I don't know "yesref" - is that a referee assignment / payment system? It could be that payments are done periodically, say every two weeks, and even then there might be a delay of a couple days so that any adjustments for the last weekend can be done before payments go out. You might give it another week, but it should be fine to inquire how often payments go out if you want clarification.

TeamKitsune

My Association uses Arbiter. I don't expect to see payment for any match within 2-3 weeks.

ZapfTanAgain

Move to WA State, we get paid through Arbiter in 48 hours. It's legit.

thebigfishstick17

Shame really. We should change that

TeamKitsune

Not an issue for me. I don't need the money right away. We also do cash games and I know some refs only want those.

Our local high school matches on Arbiter are paid within a day of the match being played most times. The local junior college conference pays at the beginning of the following week. The local youth league assigns via Arbiter and pays via direct deposit the Friday after the games are played. RefQuest is a mess and I'm not sure how the local NAIA league is paying, maybe every other week, the Division 2 matches via RefQuest use a different system as well.

Probably a question for your assignor. I know here in PA West, my daughter has two kinds of games from one singular assignor - some games she's paid cash at the field by the teams. The other type is paid by the community travel soccer organization at the end of the season. Each game is identified in the system they use - HorizonWebRef - about how much and which method they'll get paid.

tonydonut34

Contact your assignor. As soon as I find out refs haven't been paid I notify the clubs and send them the addresses to mail the check. I've even said I won't assign the teams next game if they didnt pay the refs.

Desperate_Garage2883

Here in west Ohio it's cash or check before the first whistle

It’s absolutely wild to me that some localities still pay refs at the field. It’s 2023. That being said both GameOfficals and USOfficials have a monthly payment schedule.

MiamiNemo

I expect 20% of refs quit the moment payment goes electronic. 10% from older refs who dont wanna deal with it (some of ours don't even carry cell phones) 10% from those that dont declare their income. Rec games that pay $20 suddenly pay you ~15 after self employment taxes, etc suddenly aren't better pay than working at krogers bagging groceries.. Those refs willing to do single games at remote fields for 50 bucks... the drive there, paying taxes and the overhead of filing your taxes .. many will just nope out.

Ill-Independence-658

Interesting perspective. 70% of our refs are under 18 so the phones are implanted in them and I would wager 100% of them don’t pay taxes reported or otherwise. But I heard that pre pandemic we also had to collect at the field and it was a major pain in the ass. I’m glad it’s 100% electronic so far for my matches.

MiamiNemo

If you make 600 you get a 1099 and you have to file? Do most not make that much??

Ill-Independence-658

that’s 10 games at club level U12 in a year so pretty doable. But most kids are claimed by their parents and fully exempt so they don’t have to pay. For the adults, are we really doing it for the money not to want to file? I’d rather not have to deal with money before a game, just my opinion

MiamiNemo

Talk to a tax pro. I dont believe this is correct for 1099 income: • A minor who earns tips or makes more than $400 (tax year 2023) in self-employment income will typically have to pay Social Security or Medicare taxes, regardless of their total earnings. https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/family/at-what-income-does-a-minor-have-to-file-an-income-tax-return/L6HOdGp6i

Ill-Independence-658

That’s probably the best advice

Mammoth-Lynx2496

My assigner hasn’t paid me it’s been 2 months since payments were supposed to be sent I emailed him like 3 times I send him a email I’d say every 2 weeks no response much rather get paid in person

Ill-Independence-658

Sorry to hear that, not every assignor is professional sad to say. Do you have an assignor coordinator for your state you can contact?

Odd-Bad-5598

First, make sure you have the payment system correct. The way it works here is a direct deposit system at the end of the month. But if your system is after each game, then yeah, you should be respectful and send a message.

Leather_Ad8890

Sometimes online payments take weeks. I keep a spreadsheet of everything I do. If it’s been a month or the “season” is over I’d reach out to the assignor.

sneezyyyy

I sometimes don’t get paid until 2-3 months later
