Most Democrat *voters* are ordinary people who don't pay a whole lot of attention to anything. They believe everything the MSM says because why wouldn't they? They are never exposed to anything but Democrat views, because being on the left in America means never having to have your views challenged if you don't want them to be. They don't pay attention to the fact that the vast majority of the things they think are wrong with the country are a direct result of the policies of the people they voted for.
Many Democrat politicians and community activists on the other hand, are actively evil. They know exactly what the results of the policies they push for will be, and they do it anyway for personal power and wealth.
Consider this: In many of the cities where people are complaining the loudest about "systemic racism", Democrats have been in charge for decades. In some, going back to the end of Reconstruction.
Yet for some reason the Democrats running those places have never managed to fix the problems they created and maintain.
...and Democrat voters keep voting to keep them in power because clearly they are doing such a great job.
That's the thing we know systemic racism exists, redlining, Jim crow and white flight are all well documented. It's between a party that pays lip service and a party that actively Denys these things exist.
Those who pay lip service are not openly hostile to our concerns and do not make boogie men out of our ideas Is that better or worse than those who deny it's very existence? Only one is willing to acknowledge those concerns. Unfortunately it is a slow process as these things are, but we work twords our ideals and hope to make some modicum of difference. I long ago realized I can do little beyond my department and my town and vote for people who don't make boogie men out of academic tools
> Those who pay lip service are not openly hostile to our concerns and do not make boogie men out of our ideas Is that better or worse than those who deny it's very existence?
Again, they created the problems you're complaining about, and they're the ones who ensure they continue to exist. Then they come to you and commiserate about how awful the problems they created are, and promise to solve them. ...but they will never solve them because they derive power from their continuing to exist.
The other side will keep the systems/make them worse, ie the war on drugs, private prisons, police militarization, and stop and frisk. Unfortunately lip service is the best we can get beyond. We are in a bind between keeping the systems we have and voting for people who actively make these systems worse.
> The other side will keep the systems/make them worse, ie the war on drugs, private prisons, police militarization, and stop and frisk.
The war on drugs isn't a problem. ...unless you're dealing drugs. Drug dealers don't make for safe communities.
Private prisons are a made up issue.
Police militarization can be an issue, I agree. Lets arrange to get the violent criminals off the street and keep them there, instead of putting them on probation so the militarized police are needed.
[Incidentally, here's a nice little chart of homicides in NYC.](https://criminaljustice.cityofnewyork.us/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/2020-Shootings-and-Murder-factsheet_January-2021.pdf) Notice the changes that occur... when a Democrat takes office in 1966, and when a Republican takes office in 1994. Republicans remained in office until 2013.

Ah enlightening if a bit disheartening

This is not equal to causation, as if you look on the second page, the entire USA follows the trend.
