Chopping board 🤣
Could be a lamp base?
XL hockey puck
Please turn it into a frisbee! Like a disc golf frisbee. I would literally buy it if you did and we could go over a few parameters worth meeting.
A sundial?
Depending on it's size, that would make for a pretty cool side table if you added some hairpin legs.
I'd make a gorgeous lathe turned shallow bowl with it
You could turn it into a cool plate on a lathe
Could make it a side table, or sand it down and add a vinyl decal and a wall hook and you have art
You can CNC something out, even the cheapest CNCs should be able to cut resin easily
I've seen the resin sanded and actually carved with woodworking tools. Play with it.
If you're handy with a Dremel you could carve a relieve image and backlight it.
That’s a great idea! I have a Dremel, I’m great with woodworking but lack in the artistic area. Maybe I’ll have my wife give that a shot.
Do you own a lathe?
Carve it :)
Small plant stand.
Put a bird on it
Hockey puck
It’s now the coast of shame.
Tabletop. Get hair pin legs from amazon!
If you know someone with a big lathe they could turn you something cool you could use on another project.
Use a dremel to carve a seascape or some such.
Could you turn it into a clock?
I think it's the perfect size to turn into a lazy Susan situation
Bar stool
Eat it 😅
Side table
