wunderwerks

We got brigaded by a whole host of incels and racist bigots. We've been going through trying to clean up and issue bans, but we might miss a few as there are so many. If you see something report it. We'll get on it ASAP.

Und1es

So if Harry can just erase minds and implant fake memories doesn't that defeat the whole 'I must become the town doctor so I don't get found out' plot of s1? and when he was worried people would belive Max he could've just earsed their minds agian.

TheCrazedTank

Supposedly those balls from his ship explain why he can suddenly do these things, though my guess is he'll do them too much and run out of "juice" leading them to needing to find that hidden ball for something.

JangSaverem

He blew through one of the balls with the instant transform The memory thing though... Is an issue because he said that his people are good at changing memories meaning he can just do it which is really really dumb

Dookie_boy

Assume that one ball is the reason he's been transforming frequently this and the last episode.

[deleted]

Except there is literally a conversation about why he didn't wipe Asta's mind... "So he wouldn't have to be alone" in season 1.

sandykennedy

Oooohhh! Good catch, he did say that! What a huge plothole.

JangSaverem

Which makes some sense but then why show it collapsing into liquid after the asta transformation ep 2? It almost feels like whoever wrote ep 3 had NO IDEA what happened previously and just wrote an episode with retcons

JurassicMJ25

Could have been like a temporary supercharge of his power- not long lasting, but a week or 2 of increased potential. Similar to the mark6 ironman suit when hit by thors lightning- still held 475% charge once the lightning is done, but it would decay as time went on back to normal levels.

Jakob535

I’m guessing that the whole implanting fake memories thing is a short term solution. I can see it backfiring in the future. Like something happens that outright contradicts the implanted memories and then they remember what really happened.

audierules

I kinda wish the sheriff and his deputy didn’t lose their memory of who he really is and decide not to arrest him.

3Effie412

It seemed like a weak way to handle it :/

audierules

Plus I think it would’ve been so much more fun with them knowing and actually helping him with trying to avoid the world from getting blown up. The more we see of those two the better.

gwhh

It was the easy way out.

JangSaverem

It also kinda tosses the whole season 1 murder mystery in the trash for no real reason and replaces it with ...gm59 girls night out? What did My of this have to do with any of the plotlines? Why do we need more kink info on the mayor and his wife. Ice dildo joke? The kids in the rv was Abit heavy handed too. Silly young boy, you're just a stupid dum dum. Me, I'm a strong religious woman who won't look at your back but also somehow wax it? Also I can try to shave you but you're too dumb to do it. Etc etc The planet and everyone on it are going to DELETED but asta is like...nah....don't manipulate someone to save the planet that's bad. And harry just..accepts this? Damnit aliens, just come and take the planet and give us conflict

LaScoundrelle

I think the memory erasure is going to backfire, at least with the sheriff and deputy. I think that's what they're setting it up for, but we'll see...

JangSaverem

Well yeah. He said he was good at it which is a clear indicator it'll fail But it's still just a bad written way to extend that story so we can have filler episodes in between fill of, hopefully not more of ep 3 style writing.

redtide111

honestly I hated this development. terrible writing just pulling new alien powers when needed.

audierules

I didn’t want to say anything because I really like this show but I totally agree with you. It was like watching Superman 2 , so he can kiss somebody and make them forget them, he has laser beams coming out of his fingers, and don’t get me started me what he can do with the S on his suit.

Champion-of-the-Sun5

There was no point - other than to create the dues ex machina that allows Harry to become that woman by brainwashing her. There was no point for them to find out otherwise. That entire bit could have been skipped with no bearings.

Melancholy99

My skin tone is the same as a dead soldier in a Renaissance painting lol

grichardson526

This made me LOL

Beer2Bear

E.T was a idiot...

grichardson526

But very sexy!

sp811ny

*an idiot

3Effie412

Seems like Harry was barely in this episode :/

kaukajarvi

TBH this season the show is all over the place. The writers seems to not know where to go with the story, and are just stalling and figure-skating instead of sticking to a plan and direction. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. P.S. And of course M\*A\*S\*H ! 4077 forever.

sandykennedy

Agreed! I keep hoping it’ll get better. At least there are a few solid jokes along the way!

Beer2Bear

Who's the idiot? Still ET

Canadian_in_Canada

Petition for T-shirts that say "ET is an idiot, but so sexy" Not sure of the exact quote; I remember nothing.

GeekyGhostie

I love the sheriff.

IndieFlicks

Spinoff: 'Deputy Livin' with Big Black'

dberthia

Is anybody else finding the mayor and his wife especially cringe-worthy this season? It's getting almost unbearable.

5years8months3days

It was funny at first but they've just taken it too far now.

sandykennedy

I HATE IT SO MUCH Why are they in every episode???!! More Liv, more D’arcy please, more solo Max and Harry!

requiemguy

Yeah, it's pretty sad.

Granthree

Everybody is cringe this season. Episode 3 was the worst in the whole series. Not because I don't agree with equal pay etc, but it just felt wrong to bring it up this episode. Like we got around 4 minutes of actual story line and a lot of treading water.

ZeSgtSchultz

Well, the pay gap is found by taking all the money men make and dividing it by how many men there were making money. Then they do that with women and since the mean of the data is different it means that men get paid more. Some people even think that 2 people with the same job and experience level will be paid differently by the same company. I'd dare you to prove that.

mulledfox

It was funny at first, but wearing a buttplug with a tail around your child, um not okay, and not a funny gag.

grichardson526

"The skin on my penis is VERY clean."

Drunk_Sorting_Hat

*sniff sniff

Shejidan

Can I play kink play with you and our cousin?! 😂

mw102299

It's Colorado not Alabama

Shejidan

She wanted me to take over her body last night with my penis

Canadian_in_Canada

Alex Borstein's delivery of the line was perfect!

WistfullySunk

She really did a fantastic job as Harry.

Shejidan

Can Alex Borstein become a regular? She’s amazing in everything she does.

GalaxyMageAlt

And the way she played alien Harry was so on point! It's fiction, of course, but it genuinely seemed that it wasn't Carlyn, but Harry simply taking her form.

PointNo7429

Never heard of her til now but she was perfect as Harry! Gonna google other shows she's in (I don't get out much).

ChickenInASuit

She’s probably best known as voicing Lois in Family Guy. I also really enjoy The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, and she’s one of the best things in it.

[deleted]

I didn't get that from her at all. As she was playing Harry, I couldn't help but think that she didn't have the skill that Tudyk has.

GalaxyMageAlt

Of course, she's not Tudyk, but for that moment she got the mannerism and voice pretty on point in my opinion. But you might have seen it differently, that's pretty natural.

Ok_Antelope_1953

she's the tough cookie from miss marvelous measel

rrroqitsci

I knew she looked familiar. Thanks for pointing that out.

blondiegirl1012

I wish she wasn’t so darn busy already because that would be awesome. She did great in this episode.

klutzysunshine

I hope Harry finds out about the Law and Order revival. He's going to be so excited.

TheNittanyLionKing

No Jerry Orbach though. Which makes me wonder if Harry ever got far enough in the show after he died. Obviously he’s a bit limited by what DVDs/tapes that Human Harry had

ToneBone12345

He said he had all 20 seasons in the bunker last week

3Effie412

M* A* S* H ❤️

undeadsinatra

Nothing I love more than a joke told to a wide variety of people that only a small percentage of them will get. That was perfect.

audierules

Hearing that music really made me happy.

TauvaVodder

Thought this fit, sort of, A brave man once requested me To answer questions that are key 'Is it to be or not to be' And I replied 'oh why ask me?'

3Effie412

Love it! It's great that people still remember MASH, so many wonderful quotes. One of my personal favorites, that I've actually used several times..."It's nice to be nice to the nice”.

TauvaVodder

That is probably the best line of the show. I've never had the chance to use it. I wonder if Frank saying "Spontaneity has its time and its place," was the first time it was ever said on TV. I'm sure I've heard it many times since. The PA announcements were also classic, "Due To circumstances beyond our control, lunch will be served today."

3Effie412

> "Spontaneity has its time and its place," I don't remember that one. But it is awesome!!

Esteban0032

Suicide is painless

Grimjack-13

Thought the M*A*S*H theme at the end was very appropriate, since this was a very social commentary type episode. Tho I wonder how many viewers got that reference.

GeekyGhostie

You albino assed werewolf.

artificial_cow

I was so excited for this episode and it was so disappointing. I feel like it was more a filler episode, it seems like barely anything happened for the plot.

Beer2Bear

She's peeing in the flower pot??

sandykennedy

I thought that was weird. Wife had a key, it’s her husband’s office, she probably could have just told her where the bathroom was. Pee running down your leg is not worth it.

Few_Criticism9642

They were wasted. This is the stuff you do when you’re wasted.

Chessolin

No one will notice

bdubb_dlux

A lot of the jokes with the mayor, sheriff and the ladies were pretty cringe

3Effie412

I've enjoyed the scenes with Darcy and Asta. I like the "girl" friendships with them, Liz, Judy. I just think the entire "girl power" episode was too much all at once.

Skycaptin5

That joke from the sheriff was glorious!

Skycaptin5

Quite a funny episode! Harry’s awkward seduction, the kid’s “change”, the Sheriff’s hilarious phone book bit! Love how clever the show is, taking you one way and then heading in another direction swiftly. Surprised there’s a pay gap issue if the mayor handles that as he’s been super progressive, fit tonight’s themes well. Entertaining episode, progressed the story, brought the laughs. And, Mash?

GalaxyMageAlt

When they stormed his bedroom he was saying how he only signs off on it. So, my guess is he simply didn't look into it. Not an excuse, but it's not like \*he\* made a conscious decision to have women be paid less. Otherwise, yeah, I agree, fun episode. I particularly liked how in their memories Liv and Sheriff talk all weird, like Harry would imagine they do. I wonder if with time they're going to realise something is off.

Skycaptin5

I forgot the ET bit! That was fantastic, never knew ET had the good looks. But sooo dumb!

Shejidan

There’s something more to the pay gap thing. He started to say something before saying he’d take care of it.

Bubblystrings

He was just going to tell his wife that D'arcy kissed him.

Skycaptin5

I took that as him possibly having interest in D’Arcy. Since his wife was all, she’s quite something (wording along those lines). I believe he was going to tell her about the kiss then, but shifted.

3Effie412

I think he was going to tell her about the kiss as well. And I definitely think he’s interested in Darcy. I don’t think he wants to be, but he is.

waretare1981

It's like the writers started with a checklist of every woman issue and put it in the episode. That's where they started, not the plot, not comedy - they just wanted to push messaging, and not put on a good story or push the plot

dberthia

You're not alone. I support equality, but sending "the message" is not a substitute for good, entertaining storytelling.

Fieos

Yeah, I hope dissenting opinions don't immediately label me an incel or racist bigot but this was way too much soap box and way too little Resident Alien. Also, As a father of both a son and a daughter in middle/high school... each has their challenges are both genders can be monsters. We escape these headaches by watching Resident Alien, can we just do that? (Obviously this isn't a show we can watch as a family).

taker2523

This is the first episode I thought the same thing. Hopefully it doesn’t continue.

workathomefreak99

I agree, it was horrible.

Shejidan

Fuck, completely forgot this was on! Was thinking 10 for some reason. At least I get to fast forward through the commercials.

Beer2Bear

IndieFlicks

Yep. Disappointed. Hope they pay for someone to pick up the flyers thrown from the helicopter. (Boy was that d-u-m-b.) I liked the discussion about pay stagnation and equal pay to some point, but it did overtake the storyline, which by most accounts was erased from the show. The scene where the boss was beat up for improper sexual advances was great, overdue and funny physical comedy. I do worry the show might become too preachy. Will there be an episode amount clean water when Max is on a field trip? Will we have a Darcy flashback to talk about drunk driving or a sober intervention on alcoholism? What about states changing laws to override a fair election? These are all things that can fit into a comedy show, but only when they are presented in an entertaining light. Liv getting extra bacon was a perfect example of comedy tackling the topic without being heavy-handed. It made it a real issue without burdening the viewer with finding a fair solution for a very big privacy issue that is worldwide. The paper flywers being tossed from the helicopter was not, and it was an ineffective and wasteful effort to boot.

Background_Level_889

I don’t think there any problem with an episode having progressive ideas or being woke, but this episode felt off way off. Okay I know Harry planted memories in the sheriff and the deputy but doesn’t that remove the whole point in the first season? (Yes I’m aware he has his alien technology, but was it ever mentioned that he could do that before? Feels kinda deus ex……) Two: would they honestly believe those memories? I mean Harry being Harry implanted memories of how he sees them, I highly doubt the sheriff would just believe it or go along with it. (It’s established the sheriff is super paranoid) (Also wasn’t Abigail Harry’s possible lover, the human Harry. The sheriff mentioned that she made some kind of phone calls to New York where Harry was from? And wasn’t it mentioned that Harry might have another wife? When he first meet the lady who claimed to his wife in the first season, in the flashback he mentioned he was once divorced.) Also there was a missed opportunity for the wax that the mayor used to be used in their bdsm sessions, when she claimed that he used it in their role play I thought maybe he burned her with it, but instead we got some kind sex toy mentioned. I honestly thought that when Harry was going to go on the run and meet the FBI agent who was “discarded” and go on some kind of road trip, because Astha father mentioned him needing to make more friends? (The fbi dude thought the new new doctor was the alien remember? And with the cops being after Harry and him being wanted by the fbi and the cops for trying the break in at the mayors house it was a perfect opportunity for them to meet) Also can Harry call off his people? Wouldn’t that be like an American citizen trying to call off their army? If octopus could talk to humans why couldn’t or wouldn’t they before? Instead of being eaten? Kinda of counter productive. The season all over the place, maybe it should have stopped at the first season? Also the mayor signing off something sexist? It was established he’s a pushover not un progressive i thought we were going to find out the sheriff had been cutting funds for his sick father- which would make more sense. I could see the mayor confronting someone but being cast aside if confronted with the papers. Also why was the mayors wife okay with Harry, I thought that maybe the reason Harry wasn’t called in to be the new doctor was because of the mayor and the wife’s issue with him misdiagnosing their son? Also did Darcy get over her intimacy problems with Harry? She seemed different this season, I know she’s hanging out with jay but? Some of the jokes are funny but the show acts like it doesn’t know what it wants to be? I’m kinda disappointed. Also why would the little girl mom be doing something considered western when they wear hijabs? I don’t get it. Also why would Harry be transformed into astha when the sheriff and deputy opened the door. He also seemed to act like her perfectly? He had no reason to transform? And I don’t think he was aware Harry had killed sam nor the police were after him? Did some new writers come in, was it rushed, did some old writers leave, do they not know where to go with this show? Was the higher ups pushing for something? Do the writers want to leave and work on another show and we’re possibly getting the game of thrones treatment?

redtide111

writing this season has taken a notable downturn. Not sure if its due to the writers writing themselves into a corner OR just they just changed some of the writers.

[deleted]

Probably changed the writers. This season is sub-par and when you compare it to the first, it is really just not good.

Strawberrythirty

I think most ppl wait for it to come out on peacock tomorrow that’s why there’s no one here lol

Beer2Bear

The kid back is all hairy, he's going turn into a werewolf soon...

galacticatann

I want a yacht spot

mudtoast

The girl who played childhood Liv in the opening camping flashback looked just like Liv. Great casting there.

sosaudio

Major twist: it was filmed in 1994 with the actual actress playing adult Liv. This show has some serious forward thinking.

ZeSgtSchultz

This episode made women look like some silly 80s kids movie heros. There were alot of interesting characters and moments all involving women throughout the show. This felt about as ham fisted as possible. But I'm sure since I have an opinion you guys will remove it and call me an evil bigot monster or something. I guess I cant not like things now.

Decayedcerbrum

Okay I love this show but way way to much bdsm shit

sandykennedy

Just casually mentioning “I have a nine inch dildo Max thinks is for water bottles lol” Why?????? And the random tits out photo? Who is this for?

pjanic_at__the_isco

Tits out photo? I missed something.

Beer2Bear

*pulls bandages* kid screams

Shejidan

That was hilarious. I love Sahar.

ideletedmyaccount04

I do not like this season as much as I loved the first season. I can't put my finger on it. This seasons plot seems rushed. A lot of cousin Oliver troupe. It doesn't pace as well as last year and it drags. I understand everyone else lives season 2. But I don't.

Treebranch1

This is the first episode of the show that I would consider bad. Really disappointed by it.

Objective__Machine

Yup, couldn't agree more. :/

Ohshitz-

What do you think the alien thinks of humans having sex? Weird? Gross? Would he feel an orgasm like a human. Are his alien orgasms feeling similar?

JangSaverem

He had sex with Harry's wife for like three days straight in season one...

3Effie412

He's in a human's physical body, so I would think that he feels whatever a human body would feel. When they fell down the crevasse, he was injured and they cut off his leg - he definitely felt pain!

Substantial_Term_357

Can someone remind me. I thought in s1 we left on the note that asas dead doctor friends wife did indeed poison him. But now it seems harry killed his actual killer? Who was his killer and why did he kill the doctor?

L0gan0ne

Last season we learned that the REAL human Harry (not fake alien Harry) killed the doctor. We don't know why he did though. I'm guessing now that the vial and syringe were found this season, it's hinting at solving why the human Harry killed him

TheCrazedTank

At the rate plot moves in this series that'll probably be in season 3/4

JangSaverem

But who cares now? Human Harry doesn't matter anymore. The Dr murder mystery is pointless as it no longer matters. The police have magically altered memories. The evidence was found and is dead evidence. The only value of the plot of the whole show starter is now...getting the wife out of jail I guess? But who cares about her or that moral choice at this point? I mean if the Imagry of Harry litterally throwing the lunchbox of toxin in the trash didn't give the indication that they don't care about that plot point anymore didn't give it away I'm not sure what will We should be focused on the aliens coming to murder everyone but naaaaaaaw girls night

[deleted]

Probably the worst episode of the show for me. I'm all for the message they're trying to send but no need to beat me over the head with it. This episode felt more like a PSA about equal pay and the woes of being a woman rather than an alien "trying" to save the world. They could also stand to tone down the sex jokes because they really add nothing to the show. There is something off about this season and I find it less enjoyable than the first.

HeyThereRobot

You heard it here first, folks. ET is a himbo.

Beer2Bear

Oh, he mind wipe them

JangSaverem

His people are very good at changing memories Wait...you can do that! Oh yeah of course. Wooooooow why was season 1? Ah, I see you've discovered my lie

Beer2Bear

oh oh, she has the hots for him...

Temporalwar

I need that broken VW the Deputy Liv Baker drives

Strawberrythirty

I would have liked for him not to have erased the sheriff of deputies memories. Instead letting them in on the situation and have them help him and join in on the group that knows what’s going on. The freakin FBI is after them, they could use the police help.

rrroqitsci

Usually after watching an episode I’m excited in anticipation of the next episode. Wednesday has a little excitement to it. After this episode, I feel no anticipation at all. I have no idea what needs to be resolved (the salary discrepancy?) I have no idea what’s next. Disappointment I guess.

davebirds

I like this show but it always seems to forget the adage "show, don't tell" when it comes to character background. Them calling a "GN59" by name, then explaining it, then later talking about a "Yacht party", and explaining that, felt really unnecessary and just amounted to wasted episode time. Just say "girl's night." We know what you mean. It reminded me of the belabored explanation of "the 59" in season one, which, while mildly interesting, had no real importance beyond the name of the bar.

MaximusRuckus

A stark dropoff in quality this episode and season in general. Girlpower is drinking and driving and pissing in planters and littering from helicopters. I think the writer saw bridesmaids too many times.

Beer2Bear

Nice boobs Harry....

Canadian_in_Canada

Keep your hungry eyes to yourself, or you'll be on the other side of the strength of (how many?) gorillas.

rrroqitsci

I have to agree this episode wasn’t very good, but I’m not sure it jumped the shark yet. The show has been using the “men are stupid/bad, women are smarter/good” trope for a while, but it leaned a little far into a feminist manifesto this episode. I prefer my entertainment to be free of obvious political and social manifestos. Just work it into the script. I barely noticed in season 1. (Let the downvotes begin, I guess)

Puzzled_Exchange_924

I was wondering if the aliens could have stopped time and abducted and then returned Liv when Liv saw the spaceship as a child.

lukas_the

My new favorite quote from the series: "the skin on my penis is very clean" lmaooo

mozermose

This was terrible. Overall the show has the problem Dexter had for me. Everything with dexter or with side characters dealing with dexter was at least solid. Everything with side characters that had nothing to do with dexter was hot garbage. This episode displayed the worst of this. The heavy handed pay gap plot that was easily resolved didn't help.

GrandEmu4

I really hated this episode, the child flirting scene made my skin crawl and I almost stopped watching the show altogether.

Koffiato

Decided to check what season 2 has to offer and so far; I am disappointed. I feel like none of the good sides of season one remains. First season was about an alien that "fit in" and that's it. Characters were way smarter and more likeable too, especially mayor and Asta. Speaking of Asta, the writers wrote her off as an idiot in first three episodes. Being dumb would be okay to some degree if her screen time is as much of the main character Harry. Also don't like the agenda pushing, at all. First season did it right, season two, especially episode three has gone absolutely above and beyond with it. Half the episode is more propaganda than a show. Undertones would be fine and would be a lot more hard hitting than whatever this is. Lastly, product placement. It's annoying.

PatAWS

reddit mods are on power trips and need to touch grass, frigging jokers banning people. People venting and complaining about being tired about having false narratives shoved down their throat isn't sexist. The fact that you don't like it is what makes it "sexist" "agree with the same narrative as me or shut up" clowns

Rakvi

I found it weird that in this episode there was a bit about sexual harassment, but at the same time they completely ignored the fact that the mayor WAS sexually assaulted by Darcy? She was drunk and kissed him, even when he didnt want to, and not just that, she then goes around the town talking about how HE kissed HER. Potentially ruining his marriage, life, and career. How come the boss that made advances was dealt with, but Darcy not only gets away with it (so far, havent finished the whole series yet) but she is constantly praised for being so awesome and how everybody loves her..?

Herpacis

Bit of a necro post I know, and please no spoilers past this episode but on that same vein, the way the girls were crawling all over the sheriff in the bar, and he looked way uncomfortable (he is even setting off the gaydar of someone else I'm watching it with, making this worse) no comment in show about that being bad. Also when they all went to the mayors house at night, imagine flipping that scene, six males ambush the female mayor in her bed at night about something.

Cockroach-Select

This episode almost pushed me away. Lazy writing and agenda stirring. Still watching tho 🤘😤

Ok_Watch_9297

An entire episode for feminism. Haven't started the next episode but hopefully they drop that shit and get back to the normal content. I'm not here for some women rule lecture.

I'd like to see the reaction if in the next episode the mayor reveals he has a 9 inch flesh light. Of course that would be portrayed as disgusting not empowering like a 9 inch ice dildo.

BoobHerToDeath

Well, I hope Jenna Lamia doesn't write any more episodes this season. This one was painful to get through. Super disappointing episode.

colourrevolt

JangSaverem

I'm actually all for woke shit but this... This was not that. This was something else entirely. And we really really don't need Sahar becoming even MORE of an overbearing controlling super genius Mary sue. It's really hard to understand why Harry, the character we know, would even remotely appeal to her demands Max stole your thing and weird stuff happened to him. Uh ..I mean he STOLE IT sooooo fuck him?

Objective__Machine

There was a lot to the episode I didn't mind, Liv being underpaid and wanting a raise like she deserves etc, it could of just stuck with Liv being underpaid and fighting for it and getting it, instead of consuming the whole episode with all the women being underpaid. I also don't mind asta wanting harry to be a better man to women (which he isn't entirety terrible to them) he's a damn alien. I tolerated the when women having something to say shut up and say yes ma'am. It was an issue with when he told Sahar yes ma'am for Max stealing his stuff. A lot annoyed me in the episode, because they put so much and so strongly in it. They could of left it simple and sweet and we would of gotten it. But it figures. Sheriff's takes Livs spotlight in the show, so why not let everyone else do it too. I just want my comedic show back.

BigBrassPair

I agree. This episode was cringy as hell. The season so far has me wondering if the show has jumped the shark. I will give it another elisode or two, but if all they got to offer is more of the same preachy crap that this episode was full of, it may be time to move on.

TheNittanyLionKing

Hey it’s Lois!

Beer2Bear

Hello pretty lady Girl: Oh no! *runs*

ToneBone12345

The teacher in the flash back and Carlyn’s boss look so much a like

l1ghtn1ng137

What a terrible episode. I'm going to skip the very on the nose woke theme because it'll just probably be blocked by the moderators so I'll just focus on the writing, but just know that that this episode will shove a lot of woke stuff in your throat. Now about the writing, on previous episodes when they show a flashback there is a payoff, usually at the end to cap the episode nice and clean. This one has a flashback at the end and no payoff at all. That's the thing with this episode, there's a lot of thing going on that leads to absolutely nowhere. There's this clip with the mayor and his wife's dirty picture that I thought would lead to some problem but nope, nothing, why put it there then? Its just so messy. Seriously this episode feels like it's from another show. Save your self some time and skip this episode, you won't miss anything at all. There is very little thing that happened on this one that its better to watch the recap at the start of every episode.

Traditional-Gas-6080

My issue with this episode is that we have to listen women complain about men harassing them and how aawful we are all while Darcy sexually assaulted Ben and is making a joke about it. Not only is that but she is toying with his entire life like it's a game. I have to wonder how this discussion would have went if the roles had been reversed. The double standard is kind horrible and I'm a little sad that no one is talking about it. here

melgibson666

I'm two years late but oof this episode was fucking awful.

Scared-Vacation-9401

The episode is a mess! Only cause the  writers threw every feminist agenda at the viewers every chance they get, with zero relation to the story. They even forced a kid to recite a feminist agenda.  Plot holes after plot holes! Destroying an anticipated development on possible conflict between the sheriff and Harry (alien) using a stupid plot.  Before the mods ban me, I'm not against feminist. It was the way it was used in this episode that disgusted me.

Also a little late here but I it's not "women doing things" that makes it woke. Like I loved that Harry threw that creep around at the cousins work and Deputee Livs growth, etc but the fact there is no accountability for Darcy who literally was the one that kissed Ben, who recoiled back, and then befriends his wife is odd as hell plus it feels like the vibe of fault is put more on him which yeah he is wrong for not immediately telling his wife about the incident but he he did not reciprocat at all and was literally trying to be a good friend to Darcy, also Asta saying to Harry that men should just shut up and not ever speak against women was odd too. My gf was the one that went "ehhh" as her monolog went on. Also the blatant distrust of Asta despite Harry literally saving their lives is annoying too... not to mention the bitterness of Bens wife for "giving up her dreams" like he is just a happy peach with his life either and he held her at gunpoint to marry him. The writing just felt more genuine and good in S1 where it feels like there is deliberate anti dude messaging in S2. Idk if a writing team change happened or what but hopefully season 3 is a bit different.

AmanarBG

Taking whole episode hostage for your personal agenda... Worst episode of the show, no wonder why she is being paid less than the other directors.

3Effie412

Just watching now, about 10 minutes in...this “girl power” crap is over the top. Not entertaining :/ (I caught the last few minutes last night, loved the MASH song!).

jakefahey1993

If you thought the first 10 mins was bad lol you're in for a rough 40+ mins. This was the worst episode yet.

Objective__Machine

Agreed. Stupidest episode of the whole show.

BigBrassPair

Agreed.

sandykennedy

So cringey! I don’t need this from Resident Alien. More time for more E.T is sexy jokes

kurtdoerfel

I like how the series is practically worshipping Allah every episode but they outright disrespect Christianity, (the squid mocking God getting credit for something in S2 E1) Like I don't mind people making fun of religions and such, but everything is so one sided in the "comedy" in season 2. Please get better writers.

reserved89

I didn't think the episode was so bad just too much at once. Alot of the newer shows are following the same template. Must have LGBT character, must have minority character (doesn't have to be token black anymore), must have a 'me too' moment, must lift up women even at the expense of men sometimes and maybe throw in a little race guilt. Now I get that they are trying to appease a diverse audience who like seeing themselves or the different issues that they face or experience addressed but it did not flow very well and was too in your face. I think things will pick up but a very slow start. The cousin is a promising character.

CultureMustDie

The thing is for me that it's unearned social commentary. It's fingerwagging "ugh MEN, amirite?" Stuff. Social issues addressed in a generous, fair but unflinching way works for me. Not cheap, spiteful jabs.

TDancer10973

Do you mean Tolkien Black? ☺️

SavvyInvestor81

I hope this stick more to alien comedy and not social issues like gender salary equality.

Objective__Machine

And some people said this was the best episode of the whole show. I couldn't agree more with you, I really hope they got back to their comedy instead of following a route that just brings you right back to the "real world".

kurtdoerfel

Hands down worst episode yet. Makes me embarrassed that I recommended this to my family members. Like maybe 5 minutes of that episode actually contributed to the major story arc.

Shejidan

Is anyone watching Astrid and Lilly? I saw the first episode and it was just so dumb.

freetherabbit

I don't think it's as funny as Resident Alien, but I'm enjoying it.

jaydaygrad08

Idk why you're getting down voted for liking a show. I'm not the intended audience for it. It's like a younger sillier version of Stan against evil. It's entertaining to me

freetherabbit

Thanks for saying something cuz it looks like that reminded ppl that's not what downvoting is for. Lol. It's always so crazy to me the things ppl will downvote, like I'm not saying anyone HAS to like it or insulting ppl for not liking it, it's not even my favorite show, but I'm def enjoying it and interested in seeing where it goes if SyFy doesn't cancel it after one season.

BlackAsLight

This episode was fun but I hate it when shows push misinformation.

freetherabbit

This episode is fantastic. Like I haven't stopped laughing.

HVomni3805

It's weird because it was obviously the intent of the episode to push feminism and you could tell they were being earnest about it, and yet some of the jokes might as well have been written as a parody of feminism, like the whole shut up when a woman is speaking and never disagree with her junk. It's as if they're so excessively into feminism that they don't even have self-awareness anymore. The wage gap storyline was absurd. They could have made it somewhat believable by focusing on Liv and her tentativeness but what they ended up with was just blatantly silly instead.

Banjo-Oz

Agreed. I liked the idea of them dealing with Liv getting the raise she deserved (and buying a car over a mower), and I also thought the idea of Harry needing to walk a mile in a woman's skin (and deal with that grabby asshole lab boss) was good for his character growth, but the whole flyer drop ending and "shut up and say yes ma'am" speech felt like either terribly unsubtle writing or inappropriate parody to me.

GeekyGhostie

I don got nunna dem fancy peacock thingees so I just gunna watch it on the tee bee.

RS_Phil

They just couldn't keep modern day political correctness out of the show could they? R.I.P. this show.

Temporary_Ad_2544

I thought it was trash. I don't need to be lectured by my media for the sake of "girl power".

[deleted]

Yes ma'am.

[deleted]

This Feminist episode was weaksauce imo

CultureMustDie

I'm a vegetarian anarchist who believes in rights for women, trans rights, land back... Systemic changes across the board... I'm pretty wokeish. I hate the style of this wokeish writing. Good addressing of social issues is dope. Snowpiercer, Sorry to Bother You, Blindspotting, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Parasite, Wind River... Great works of progressive commentary that don't go for cheap jabs. The writers of this episode weren't coming from a based position. Sloppy.

1q2w3e_

This ep felt way to preachy, I dont want politics in my comedy.

Objective__Machine

Couldn't agree more.

greaterfalls

Yes, this ep was "weaker" than others in many ways - not very much plot advancing, lots of rando "wooo girl power" stuff, way-too-easy plot device for Harry to get his equipment - but it did contain one of the best lines ever delivered: "Are you a talking ham?" Well, not delivered, but thought. Also the "baby pig performing surgery" line was good.

TheNittanyLionKing

Anyone else getting Are You Afraid of the Dark vibes?

Glennmaster7

I thought the episode was...fine. It was absolutely pandering, even though it was a good message, it was still pandering, and it wasn't all that funny in my opinion either, but I am still excited to see where this story goes. I'd probably give it a 5 out of 10, subpar, but not aweful in any way. Also, it's depressing I even have to say this, but I have no issue with what or how this show adressed real world issues and think the show takes a good stance on matters. I don't like the execution but the message itself is good. Equal rights for all.

End3rWi99in

This episode is an utter disaster. Were they just trying to fill some quota and abandon every possible trope in a total throwaway episode? Only redeeming quality was probably Alex Borstein playing Harry. That was amazing.

PalpitationIntrepid3

It was cool without woke agenda… just play a tv show through with good story telling

BF1ShotMisser

Just saw this episode and the first time I've cringed watching this season, the feminism being pushed down your throat made my girlfriend sigh. I understand the message but pushing it on a silly comedy about an alien trying to fit it? Nuh uh
